I've since made some additions since this photo was taken. I've added the BCM MLOK Panels and the MBUS Pro Sights and a VCAS Sling. Very pleased thus far!

No you can't "just buy it". You need to have firearms license. Getting it is not as hard as it was before, but still needs some effort and investment (since 2011 hunting, sport and collector licenses are "shall issue", CCW license is "may issue" however you can carry concealed when you have sport license). The there is no SBR or SBS. Firearm is a firearm, rifle is a rifle, pistol is a pistol. But you can have pistol caliber semi-auto with shoulder stock registered as a pistol - can be important for CCW holders, that for whatever reason want to carry CZ Scorpion Evo or HK SP5-K. Also adding stock to pistol or putting it inside those fancy contraptions that make it "a rifle" is not a problem.
My first from 10 years ago. Old reliable LMT with a DD Lite added over the shaved gas block.

Had to send my tail cap switch back as descriptions suck.

It sure looks like cleaning rods attached between the rails. Don’t think I’ve seen one. And don’t think I’d ever think to attach cleaning rods to my hand guard. Like ever.

Yes it is. Put it there in case of a stuck casing or other barrel blockage...

I have one on a 1913 rail and one in KeyMod. They're a little fatter than the KeyMod or M-LOK versions. I like them much better than a conventional VFG or AFG.

I must have missed that or forgotten about it. But it’s probably not the last time or even the only time a Tier 1 operator has thought of doing something that I don’t think of. That’s just a given.
But I really don’t recall seeing that cleaning rod set up that often, if ever. Maybe once.
I carry my old M4 cleaning kit in my flat pack and I have a spare in another ruck. Plus my range bag has a few rods in it somewhere.

Mainly done by prior Vietnam guys, or guys who want to imitate things they have seen. I have an older buddy who still has his set up that way, but he is a legit old school LRRP.

Exactly! Picked it up from 2 Vietnam vets (my father and uncle) and from an older shooting buddy (retired Ranger)... I set it up to coincide with a simple cleaning kit (oil, sm brush, rag, and bore snake) that I keep in my chest rig for a quick field fix or cleaning! Strapping a simple 2-piece rod in an empty void that gets in the way of nothing makes a ton of sense if and when it's needed.
Having the ability to knock out a stuck casing, dirt plug, or mud and being able to do it quickly is paramount to being able to stay active. So it works for me!

How do you like that comp, rail?I like both. The comp is the flash comp and it's my favorite of CMT's muzzle devices.
I do like their HDX rail slightly more than this mod1 but like this one for the weight savings.

Is that 11.5 a personal gun, and if so, do you have any "I burned my fingers and thumb" issues with that light setup?
Yes, i am not LE/Mil.
No, I don’t really do mag dumps while activating the light often. It usually gets warm enough to tell you you bumped it, but it’s never left a blister. I ran this setup for years with a g2 when it was a 16”. I just cut it down and threw it on the pistol lower this year.

Decided on this LWRC today after looking at Colt 6940 and Daniel Defense. To me it was very comparable to the Daniel Defense v7 I was looking at. I did like a couple of the features this rifle is fitted with over the DR v7. So, this one came home. I do still want to pick up a DD v7 in cerakote. The colt 6940 still has a lot to offer. Honestly, I feel I chose the nicer of the three but, I'm still unsure I made the right decision. I'd be happy with all three. Anyway here is the LWRC fitted with a vortex strike eagle 1-6x24.

She gets toasty out front, so I'm gonna try the heat resistant rail covers. Hasn't been unbearable, but haven't pushed it too hard yet either.
Should get some shooting gloves anyway, but would rather they stay listed under "optional" gear.

If memory serves, really started noticing after three mags (30 rd each), would give a SWAG of 15-20 rounds per minute. Could still handle the rail, but a little faster or longer might've breached uncomfortable territory.
No concern for it's "serious" job (home defense), but it's going to see the range a lot both for HD practice & just plain fun. Would like to use it in carbine course as well, maybe this summer.
Figured the change in weight & handling characteristics would be negligible, and if I don't like them, cost is low enough that I won't fret the money spent.

Taken at the conclusion of an 8 hr Carbine II this past Sunday. Temp was low 40s with a consistent drizzle for the first 5 hrs of class. Freaking miserable is an understatement, but it was the best training and most enlightening experience I've had at a training class. Thanks, the original plan was to go with a magnified optic, but the balance on this is really incredible and a scope kills that feel. I'm not 100% sold on using the RMR as the primary optic on this, but for right now she is sighted in and ready to go.

Oh, I see now. Thought that was just distortion from the picture. Steiner has an awesome warranty so send it back in. I had issues with the exterior on mine and they sent me a new back. The only thing I was out of was ammo from zeroing the new scope.

Looked fine, week later this happened.
Emailed them, they said it was normal I said it's not so they sent me a new one.
It does the same thing, I asked around and I get equal responses of "mine does this" and "mine doesn't do this".

They appear to be LaRue Index Clips (rail covers).
What is the dark stuff in the bag? I got their bottle seasoning with my Leaupold scope and LaRue scope mount.That is a bag of OD Index Clips. Within that square cut out they put the Dillo Dust, a lower parts kit (with no trigger guard), and extra power trigger spring. Think it changes the MBT trigger from 4 to 6lbs (might be 6.5, don't have the paperwork with me).

215 Gear makes the hat. The are a HSLD gear manufacturer. They make some SOLID gear. Not cheap, but it’s so well made. Aside from my favorite hat, they make one of my favorite ifak pouches. But you asked about the hat - so here’s the link. I’ve had mine a few years, and it’s still holding up like the day I bought it. Super lightweight also.

Robert is that a Vltor MUR upper? I couldn't get my magpul 45 deg sights to fit correctly with my MUR, they would hit the forward assist housing and raise the rear sight up and rub on the upper.
I also had to stick with a non-ambi charging handle because my fingers couldn't grab the ambi with the 45 deg sight in the down position.

This is a pretty new build as it’s configured so I haven’t zeroed the offsets, that said, I am able to manipulate them fairly easy and they do sit flush. As I recall they seat as they normally do. As far as the CH....This build I decided to give the new BCM 4x4 a shot. It’s not as wide as the Raptors I normally run on these types of AR’s. Maybe because of that I had no issue actioning the BCG. However, if part of your training is palming the CH, that isn’t going to happen. I’m just saying the one scenario I know will not work.
I’m not full sold on the offsets, originally I ran the usual Troy BUIS, and may yet go back to the Troy’s. This first outing was more to run through different ammo with and with a can to see how it performed gas-wise and to get a quick feel for the accuracy of the CA barrel. So I didn’t run any drills flipping the sights up while the weapon was shouldered. I only did that in my shop. But I didn’t see anything to give me alarm then either.

My habit pattern is to deploy offset sights as part of checking the weapon - ie, I pick up the weapon (from a case or safe, whatever), check it’s loaded or load it, then flip them up and leave them up.
