I always pop wood when RA posts pics of his guns.
I think my wife is getting jealous.....:D
Edited to add: I still need to thank Ace for inspiring me to get the tattoo that I have wanted since I was a kid.
So, Thanks RustedAce, I got the tattoo that is my avatar back in Oct. 2006 because I saw your tat in pics of yourself in the sandbox on the other AR site. Gracias mi amigo!
Is that the Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes symbol?
I remember that from when I was a kid.
guns make me poor.

can see more details in this pic.
Missing from this pic is the XCR which is a 12.5, 7.62x39 and a Noveske N4 light which I have sold, and one of the uppers which is in the process of being sold.
Nice collection, I feel so inadequate now with just 4 ARs.....:p

Yup, sure is.
Wanted it since I was a kid and collected the comic books.

Wait what? Am I that far behind the times? Are they going to be releasing these to the GP? How do I get access to one.... or 5?
Ok I just realized I have become an unabashed Magpul fanboy.
Stickman, do you when Magpul is planning to release to the public for sale of their billet AR15 lower?

I'm not really sure if they will be but I'm hoping. Maybe they will do special runs of stripped lowers kind of like KAC does?
They won't be as far as we know, only way to get them is on gunbroker for a HIGH price, or on one of the limited run NOVESKE rifles that occasionally come out.
And that mag release is a Norgon Ambi-catch release.

The Magpul lowers were a limited production run by Noveske, and not for public consumption. Too bad. They'd make a ton of money if they went back into production. Maybe BCM can pick up the slack on these lowers (Just wishful thinking).

While my personal favorite is the Magpul trigger guard, I think that SMOS does a nice job on their trigger guards, it has a solid look to it and clean lines.

Exactly. I have some NM sights on order that I'll adapt to fit the Colt carry handle which will have a .040" aperture and a thinner front sight post. These will be pretty slow up close which is why I added the JP irons off on the side 'home-boy' style.

Tactical Innovations BDX, but yes, the same as Denny's. I think TI makes them for Denny's. Rainier Arms actually has them for sale right now at a pretty decent price, at least for billet.

Looks great TX12-how about slapping on a DD M4 RIS II instead of the MK 18 RIS II?

I’m planning on having the barrel cut to 10.5 and making the gun an SBR.

Here is an update to mine. These are probably my best guns both pistol and Rifle wise. For someone who is a good photog in some cases I sure suck at taking photos of my firearms. They are still in a state of Flux. I am adding a longer rail to the Smith and am probably going to sell the RRA.

Here's a couple pics I snapped from yesterday's HAVA Wounded Warrior Shoot/2nd Annual National Family Day in San Antonio. I had a GREAT time meeting all of my fellow Wounded Warrior brothers and sisters and putting lots of rounds down range with them.
My BCM 11.5" got a 1,000 round workout over 3.5 hours. This warrior has a wicked bionic arm/hand that he controls using his forearm muscles:

True Heroes all of them.
I bet every one their loved your SBR :D
Yeah they all loved my BCM 11.5" SBR. Almost all of them said something to the effect of, "Damn this is nice, I LOVE this thing, man! It has NO recoil and it's just so light weight... but goddamn it's LOUD!!!":D
Another former Marine also brought his SCAR 16S out there, with a Gemtech G5 suppressor attached. It was also very popular, and his gun and mine probably saw the most use in the rifle section of the firing line. I also fired his SCAR because I've still never had a chance to shoot one. He had an aimpoint t-1, but I think it wasn't zeroed because he just ran the factory iron sights on it all day. It shot pretty well and I dinged the hell out of the 100-yard steel plate using the irons on it.
The Gemtech G5 can performed GREAT and I was very impressed with it! Although the blowback into my face was actually the worst I've ever experienced when shooting suppressed, but I'm not sure if it was because of the SCAR itself, or the fact that it was just being shot SO much and was SO hot, and maybe that had something to do with the extra blowback of gases into my face... not quite sure.
The SCAR got a hell of a workout too though. Just like my BCM SBR, the SCAR 16S with the suppressor mounted the ENTIRE time had about 1,000+ rounds fired though it over a period of 3 1/2 hours (45 minutes of being almost constantly shot, then a 10 minute break for our 15-20 man groups to change stations, then another 45 minutes being shot). Both my BCM 11.5" and the SCAR 16S ran great without any issues, other than 1 user-induced malfunction on mine from the guy riding the charging handle.
I also brought my Walther P22 with a Tactical Innovations Stratus suppressor mounted. That was extremely well received and loved by all the shooters as well. But I found out at breakfast this morning that it malfunctioned quite a bit, due to the fact that they weren't using any high quality and high velocity .22 ammo in it, which is a must for that particular pistol.
Here's another pic from the shoot. Although I wanted her to collapse the stock a bit, this warrior was drilling the shit out of the 100-yard plate better than the majority of the guys out there... so I kept my mouth shut and let her do her thing:)

