I am taking my concealed weapons class in december, and am in the process on figuring out the gear I will need for daily carry. I would love to see pics of your daily carry set-up (gun, holster, belt, flashlight, knife, etc.) Also, if you could explain why you chose your gear or why it works best for you. Thanks so much in advance.

This is what I have done for the past two years after getting too annoyed with the size of my G19, which led to me not carrying many times, and worrying about printing when I did. However, I may be getting a G26 soon because I don't feel too comfortable with only having 5 shots and then a painfully slow reload, which I could mess up and drop the rounds everywhere. The can of spray fits in one pocket with the revolver perfectly, I can pull out either one.

This is the exact reason why I started carrying my G26. Nice to see OC there. While not pictured, I do carry an ASP Palm Defender on my keys. I think OC is very important for CCW because you're more apt to use that than draw your gun.

I used to carry an ASP palm defender, but it now lives in a box or drawer somewhere. If you get a chance, actually spray the ASP, and spray a FOX can if you haven't already. The ASP barely sprays out a couple of feet of light mist and only sprays for a few seconds. The FOX can (not the fox keychain) really puts it out, further, faster, wider, longer duration--comparing the two is like a garden hose sprayer vs a spray bottle. I like the OC option, spray and run away is in my book of strategies, and I would do it without hesitation in certain circumstances.

I also made my wife spray her keychain FOX unit(after carrying it for 2 years), and we joked that she would have totally gotten raped because she had significant trouble with the safety, and then it was a disappointing spray. She then sprayed my larger can and had no trouble with the safety at all. It was also fun because the wind changed and we got to feel a little bit of heat. Now she wants the can.

How do you like to carry your G26? Appendix?

Yes, the ASP is definitely not good after 5 feet and is a fine mist. I used the training cartriges and could only get 3 good shots off with it. That Fox can looks like the same size I carry on my batbelt only Fox is stronger from what I've read. I'm gonna have to figure out a way to carry a can. Yes, the G26 gets carries AIWB. That's a High Noon Mr. Softy for my P2000 it's in right now. I'm waiting for my Blade Tech Phantom to come in the mail. It's tough to find a holster that allows a good grip on it since the grip is so stubby.

Here's mine.
M&P 9 w/ Surefire x300 in a Raven Phantom LC
Spare Mag in Don Hume carrier
Leatherman Charge Ti

The Phantom is worn between 2 and 3 o'clock
the spare mag is worn at 9 o'clock

The Phantom has got to be one of the best holster I've ever owned. It's comfortable and it conceals a full size gun with light OWB, never been able to do that before.
Also, don't forget about a quality belt. The belt makes the biggest difference in a CC setup.

I started carrying a G19 instead of G27 when I bought it and a phantom LC but I retired the phantom pretty quick for my long time standard the C-TAC. Comp-tac sucks as a company for charging $17 for replacement clips(broken a few over the years) but this holster works awesome for me from riding the motorcycle, working in the yard or rolling around in the living room with the kids. I have a shaggy also but with extended mag release on my glocks if rolling around on the ground it will eject the mag. Not the shaggy's fault as its a great holster if you user standard mag release.

I'm going to switch back to a G26/27 once I buy a new one as my wife has commandeered my old G27. I think the sub compact glocks are the ideal ccw for me.

The S&W 642 in don hume holster is for when I don't carry a reload for the glock due to tucking in the shirt. I have crimson trace grips which I'm not a fan of but to lazy to change out. I carry a surefire in cargo pocket or back pocket. The swiss army knife doesn't look cool but love having pliers, screwdrivers, scissors.....

I don't have pictures, but a Glock 17, or P2000 with two magazines, a Kershaw Blur, and my phone is usually all I carry. Works very well for me.

I carry my 92FS concealed - and I am using a comptac holster. I also have the same holster for an Beretta M9A1 that I occasionally carry.

My light is a 300 lumen/60 lumen Eagletac P20C2 Mk II. My knife is a Leatherman Micra... smaller than a swiss army knife and just as useful. I use the scissors, screw drivers and knife all the time...

I have a couple of them. They are pretty nice. I find the scissors to be much more useful than the tiny pliers some of the small leathermans/leatherman clones come with. You can usually find them for less than $20

I recently picked up the Comp-tac pouches, and I'm very happy to have that crap out of my pockets. I can conceal them fairly easily even under a t-shirt.

Holster at 4:30ish, mag and light at 9:00, everything else shoved in pockets. ;)

This setup serves me just fine in IDPA. Just add one more mag pouch and go. I run with a t-shirt since I don't ever wear fishing vests in real life. :p

But recently I switched to a Glock 17 Gen 4 or an M&P 9. The M&P getting carried 90% of the time and saved my life very early Tuesday morning. I'm waiting on a Raven with the Magpul cut. I've been using a cheap Don Hume mag holster since it rides tighter than any other I've tried. I've also been using a slide on open bottom OWB holster until the new one comes and it's been working fine. It's strange going from a 1911 in good leather to polymer in a cheap holster and waiting on kydex, but for some reason it just feels right.

