Ok I did a search which turned up very little unless I missed something. I'm looking to purchase a food dehydrator and a vacuum sealer. What has been your experience with the one you purchased and if you had to do over would you purchase a different model? Which one would you recommend?

Thanks in advance!!

for sealers and vaccum sealers

use the mylar bags (skip the food saver type of things). They also sell a vacuum sealer as well. They have a good write up on mylar versus food saver type bags

We have an "Open Country" dehydrator that we picked up from Cabelas for about $75 bucks.

I like it a lot, I've made several rounds of jerky with it, and we just dehydrated some apples. We've done spices, fruit roll ups, ext. My only beef with it is that it is a pain in the ass to clean the drying trays, especially after using meat in it. Really a difficult item to clean, but the price wasn't bad. I think it's a great starter model. My wife and I don't have kids, and live in a apartment, so it offers us the option of the bigger models at a cheaper price. Also keep in mind that if your busy, dehydrating food can some times be time consuming, so having a small little set up that we can process a bushel of apples through without to much hub bub is nice.