Sometimes true, sometimes not. I have shown up to several classes and it was a rainbow of guns and gear. Other times it is like the photo above. I have changed out my kit during a class just to try out what the inst. advocated. Sometimes it stayed and sometimes I went back to how I had it before. The point is to try out what the inst. has to offer and take or leave what you will from the class.
What I want to know is how many of those EoTechs were still working at the end of that class? 40-50% failure is what I have seen over the last few years. I truely hope that they have worked out the problems with the site as I know lots of folks prefer them.

Glad to see the Wounder Warrior Project shirt. On my 1st deployment I got some type of lung infection which became a pneumonia. Day it hit I had trouble breathing, and went to the sick call place on BIAP. This was early 2004 so wasnt setup real good then. Anyways ended up being medivac'd to a cash unit, and spent 4-5 days there on IV's in the ICU. O2 level in my blood was close to basically drowning as my lungs were so full of crap. After that I was sent to Germany, and spent 3 days there. Got well enough my unit came and picked me up.
In Germany I showed up with just my pants, boots, and and a shirt. Nothing else. Hadn't had a shower in over 2 weeks by then. The people from Wounded Warrior came around with backbacks full of goodies. I was able to take a shower, get some clean clothes, a shave, and I felt so much better. Got to call my folks with the phone card they gave me, too.
Now I make sure to donate to them when I get the chance, and I still have the backpack they gave me with all the good stuff. I'm glad to see they are hooking people up with things our mil never would.

This Wounded Warrior here has basically the same level of spinal cord injury that I have (T12/L1 completely paralyzed from the waist down). I had shown him a lot of the shooting and weapon manipulation skills and techniques earlier in the day after I saw the ear-to-ear smile on his face from shooting my BCM 11.5" SBR. He was eating it up like crazy and picked things up fast in the 5 short minutes I worked with him!
So you can all imagine his face just lighting the **** up like a parachute flare when I told him that the BCM 16" Mid-Length upper receiver group I had sitting in my lap was actually for HIM!!
I've never seen someone be more appreciative for anything like that before, even when getting more expensive stuff! His name was Marco, and like the majority of the vets at the HAVA event, he was a fellow jarhead too:D
Marco and I are going to keep in touch and I'm gonna help him build that beautiful blaster into something that he'll actually be able to use all day long in a carbine class or something... and of course, I'll make sure it looks cool as shit too!!

So where's the ball of fire coming out of your Triple Tap?
Out of all the pictures I shot, there are two that show muzzle flash from the TT. I think I caught those as powder had built up, especially on the second one. :D
I noticed SERIOUS flash out of the SBR + Triple tap, even when my 11.5" Triple Tapped setup was damn near new. Beats me why it's so bad. And it's incredibly hard to capture on camera, I had to video the gun at night and go through frame by frame to capture it.
And it's usually on the 4th or 5th shot, so I wonder if unburnt powder builds up, then gets blown out in that dramatic reaction.

Also the dirtier the triple tap gets, the worse the flash gets. I think it's about damn time I finally clean mine because the muzzle flash was pretty bad even with the 40gr Hornady v-max that was being shot through my blaster.
But as Titleist said, it's really hard to capture the muzzle blast. And when it is captured in the photo, it's usually by luck, even when you're actually trying like hell to get it.

I found an overnight soak in Slip Carbon Cutter works well for cleaning the inside of the TP out. Then use the small end of a GI brush...I had some green/blue build up as well as the black carbon, and it came out looking new.

All this talk of triple taps and muzzle flash, thought i'd share a quick video clip from a recent trip to the range. Crappy quality video but you can see the flash pretty good. Brand new triple tap on a LMT CQB MRP 12" piston.

I've got over 3000 rounds through my SBR's triple tap, pretty clean surprisingly. It's only when running suppressed does it get caked up, for obvious reasons.
I think the TTB gives the most perceptible results on SBRs, but it also gives the most obnoxious fireball. It's a give and a take obviously.
Thanks for the video.

The chest rig? it's a TAG (tactical assault gear) Gladiator
The .22 conv. kit is a CMMG, and it rocks. That one trip I shot off 400rds without one hiccup. And I've never had a problem with it in the past either, it's probably at 1500rds now.

