Razor: It is a Rainier Arms XTC.

Looks like that thing combines a nice balance of compensation as well as flash reduction. How has it preformed for you?

I had it on a rifle and it did pretty well. However that is a full 20", and I just moved it to the middy, so I'll see how it does on a 16" where it should make a difference.

Hey Jer,
That's a DPMS AR10, right? Looks just like their upper receiver profile, but I've never noticed the lack of an ejection port door like that before. ???
Is it possibly something from JP Rifles or something?
What's the deal with that?

It's a complete DPMS Panther upper half from the factory. It's a smooth profile so no dust cover, case deflector or forward assist. I bought another DPMS upper receiver that has all three of these which I haven't swapped out yet and am not sure I'm going to. A lot of effort for three items that aren't very important for this particular rifle. The smooth side profile upper receiver also has a riser on top where the scope is mounted that helps somewhat too. So I may just sell the other receiver and keep it the way it is.
The lower is a POF Gen III.
Here is my first build. Its pretty plain and simple right now...its a work in progress.

I shot with a LOT of different lighting setups, there wasn't any one way of doing anything. I shot aperture priority for some, and full manual for the rest. The only secret is "seeing" what the light is going to look like, and thats something I don't know how to explain.
One of the things I really like about my Canon is the large dial on the back that lets me +/- the exposure instantly. I can roll it with my thumb from a standard horizontal grip, or from using the vertical grip. Battery life on the beast is great, even after a full day of shooting the battery never dropped below 73% (yes it gives me exact numbers). I shoot all Canon bodies, and all Canon glass with mostly L lenses.

Stickman: Great pictures. :) Black guns are tricky to take pictures of. They are so dark and yet you want to capture the fine surface features, machining of the metal, etc., but you still want the solid blackness of the weapon to be retained in the photo. You don't want it washed out or the gun covered in glare, etc. I really like that slightly wet black look you get when you have a gun with a nice dark blueing or other black finish and it's been given a good coat of oil. :)

Thank you, the image at the top of this page is one that I took with a 6+ year old point & shoot 4MP camera. It is worth around $50. Lighting makes the difference in the pictures, and I agree, a solid black image shows nothing of the detail. It goes back to the angle of incidence equals angle of reflection theory.
Just to keep the pictures going...

By "solution" do you mean for the gravel spraying everywhere from use of a comp? I'm not an expert, you probably know more than me, but it seems that might be something you just have to live with in certain situations and is not "fixable." Of course, if you can part with using a comp, a Noveske Krink keeps all the muzzle blast forward, but that might not be what you meant.:D

I was shooting at 24mm using a "L" lens with a Canon 1DSIII, (1/250 F14) its not cheap equipment. I think I've ended up with the start of an shutter release problem after hitting the ground a couple times, but you take that chance going into it. I'm part of Canon CPS, so at some point I'll send the body in, and at least they will expedite the repair (3 days).
The flip side to this is that on the last page I posted a shot that was done with a $50 camera, and for web viewing, you are hard pressed to see any difference.
Here is a pic to stay moving with the images.

with a 24mm lens, you have to be really close to take that pix! Hitting the camera body is one thing but having the lens being hit by debris is another.
aren't you afraid of the lens getting hit?

I was going to ask the same question until they did It reminds me of the tan one made by Diz, I think, you had in some pics a while back.
The tan rig you are refering to was a chest rig that I designed and had Diz custom for make for me. The design goes back to '04 / '05 timeframe, and was based on my needs at work.
I received so much feedback on that rig that I decided to try to bring the design to market.
Review and more info will be avalible shortly. Keep an eye on Bravo Company's websites for details.

Depends which photo we are talking about. The SCAR SD is one that I'm using and abusing on a regular basis, and thats the one that most often gets dropped into pictures. However, there are M4-1000 and M4-2000 images as well as others posted.

Sewn-in to keep a lower profile.

When I'm using flash, its a matter of metering for the background, then metering for the subject matter, and figuring where I want to go from there.

Sold my 243 so My AR stepped up to a dual roll! It is now my 2 & 4 legged predator rifle. So had to do something a bit different then then the Aimpoint Micro T1. Now wears a DMS-1 with a Larue SPR-E. Deff heavier now, but happy with how balanced it still feels in the hands. I'm especially pleasantly surprised at the quality of the glass. Hopefully it will stand the test of time.

It looks like there's MOLLE loops all across the front of the rifle mag-pouches. You could hang some pistol pouches from them.

