This has all that I love and not one thing I don't.

The optic and sling are on the way.

http://i807.photobucket.com/albums/yy358/SuperiorFirearms/Lever%20Love/100_2659.jpg

We cut this gun down from a 24inch gun to 16.5 inch.
Silver soldered the sights on and did the internal work.

http://i807.photobucket.com/albums/yy358/SuperiorFirearms/Lever%20Love/100_2674.jpg

After we did the work we used CERA-KOTE in a custom color.
I hand rubbed the stocks for 4hr with oil to get it to the level of satiation.

Yep, that looks terrific. Perfect go anywhere gun. Is that a 45-70? The 4 hours you put into the furniture really payed off, the deep finish is perfect.

I really wish PA didn't have silly rules for carrying rifles in vehicles. If I could keep the magazine loaded up, I'd keep a lever gun in my trunk. Unassuming, reliable, available in extremely formidable loads... Unfortunately, the closest to "ready" I can keep a rifle in my vehicle in PA is a loaded removable magazine in a separate compartment of the rifle case.

And if I did that, I'd probably have to get one of these beautiful guns you're always posting pictures of. That thing is beautiful! The grain in the stock is amazing. The only change I'd make for a 'trunk' gun is to throw an Aimpoint H-1 on it.

I had the pleasure of being in the shop when Joe was finishing this beauty up. I can tell you all that these pictures don't do the rifle justice. It is far nicer than it looks in these photos. Then again I don't think I have ever seen any work Joe has done that wasn't exceptional.

Wow! I have been extolling the virtues of lever action carbines as trunk guns for quite a while, the pictures you posted exemplify my points perfectly. That is an incredible update to a classic piece of American history, kudos and thank you!

Where did you find the picatinny rail?

Now you have me wanting to find either a 30-30 or .357Mag, big-hoop lever action to cut down to 16.5". Yes, 16.5", a picatinny rail, a 1.4X, and a decent sling and it would be perfect.

Wow is right!...This one has grabbed my attention (green with envy), I have been wanting to justify a Marlin lever in .357 to go with my wheelguns...I think this just made up my mind on what it "can" or "could" be.

That cerakote finish is awesome, hard to believe that wood is factory and not custom. Just goes to show the difference a few hours of TLC to wood can make.

I was thinking that might be an XS mount but it looks a little different than the ones I’ve seen. Must be your fitting.

Did your 1895 start out as a guide gun? Mine came with the “pistol grip” type stock rather than the straight one you’ve got. I really like the work you did on the wood, it gorgeous. Definitely some TLC there.

The rail has been coated to match the gun that is why it looks the way it does.

It was a new gun in about 1970 and back then they were all strait stock and 24 inch barrel.

Of course! I should have known, no silly safety button present.

Man, I like it more and more every time I look at it. Is that one of your private collection pieces or is a client’s? More to the point is it up for sale?

Love my Marlin. In total it's only about two inches longer them my fixed stock MP15 (I live in one of the not so cool 50 states). Dead accurate, lighter the my AK, and the irons are what I learned on so they are more then natural for me. Mine is prior to the cross bar safety, it's dirty, there are some scratches, and it could use some work cause it's a tool not a show piece.

No intention of changing this gun in particular but I have to say I've been following your work for a while, and I may have to scout around for a newer larger caliber Marlin to play around with. I love the title of it being a 50 States gun.

Thanks for being an inspiration, I think I found my next little project.

Here's a crazy, off the wall concept for those who like ammo commonality: the new 300 BLK. It would require a custom barrel and reloads with the hornady tipped bullets, but it should fill a similar performance envelope as the 30-30. This would definitely be attractive for those who bite at the 300 BLK AR-upper.

I'm trying to justify a lever gun now, and I can't justify a new platform with completely different ammunition.

Just acquired a Marlin 336, 30/30, and for free no less. Don't have the money to have any work done to it right now.:dance3:

But love the way your lever guns look. I would love to have this one shortened to 16.5" . I'll just have to work on getting the XS scout mount for now.

We crown for $50.00.
Do we need to cut the mag tube?
The mag tube and barrel will make the work $250.00.
We would like to see the gun to give a figure but that is close.