I know you said you don't carry it, and I'm really not trying to offend you if you made it, but what's with the double mag carrier? Why the squigles on the sides? It looks like whoever made the carrier had a hard time keeping a straight line and improvised. It also looks like the sides aren't profiled in and the artsy curves would profile more than needed. Same with the bottom digging in when seated instead of distributing the weight along a straight line.

Also, on the Boresight Glocks. Do you find the stippling makes your clothing stick to the gun? I've got a stippled PMAG and love it, but it grips clothing a bit. Very interested in that though. I imagine that gun shoots amazingly well.

M&P9 w/ extra mag and CRKT folder in fixed blade sheath. All gear made by a local company, Personal Security Systems. I have the belt loops off right now in anticipation of a new set.

Great gear and the owner, Steve, is a great guy to work with. He is in the process of taking the company from doing custom local work to a more public level with a website and blue guns for popular models. As of now I bought this and a similiar setup for my Beretta 96, so I know he has these 2 guns on hand, along with PMAG/GI mag carriers. Not sure what else he has.

If you are interested he is taking orders by email/phone/person until the website launches.

I've heard some suggest only stippling the left side of the weapon, so shirts don't stick to it as much. Besides looking ridiculous (not a huge deal) can you think of any other cons to doing this? It almost seems like it might cause the gun to slip on one side when doing rapid fire, but I could be wrong.

Also, you make beautiful knives. I am putting one on my future goody list.

when I was in the FD mostly rolled on medical calls on the rig where I was ?

but we were told never to carry gloves bare as they can get holes to easy etc.. we had these small black velcro thing that wrapped around the suspenders and would hold two sets of gloves easy ?

just a thought :) and would rather have gloves that MIGHT have small tears then none at all
maybe even a small plastic card holder those cheap throw away ones for fishing lic and things like that or something might protect them ? also makes the pockets neater :)

I didn't make it, maybe he had a hard time keeping a straight line. It works just fine when I'm at the range, and it's not digging into my leg (I've actually never had that problem, with ANY pouch, so when people complained about that with their duty gun pouches and such I was like "huh?"). I guess the correct explanation would be my fat roll is digging into IT! :( I'm working on losing that roll though... I don't see how a curved line would profile vs. a straight line, if that's what you mean. Some of the other stuff he has made was curved around the rivets as well. The pouch and mags conceal fine in a regular t-shirt, it's my fatness that makes anything profile. I gave my friend my holster and pouches and had him wear them and they didn't print at all.

Either way, I ordered a single mag pouch and will wear it at like 7 o'clock to combat the side roll pushing it out.

I know you can't tell tone on the internet, but I laughed a few times reading that. I hope I'm not out of line in doing such, it just was kind of funny how you worded it and I hope it was meant to be light hearted.

I was thinking more like if you crouched down on the right knee, would the 90degree angle of the left leg cause the swirls to poke at the thigh, whereas a straight line would distribute the pressure more. I carry my secondary mags a little forward of 3oclock and my primary mags 3-5 oclock, and I've noticed a little digging with standard lines when in odd positions.

Anyways, maybe its aesthetics. I just bring up the line, because I can imagine it would be hard to keep a straight line when making kydex gear. I was interested to see if thats how you found a way around it. Regardless, it actually is kind of cool how it matches the supertuck (or MTAC, I'm going off memory here), even though no one would really see it.

For the gloves, I keep a small kit in my range/bug out bag. I have a few sets of gloves wrapped in a thick paper and the other side is a thick clear plastic (almost like what they wrap kids toys in or a thicker hot pocket plastic wrap). They seem to hold up great. If you could find them, the packaging might hold up well in the pocket. They are packed and folded small, powdered, seperated (so not to stick from heat), and open easily. I'll try and get a pic of them.

These are my two EDC get-ups. The first is a hand cobbled mutt of an IWB holster for my G23. The mag pouch is a cut up knife pouch with a zip tie for tension adjustment. And a pair of snips from work. What, not everyone carries a pair of scissors:sarcastic:http://lh3.ggpht.com/_5kA3JwNkBxc/TL-X5HVHiwI/AAAAAAAAGgo/IsePdbMFSCA/s720/mms_picture.jpg
This second choice is for cooler temps where additional layers help with the concealment. This is also what I wear for IDPA.

It's okay, I laughed as I posted it. The weight needs to come off anyways, but it's slow going. I should have just worked harder at keeping it off when I got shot last year cause I lost 15 pounds in two weeks when I was on pain pills for eight days following the shooting and barely ate anything for the three of those I was in the hospital; I wasn't hungry and it took like a full month for my appetite to come back.

Seriously though, is the black electrical tape used for grip / handstop? also, it looks like you have the sling wrapped until needed, is that right? Love the SBR. Need to get out of Michigan to get one....

it's actually bat tape.. i've sort of fallen in love with the stuff. it doesn't stick to anything but your hand, and it sticks to that really well. i had the pistol rapped for about 6 months of daily CCW, and finally happened to be shooting in the rain a couple weeks ago- excellent grip when wet.