I gave my new BCM 11.5" upper with BCM bolt carrier group, a borrowed T&E BCM Gunfighter CH (mod 03), URX II Rail and Triple Tap muzzle brake one hell of a workout this past weekend at a Trident Concepts 3-day Combative Carbine 1 class. It ran phenomenally and I had zero malfunctions or issues with it. I fired 1,300+ rounds and only re-applied lube (slip 2000 EWL) once, on the morning of TD2 before training began, simply because I accidentally forgot to re-apply more lube on the morning of TD3, but it ran great even without adding more lube.
BCM builds some outstanding uppers, and combined with the KAC triple tap this is one amazing gun! The Magpul BAD Lever worked out great, too!

I have to ask what is so Special about the KAC Triple Tap muzzle brake? How is the new KAC Muzzle brake better than the Older KAC QDSS NT4 Muzzle brake?
Well, in regards to its actual muzzle brake capabilities.... not much. In that respect, it does what most other (SFMB556K, PWS FSC556, etc.) brakes do in reducing felt recoil and muzzle climb.
Where the Triple Tap really shines is that it does that job without being obnoxiously loud and unpleasant to your fellow shooters on the left and right of you. I use one on an SBR (the BCM 11.5" SBR on the previous page) and it is not much louder than other SBRs of the same length that have just a standard A2 birdcage FH on them. I personally cannot tell any difference, it sounds like any other loud ass SBR to me... but others here have stated otherwise, so maybe my hearing just isn't as good from one too many RPGs blowing up near me.:p
Before I got the Triple Tap, since I'm in a chair and cannot stand in the correct position and effectively lean into the gun with my body mass, I could NOT fire an SBR at an even relatively decent rate of fire. It just kicked too damn much to allow me to have quick follow up shots... at least accurately anyways. After installing the triple tap brake on my SBR, my accurate ROF has increased exponentially.
That small chunk of Iconel (or is it Inconel?) on the end of my gun is a godsend for me, and helps level the playing field in respects to recoil control when I'm on the firing line with my fellow able-bodied shooters.
However, this device isn't a miracle worker; if you suck at this whole shooting thing, you're still going to suck after you install a Triple Tap brake, or for that matter any other piece of gear and equipment.

Exactly. It's still loud on an SBR. But it's not KX3 loud.
I have one on my G&R URXII upper, as well as on my KAC SR-15 E3 IWS. It works as advertised for sure. I had it at practical rifle last weekend doing rapid fire strings and as soon as I un-bagged my rifle I hear people snickering and laughing at how it was "bling." The minute a string of a half dozen rounds and the barrel just did NOT move people shut up and wanted to try it out personally.
Frankly is it a great value for the money? Probably not. But if you own a KAC NT4 suppressor, it's an amazing combination. But you can't solve a software problem with hardware. Combined with some decent skill with a rifle it'll help you get back on target faster, but it won't give you +20 accuracy or anything like that.

I'm not JTrusty, but unless I miss my mark, that'd be 2 LaRue mounts: The 3x Aimpoint magnifier is in an LT-150 (http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=26) (originally designed for the CompM2/M68 CCO, but it fits any 30mm bodied optic), and the Aimpoint Comp in front of it is in an LT-129 (http://stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=37) Cantilever mount.

What would those mounts alone run me in the current market? Cheap and beat-up if possible? I would duracoat them anyways, so cosmetics don't bother me. Just functionality. Also, how would the co-witness be with my Troy Folding Battle Sights?

Thanks brother! And thanks for all of the other great (and motivating) comments from others. Much appreciated, guys! Just under a year ago, when I first began getting back into shooting again since sustaining my injury (gunshot wound to chest, severed spinal cord, paralyzed from waist down) in a gunfight in Iraq back in 2003, I never would've imagined that I could attend such a high-intensity carbine class like the one this past weekend.
But now, not only can I perform pretty damn good for the entire duration of the class, but I also outshot and outperformed the majority of my fellow shooters too! I think that I was the one who was most surprised about that.
I have busted my ass to reach the level I'm at right now (which I consider novice shooter when compared to a lot of you guys here), and have enjoyed every last minute of it too! I love this shit! Nothing has made me feel more like the warrior and Marine Rifleman -that just one year ago I thought was a distant memory in my past- like getting out there and performing some high-intensity tactical style training.
It's one thing to still refer to yourself as a Marine after you're wounded in combat, and still say things like, "Roger that!" and "Good to go!"... But nothing has made me truly feel like more of a Marine than getting out to a training class and ****ing shit up again.
It might not be kicking down doors in Iraq and killing bad guys like I'd prefer to be doing right this moment, but it works! And it blows away any other so-called "therapy" I've ever experienced. I just want to figure out a way to start getting my fellow Wounded Warriors out to some of these training classes.
Semper Fi' gents!
Pic thread:
Here's a pic of me all geared up and shows how I wear everything. It took me a damn long time to figure it all out, and lots of great advice from USMC03 (thanks Jeff, you rock brother!)! My man-purse contains 4 rifle mags and also functions as a dump bag too. My trusty Glock 19 is in a Blade-Tech holster and is worn cross-draw style on my left hip, just to the left of my belt buckle, because my wheelchair's seat-back unfortunately gets in the way and prevents me from wearing it on my right hip like I'd prefer. I carry 1-2 extra mags in Blade-Tech mag pouches on my right hip. My pistol transitions are slower than most everyone else's on the firing line though, because I have to ensure I do NOT sweep my left thigh's femoral artery when drawing my secondary.
All in all, this setup works great for me!