What .22LR ammo are you primarily using? I either have the CMMG or the Ciener (sp?) and hardly use it anymore simply because I hate dealing with all the malfunctions I routinely get. I would always use CCI high velocity .22LR round nose ammo too, just like the manual recommends.
However, I always wondered if I just wasn't lubricating it enough in the places that matter most.

a KX3 equipped barrel needs to be 13.7 inches to become 16 inches overall.
here's a 13.7/KX3 on a Larue Gooseneck rail (10/11"). you can see how long that rail needs to be to hide that much of the KX3

I've since sold it. It did shoot pretty well for the short time I owned it.
Here's my Stag partial build. I put the lower together and bought the upper.

This one's been pretty reliable. Every so often, the bolt doesn't stay back after the last round.
Finally my latest addition...soon to take the place of my Stag.

yeah, this was the old Noveske Infidel. 13.7" and the KX3 come out to a 16 OAL barrel. it used a midlength gas system

DD makes a 12" version of the M4.
EDIT: apparently not in FDE, my bad. Maybe they used to make the 12" model in FDE.

7" and 9" are only available in the FDE color on their website, not sure if Stick' being the Uber Master he is, got his hands on a 12" FDE....
In black they do have a 12" however.

i think it needs to be LONGER than a 12, or the barrel is shorter than 16" OAL. maybe a 12" barrel and the KX3

Actually the 12" DD Lite rails in FDE are out there, I guess DD just doesn't have them on their site or something, or maybe only certain dealers can buy them. I have no idea, I just know that BCM offers a 16" mid-length upper with a DD 12" FDE Lite rail on their website.

I shot the FDE M4 pictures for their website including the 12.0 FDE DD M4 rails quite awhile ago, I'm not sure why they never were put up. The DD Lite rail in FDE is probably a more popular item. I don't talk to the guys at DD very often anymore or I would get you a better answer on it being a stock item.

This is my first AR that I have owned for a little over 2 years now. Never had a problem with it. I haven't done allot to it functionally, but the few little things I have done have worked out great.
M&P 15T
Aimpoint T-1 in Larue high mount
Daniel Defense Fixed front sight (replaced Troy)
Troy Rear sight
Streamlight TLR 1 in 12o'clock position
Magpul Miad w/ enhanced trigger guard
LMT ambi safety
Magpul B.A.D. lever
Magpul ASAP plate w/ MS2 sling
Tango Down Stubby vert grip to use as a hand stop
Vltor Emod (I go back and forth with a Magpul CTR here, EMod balances better, CTR is more comfy.)
Though this is not my first post, it is one of my first, as I generally just lurk around and check out Stick's pictures.
Thanks for all the good threads here and general info/knowledge.

It's accurate and reliable like you would expect any Noveske, but the set-up is less than optimal.
I almost built an "Infidel" a year ago, but had the chance to try one out before I did. The problem with the "Infidel" setup is that it is very heavy, feels poorly balanced (especially with a CTR stock), and really is a poor compromise to just having an SBR.
A 14.5" "Afghan" with a perm attached a Vortex, Phantom, or Blackout is a much better option for as short as possible without going NFA.

I built mine shortly after trying out the Magpul guys' ones. they were soft shooting and very comfortable to be near. there is zero side blast, doesn't kick up crap from the dirt, and is sturdy as hell.
yes, it's heavy, but i use SOPMOD stocks and it balances OK. it was very manageable, especially after using the MD guys' ones. they had two flashlights, tape switches, PEQ's, etc. my barebones one was a lightweight in comparison.
the barrels were near 1/2 MOA at 100 and ringing steel at 400 yards was not very difficult.

Just took this pic this morning after sighting it in on the 50yd line. Mostly a stock 6920 but I swapped the Magpul stock and grip (after pic was taken) and added the MOE handguard. Also removed the sling point under the front sight to mount my Wilcox Power Grip. I'd like to convert it to mount to a rail instead of the barrel but that will come in time and may require a call to Wilcox (or a roadtrip since they're next door in NH!)

What exactly is a Wilcox Power Grip?

