Stick, does that rail being as long as it is and having the light that far forward make the rifle overly front heavy? I've been thinking of getting either a RIS II or Centurion Arms C4 rail with the FSP. It'd go on my 6920 w/16" barrel.

I’ve got a FSP Block2 and ran my x300 up there for a bit and really liked the light there. Mine is a 16” 6920 as well

Works well, and neglible barrel shadow this way. Weight isn't much of a factor with the X300 series, though I would go with the Centurion Arms C4 instead of the heavier and more much expensive RIS II.

If you put that down on concrete and shoot a picture, especially when there are no shadows, you will get a good looking pic. Its hard to tell right now, but it sounds like the parts are decent. What is a PF lower?

Love it. I had that Colt rifle in 2006 and like a damn idiot I sold it to buy two Arsenal 5.56 milled AK's that neither one could get through a single magazine without multiple malfunctions.

I see 6 bolts instead of 4.
They all have six bolts. Only thing I see is the bottom bolt is threaded in from the front.

Yup, they have been six screws since they were designed. Changes from the original were removing the thumb screw and changing it to a flat head screw. There was also a mechanical lock to the receiver which was incorporated, though it was agreed it was not needed as "a fix", and it was just a better safe than sorry item.
My understanding is that the thumb screw was removed to save money, and it was thought of as an item that people would just mess with and loose.

I cannot consistently get pics to work either. There doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason...They work one day, and wont the next. Tinypic and tumblr work but not imgur one day, the the opposite the next. I dont get it tbh.

I’ve been using for two years or so and I have not had any issues posting images, here or wherever else. It’s not the best UI, ut it works and it’s reliable. And it’s free. And they don’t give a crap what kind of pics you post.

It’s actually the other way around. The completely painted gun is the old and the b5 stock setup is the new. Started doing more hog hunting with it and wanted a more versatile platform. The painted Magpul stock and grip are for sale if you are interested.

Drying out after a night shoot at the club last night. 39 degrees and rain but i didn’t even notice.
Two things I learned, PA Armament AFAB hybrid muzzle device does a great job of flash suppression. I was pleasantly surprised.
Secondly, had a chance to try out a friends NODS setup, and it’s awesome. Makes life a lot easier.

The only thing the HK has recent success with top tier groups. People can argue piston vs Di and etc but the fact remains that it is used by elite groups. The Knights is an outstanding rifle and used by elite groups as well, I work for smaller groups in a support role in regards to UAV things so I get to see who has what.
My particular set up has a real deal chrome lined 416 barrel and I have an A3 gas block assembly on the way. RAGHs are not as easy to come by so I guess it’s kinda rare but in the grand theme of the HK world... people have 416D lowers and those are stupid money.

For what it's worth, I carried the 416 for many years and would have exchanged it for an SR variant in a heartbeat. The HK just seemed heavy and clunky and wasn't forgiving in any aspect of the word. (Let me know if I'm getting too technical)

I had one years ago and sold it like an idiot. Europtic has them for sale at a steep discount so I got both 5.56 and 7.62 assemblies.
I like them and the only thing that most people complain about is the ARMS mounts. Having the ability to switch to an illuminated reticle, to a red dot and 1x-4x... is a nice feature.

I like it. It is the end result of trying all the usual suspects over the years (Aimpoints, ACOGs, LPVs, etc.) and not being entirely happy due to my crappy eyesight. With this set up there's no illuminated mil-dot reticle, no tactical turrets and no variable power, but the older I get the more I appreciate simplicity. The entire rifle weighs 7-pounds, 2-ounces unloaded and the simple duplex reticle gives me all the precision I need out to 300 yards.

Glad to see “prototypes” have turned the corner into something actually usable and FUN.

Thanks for the kind words brother. While these were the first Geissele AR-15 rails, they were largely based off of Bill's DoD contract HK 416 SMR rails. I think that's the reason these proto MK1s were GTG from day one. The only critique I have of them, and Geissele shortly changed it, are the protruding barrel nut screw heads, and no built in QD sockets. Once they inlayed the screw heads like they do on a MRP chassis....the MK1 was perfected in my book. I just wish they wouldn't have added the "pear" cut outs on the production models.
With it being Geissele's first AR-15 rail, and the fact it was also their most complicated, and costly rail to produce....most folks never bought one, and they weren't made all that long. It was also released during the height of the lightweight craze which hurt it. I think it was the MK4 that lit the Geissele fire that roars today. If Geissele would bring back the MK1, it would see a totally different response imho.
These are protos of Geissele's first three rail models....bottom to top: MK2/MK1/MK4. You can see Geissele's evolution to more LW rails (MK4 which spawned the new models) VS. uber bombproof rails (MK1 & MK2 models).