I really like it!! I carried my 1911's in the Watch Six versions and sold one to cushion this purchase. It's a truely cry once and forget it purchase. Want no more :)

i actually have a long story attached to that knife. they aren't available anymore- they make several models that are close, but no straight up 9050AFOs. i'll cry, the day i lose this one. excellent knife.

Like the setup. One thing you might try on the sling tieback are large industrial rubber bands. I use that on my shotgun when I stow it and is easier to deploy. Like the 20rd PMag. Don't see those alot, but save space when racking.

Other comment and then back to the thread; Any issues with the Surefire's bezel running in-line with the bore like that? I would think the blowback on the lense would be aweful.

i was sporting bands for a while.. i like how tight and cleanly the tape holds it, though

nah. can't have issues with something if you never shoot it.

it's basically wishful thinking.. it'll probably have to be moved, and probably during my next high-volume training session. it's done fine so far, in the month or so that i've had it forward like that.. but my 2 range trips have been pretty light.. 4, 5 mags max.. and not exactly "dumped." but it's taken that, and without any plasma-torch burns nor too much soot. i was actually surprised it came out as clean and unaffected as it did, the first time. but i did go ahead and stick the IR filter cap on there, and close it, for the second trip. little sooty, nothing bad.

as to the lense- the lense is actually forward of battlecomp.. so the aluminum body takes all the blast.

the times are changing, the younger generations are more and more gun-friendly, and great improvements have already been made in the last couple decades.

i think we're on our way up, so long as we show the leftists who's boss, this november.

for a little deeper concealment.. same holster as my 17- another benefit of leather is that it forms. with the 26 in there, the extra empty leather at the bottom just collapses and disappears under your jeans.

sometimes i wish i had a 26 with a 17 slide (i tried it- don't try it).

i can also just slide this into my vest pocket, if need be. love these little guys

What about "pistols"? By that I mean AKs, the FN2000, AR pistols, etc.? Don't know Ohio law, but here in Michigan I am strongly considering something along the lines of the new RRA piston AR pistol that did away with the RE. Or the SIG556 pistol. Seen one at the range the other day. Its amazingly loud, but I was suprised how well the owner controlled it for a 5.56 pistol.

I know I've read posts by you in the past talking about busting out the Dremel. Is there any reason why someone couldn't take a G17 and chop it down to G26 size and run G26 mags through it?

I tried the bat tape also.... two words. BAD. ASS. Thanks for that tip...

Too cool. all the advantages of a long slide and no disadvantage of the grip poking out when going for deep concealment. I can almost hear the dremel chopping up my M&P9...

I just emailed some people about the possibility of assembled M&P frames being for sale. Does anyone on here know if these can be bought?

Also interested in the CCF glock lowers if anyone has any info. Then I could just keep my eyes open for a slide on gunbroker.

What kind of extra mag pouch is that? And how do you like it? Does it hold the mag in pretty tight?

I ordered it custom from Custom Carry Concepts when I bought my shaggy holster and its a horizontal magazine carrier for a 1.5 inch belt. I also have his regular magazine carrier and both are awesome but I prefer the horizontal one as it seems to print less for me and but more importantly doesn't dig into my side while doing day to day tasks. It retains all the glock 9mm/40cal magazines from G26/G27 up to G17/22 really well. My daily driver is a Harley VRSC and I worried at first it may vibrate out over time but hasn't been an issue. I always carry a G19 mag with a cheap newly acquired police trade in G26 in my C-TAC.

Rich was great to deal with and price was a steal. I just put in the order and forgot about it until he called me prior to making the carrier to make sure i was getting exactly what I wanted. I'm suprised at the lack of horizontal mag carriers available on the market. Only other ones I found were double the price.

New family members photo op. I bought another G19 also as the price ($340 a piece) was to good to pass up for the police trade in's and the night sights still work. They shot as good as my other glocks just have alot of holster wear which I don't care about in the lest.

They're both prototypes for Secret City Weaponeers products soon to be released. The holsters will be available in a few days, starting with M&P 9/.40/.357 FS, and Glock 19, as I figure those two will prove popular. The 1.5" belt will be a few weeks.

Also my Kel-Tec pf9 with CTC fits great and dosn't matter that i added
the laser guard when it first came out.

If I want to go "light" I put mu LCP in it and just use a saftey pin so it doesn't fall in too deep.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y99/PdxMotoXer/100_0700.jpg (also pictured is the DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster i can just throw in my front or rear pocket.

as for holsters I'm a OWB fan...

I find the M&P "bulky" most of the time so i got a Kel-Tec PF9
and after i added the CTC laser guard i had Kevin @ K&D holsters make me a custom left handed removable with a body/sweat guard.
(it seemed like it took FOREVER but he does awesome work!)

Any chance of more shots of the belt? That thing looks clean. Also, what do you think one of those will run - ballpark estimate?
