For the wife's lightweight build, I'm trying to decide whether to go:
A - 14.5" Daniel Defense lightweight (pencil) barrel with carbine length gas tube and 7.6" TRX Extreme handguards (lightest I could find)
B - 14.5" Daniel Defense lightweight (pencil) barrel with mid-length gas tube and ?? length TRX Extreme handguards.
I don't know whether a 9" would be enough or if I would have to go 11" on the handguards - I assume the 9" wouldn't cover the low-pro gas block, but it would at least cover where the gas tube goes into the gas block so it would be protected - that is my main concern.
I'm trying to find TRX handguards weights so I know how much extra weight the 9" and the 11" handguards will weight.
Also trying to determine if going with a mid-length gas system is the way to go for recoil, handling, etc. - this is going to be a light rifle that my wife will use and I want it to be pleasant for her.
Thanks for any help!