The DoD put in a request for a modular, upgraded handguard for the HK 416s.....two options emerged, and are both strikingly similar in appearance and design. It's never been fully acknowledged to my knowledge what specific group uses the Geissele HK SMR rails, however many believe CAG mainly uses them, and they have been seen with them in a number of pics:

The other option was made by Remington, model name RAHG. It's speculated that DEVGRU prefers the RAHG, and there is a few pictures showing them on DEVGRU rifles...most notably on one of the most famous rifles in history:

The DoD put in a request for a modular, upgraded handguard for the HK 416s.....two options emerged, and are both strikingly similar in appearance and design. It's never been fully acknowledged to my knowledge what specific group uses the Geissele HK SMR rails, however many believe CAG mainly uses them, and they have been seen with them in a number of pics:

That’s really solid and sturdy looking rail. Unfortunately my money tree didn’t survive 2 marriages and so I don’t see an HK in my future - so won’t be needing a RAHG. Regardless it’s a nice looking rail. Similar to a quad-rail minus the picatinny @ 3/6/9.

The 10.4" GB is plugged(there are 10.4" vented gas blocks too) and the 14.5", 16.5" all came with vented blocks from the factory. Right now I have a Vltor A5 with a heavy buffer which helps with cycling but I'd like for it to be a tad smoother hence the addition of the A3 gas block. With that said my MK18 is super smooth with the NT4 but is also gassy so I don't put too much into gassing on SBRs.

I’m of a similar mindset. I’ve used adjustable gas blocks before, it these days I use non-adjustable gas block. IMO it reduces a potential failure point. But that’s just my experience. Anyway, I take a little high temp RTV and run a bead along the horseshoe of my charging handle. Call it a cheapskate gas buster, but it does work. I also use the A5 system on all my builds, unless the stock requires something different.

I have pretty large hands, and long fingers as well. You can see how the grip locks in at the bottom of my hand in this pic. Hopefully it is of some help. Anyone who has ever had an A2 shift in their hand while doing clearing work probably gets what I mean (or anything similar).

Correct. 1-4. Not daylight bright but very close to 1x which was important to me. Quite clear. Pretty forgiving eye box. I'm happy.
I have a 1-8 I haven't gotten mounted yet.

It does a good job at protecting the lens, and after several hundred rounds fired after putting it on, the cap stays on the light head, and stays closed. These pictures are after the several hundred rounds fired over the course of 2-3 trips to the range. Now I just have to figure out where it came from besides my Ziploc full of random scope caps:D

That’s an excellent idea and super well done. I rarely shoot it unsuppressed but now I have 3 other NT4 mounted rifles so I’m bound to shoot one without the can.

Wish I had a NT4, I hear they're one of the most durable suppressors made. That or the MK11 suppressor are coolest looking cans in my book.

Now, I just need to make a range trip to see if there is any difference in accuracy or not. There should not be a difference.

I think you need to revist what a VFG is. A VFG is one which is 90 degrees. The BCM is not 90 degrees, and does not fall under the purview of being vertical.

That rifle case is tops for value imho if it's the one from Primary Arms. Got a 36" black model during their BF sale for like $36 IIrc. I've had several different combos of rifles in it thus far, and it fit everything great. The seams, material, and construction would make you swear it's not NCstar. Great Kiss rifle laying on top of it as well;)
A very good friend of mine who didn't know much about firearms ask me for recs for a budget .308 AR, optic, and mount for hunting in Alabama. He was looking at Aero, DPMS, PTR-91, etc. cause that was his budget. I rec'd a S&W 10 16" optics ready model, a Vortex budget line optic, and a PA extended 1" mount. To my surprise, my friend did exactly that. We shot it w/ irons together to let him pop the cherry on the NIB gun, and then he sent it home with me for a week to mount the optic, run some more mags through it, and then zero it with a specific ammo he got for deer hunting. I gave the rifle back today to him. For roughly $900, It's a ton of gun for the money. S&W proves you can do a fully ambi lower base model gun for $900.

It is a title 1 Colt 40mm grenade launcher with a Colt 30mm smooth bore barrel attached. One day I'll probably form 4 it and get a standard 40mm barrel for it, but until then it works fine for launching fireworks & smokes, ect.
