Ok, I have been wanting a compact frame .45 ACP Glock for a while now and can't figure out why Glock continues to frustrate me, so i have decided to build my own and want some advice if it will work.

My plan is to acquire a Glock 38, which is chambered in .45 GAP and get a Glock 21 barrel and slot it in, basically making a long barreled .45 ACP compact frame Glock.

Soooo, what does everyone think about the idea, will it work, am I crazy etc.
Thanks everyone!

No, it won't work. Google a picture of .45GAP and 45ACP together. The cases are no where near the same size. .45 GAP has more in common dimensionally with .40S&W that .45ACP. .45GAP was developed to place a .45 diameter bullet in 9MM/.40S&W sized frame. Glock's .45ACP frames share their lineage with 10mm, not 9mm.

I think the mags are different
A 45ACP glock mag will not fit the smaller 9/357/40/45GAP frame.

Some folks have had good luck putting a glock 36 upper on a glock 30 lower, basically making a double stack 45 glock with a slimmer slide.

Well the frame and mags won't hold the longer case for one. The GAP cartridges were designed to work in a small frame, the .45ACP fits the large frame guns.

eta: I just checked a 30 versus a 37, the slide would have to be modified, or the barrel modified to make them fit, I didn't even bother looking to see if the lugs were anywhere close.

A terrible shame, any idea why Glock doesn't roll out a compact frame .45 ACP?
And thank you guys very much, you rock!

They did, it's the 30. And then there's the 36. May not be what you want but there are smaller guns than the 21 in .45. Personally of the .45s I like the 30, if I were carrying a .45 that would be the one.

there's the glock 36...
i don't think the dimension will work with a 45 ACP in the smaller glock frame.

you could try an HK45C or USP 45 c.
the M&P compact 45 is a good gun too.

I have some trigger time with the 36, with and without a mag extension, its pretty sweet, It could pass pretty well i suppose. I carry a 23 daily and love the size, I was just hoping i could cheat the system a little, clearly Glock is having none of this lol, and as for the M&P and the HK, both fantastic, just hoping I could stay Glock. Thanks everyone for the info!

any reason you're not interested in 9mm?
the glock 26 is tiny and holds 10+1.
9mm glocks are also considered the most reliable.

I either carry a G26, G19 or lately, a HK P7 PSP

I love the 9mm, i have a 26 and a 19, i run the 26 for carry every now and then and the 19 is race spec for USPSA Limited class, I just happen to like a larger caliber for carry usually. I am not saying 9 is not good for carry, i think it is fine, it is just my personal preference for something a little larger, currently .40 S&W