What exactly is a Wilcox Power Grip?
This is what I came up with when I googled it. It's from an ad on Craig's List (of all places):
Wilcox nightstalker powergrip for ar-15/m-16 or any rifle with rail mounts or bayonet lug. NOT FOR HANDGUNS!
This unit has visable laser plus 100 lumen 90 minute 9v light. This unit has power indicator that tells you how long until battery is gone via a lcd window.you can also set the blink rate for the laser, this means when everone elses is a solid yours blinks so you can tell which one is yours.
This unit has never been in the field.this unit has a $60 bonus of a removable ir lens via rubber cup that fits over the end for night ops. Also has bayonet lug mount if you don't have a rail system. The cost is $450 You will not find these units anywhere. It comes in the box with instructions and target for sighting. This is a great unit and will not find it again.
The grip is removable it comes off and you can position the switch pad anywhere on the grip. It has pins that rotate into place so you can configure it on any side 360.This is really good if you look over all things that it does. Light/ laser grip.
http://images.craigslist.org/3od3p93l15O15Ta5Sf9an4cf945fb355516c2.jpg
So it's basically a vert grip that has a light and visible laser built in to it. Apparently they also make a model with an IR laser as well for those who can legally acquire one.
This is the first time I've ever seen or heard of this accessory. I personally wouldn't want something so bulky on my own carbine, especially since in order to use it you have to employ a "tennis racket" grip, as opposed to a more aggressive and dominant grip that is being taught and used today. But to each his own. If it works great for those who have them, then I guess that's all that matters.
I personally prefer my Larue FUG (with stubby insert) and Surefire X300 over anything else I've come across thus far. I like the Tango Down stubby grips too (the models without the QD). But that's just me.
Semper Fi,
-Paul

Looks like a fun day. Ummm, what's with the pistol in the pocket..!?!?!?!

Very Nice!!! I need another 308, instead of waiting to get a POF, maybe I should get a DPMS to keep my Rock River company.

Or you can do what I did and build your own off a POF lower receiver and a DPMS upper half with a few tweaks. I got what I wanted and it was pretty inexpensive when compared to buying a complete setup plus it has the components I wanted.

Nothing against DPMS or the POF, but I'd take a look at the LaRue OSR before making your choice.

That OSR is slick and nice! I want one!

Isn't there an adapter you need to buy to place the DPMS upper on a POF lower? I haven't been able to find one for sale. But that is an idea I should look at again, Thanks!

Took my latest POF purchase and my LWRC this past weekend to sight in.

Only issue there is the waiting period is probably worse than the POFs. The DPMS would only be an interim solution while I was waiting for the POF.

Thats a Harris Bipod.
That is correct, it is a Harris Bipod model 1A2. I love it, makes bench/prone shooting very simple and accurate (able to shoot 1 hole groups at 100 yards with our loads).
Figured I'd do a sort of 'night fighting' themed photo setup:

What type of spacer is that on your CTR buttstocks?
Shawn (Viper223)
The newest addition. Needs some work to make it right, but I think when I am done with it, it will be GTG... Please no LWRCI shit or piston garbage.

Nice looking & PERFORMING blaster, have one myself.
I would love to try out a LWRC one day! The two screws in front of the rail are for securing/removing the 12 o'clock section, right?

Does anyone know the makes of these rifles? I am assuming the one on the left is possibly a KAC? I know Costa runs them and it seems that Haley likes to run the M&P 15T's from time to time. Is the one on the right possibly a Smith or am I way off. Just curious as I have been excited about Magpul Dynamics running the M&P line at their classes.
Thanks, Ky Cop
A surefire followed my newly stippled M&P home today and kicked the TLR1 off my rifle.

Rifle on right is a KAC SR15 E3 IWS.
And IIRC, the one on the left is a Frankenrifle with a LaRue 11" SBRS Gooseneck rail and 12" barrel.

Thank you! I am looking forward to adding a NF 2.5-10 and seeing what it can do.:D

Correct. It takes about 2 seconds to remove and to get to the piston...

Right is in fact an SR-15 E3 IWS. Left is an LMT Defender 2000 lower with a Larue Stealth 12" (11" gooseneck rail).

CHECK.
As a suggestion,
FWIW,
I have the same scope in 32 mm obj. and recommend that comparatively to the 24mm Obj.
Excellent value and quality.

Interesting that you bring that up... I was going to go with the 24mm because of the size. I really like the size with the smaller tube, but seeing as how it will more than likely be a steel gun 100-500yds your recommendation is probably a sound one for that application. I wont be humping it so it shouldn't really matter... I did really like the looks of the 24mm size though.
Why don't you hear more about the NF NXS series? It seems to be one of the better values on the market from the research I have done...

The extra mm obj. size does not on this application alter the relation of scope height on receiver rail to mounting platform used. That being said, I want ALL the light I can get in for Target/Threat ID etc.
There is NO guarantee when (specifically the time of day or weather conditions) of you may have to deploy this for hunting etc. ;) as these are unknown variables.
Regrading hearing more about the NF NXS, the word is out and has been for a few years now. Some people have not gotten the MEMO just like other issues in the industry (i.e. endorsement / marketing SCHILLS, frauds etc.)
USE it and enjoy it's efficacy.
HTH and enjoy !

Like I said above, almost the same rifle as glockeyed, and the same floor! I'm waiting on a Vickers sling in FG from Bravo Company, and a swivel for the front sight.