A little bright for our Florida swamps, at least the ones I've been in. Since I've painted nothing but a car or two you'll need to take my comments with a grain of salt. :)

na, i totally agree. the grey turned out looking more like a blue . its a little darker in person, but it def has a very blue "hue" to it.
you got any suggestions? im thinking of doing a brown base coat, applying green, and then applying some grey... maybe some black? tan?
another camo i've tried out before that was very dark was a brown base coat with black stripes... makes for a very dark, earthy looking camo.

How would predominately brown and dark green with some lighter green sound. Seems to me that would come the closest. I'm not sure gray would add much unless it was darker like Spanish moss.

i tried some different patterns on a piece of cardboard earlier. the biggest problem is the Krylon Camo paints are only four colors. the non camo paints have a little sheen to them. I would try rustoleum but, that stuff takes like a week to cure. I might try it out anyway.
The best one i found was a Tan base coat, i then misted brown over the top to give it a more earthy look, threw the net on (for the scaley effect) and shot brown and green through it.

Geeze Titleist, how about you go and actually buy some quality carbines instead of that garbage, ya cheap-ass! And you totally used half a Sharpie marker on the end of that fake Triple Tap brake on the 11.5", didn't you?:D
Seriously though, very nice collection of blasters, brother! And just like me, you actually shoot the hell out of your high-priced carbines. That shit makes me happy! Too bad you don't live down here, because then we could set up a play-date sometime for our SR-15 and BCM 11.5" twins!:D

Seriously, I'm putting together all these junk carbines as cheaply as I can. :D How'd you spot the sharpie?! Dang I thought I was doing a better job. Airsoft strikes again.
My triple tap on the SR-15 would be damn near all black but my front sight fell off (the roll pin decided to go awol and during the morning BSA drill in Magpul Carbine 1 the whole sight fell off) so the upper went back to KAC for fixin'. And during that process they cleaned the whole upper, so my triple tap came back looking brand new. I felt sad, like an empty husk of a human being. Otherwise it'd be looking mighty used. None of my guns are safe queens, so using them as much as possible makes me happy as well.
And hey I'm always down for a trip to the lone star state.

Yeah I know. I know. I ordered direct from magpul about a month back, and they finally shipped. Someone told them that I was threatening to drink Drano if they didn't ship soon, and low and behold they shipped the next day. The jokes on them, I would have drank Drano anyways. ;)

The BCG is BCM, but the letters are completely blacked out by carbon and other gunk, accumulated by around 1,600 rounds fired without cleaning... and I don't plan on cleaning her anytime soon, just re-applying lube (slip 2000 EWL) as needed:D

The brake is probably expensive because the material from which it is made is a proprietary metal alloy called Inconel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inconel). Inconel is very strong and resistant to heat. It is also used on the inside of many sound suppressors. The very properties that make it desirable for these purposes also make it tough to machine and weld (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inconel#Joining).
In addition to the above listed uses, Inconel was also the material used as the skin for the experimental rocket-powered airplane, the X-15 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-15). The X-15 was built in the 1960s and still holds the record for the fastest speed ever reached by a manned aircraft.
So, if you want (literally) space-age metals and state-of-the-art design, you are usually going to have to pay top dollar. And since this is the Picture thread, here's the X-15:

Unless you plan on using it as a mount for the NT4 suppressor, it's not worth it, IMHO.

Loving it. The DD rear 'feels' less obtrusive than most rear sights, I don't know why.
It's a 1/3 co-witness but it feels like a lower 1/4, if I could change anything, it would be to make the Aimpoint mount maybe an eighth of an inch shorter.
