You sure that's an LMT upper?
exactly what i was thinking. never seen a standard LMT middy, much less a non-MRP without a standard FSB
You sure that's an LMT upper?
Its a custom build, it has a LMT forged upper receiver with a Match Grade Wilson LMT cut barrel with M4 feed ramps,l with a custom built low-pro gas block. I have a Troy TRX Extreme coming for it.
Why do you question it? Did I get ripped off? I'm new to this so any advise would be awesome!!!
I purchased it from Andy at M&A Parts Inc. New

Match Grade Wilson LMT cut barrel with M4 feed ramps
never heard of this before
never heard of this before
This is what I was told it is:
Our uppers are from Lewis Machine and Tool (LMT). Our barrels are Wilson Match /Rock /Match Grade 4140 Chrome Moly. LMT cuts, finishes and chambers the barrels. LMT assembles, times, headspaces, chambers and function test fires each barreled upper (not every third or fifth one as some suppliers might) and all of the other minor parts included are from current US Govt contract machine shops. The same first-rate US Govt contractor that we have always used for the bolt/carrier assemblies is still our supplier. They prefer anonymity. While we absolutely stand by and attest to the above, know that most of our component parts are "sanitized", that is- without marks, for obvious reasons when you consider the nature of the needs of the larger section of our customer base
The upper looks good to me. It fits awesome on my Spikes lower and the color is exactly the same.

i'd be bouncing that rear BUIS/handstop off the gravel/concrete/dirt/mud/grass every time i slid into prone. not a good place for a piece of precision instrumentation.

the SOG lower does not like pmags. they dont drop freely at all. but it loves the tangodown mags.
as far as optics go i was thinking about aimpoint's micro T-1. but i dont know what height to get for sure, since the CASV is mounted on the flattop it would be high. i have a another aimpoint but its on another rifle. any other suggestions for optics? im kinda new here. https://www.m4carbine.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Damn Titleist, is that four PEQ15s now!?!? Also any chance you can get a shot from the other side of the sr25, showing the light mount a bit better, as well as maybe one from the front of the gun. Is that one of the new off-set Scout light mounts? Does it interfere with the vis laser?
Thanks

Nice blaster there brother. :D How are you liking the SF Mini-Scout light?
Thanks, man! I'm really diggin' the new mini-scout. It seems to take up less space and be less bulky than my X300s I run. Weight-wise it's practically the same as the X300. The beam is slightly more focused than the X300, but both of their throws are great. They both light up the target (too) easily at 100 yards.
I'd highly recommend either weaponlight, although I do now personally prefer the M300 mini-scout. I need to buy a FDE one now:D

This is the hotness.
How's the balance with the can vs without? Maybe a little review of the upper/brake/suppressor when you get a chance?
Thanks, man!
The balance sucks with the can mounted, as it just makes it so damn front heavy. But I mainly got the suppressor to run on my SBR. For this upper and my 16" upper, I'll mainly only shoot them with the can on when I have a rest. I simply can't handle that much front-heaviness for more than a few minutes of training and running it hard. Although it's difficult for me to judge since I'm in a chair, I think most able-bodied shooters would be able to run this setup in a 2-3 day carbine course, so long as they're in shape. But after a while it'll wear anyone out if they're not running it on an SBR.
I won't be able to shoot this upper with the can mounted for a few weeks though. I need to have the muzzle device permanently installed first. Right now I just have it on there with a crush washer, so that I can make damn sure I want the brake pinned on there for good or not, or go with the SF flash hider instead. That's a registered SBR lower it's sitting on in the pics, but it makes no sense to me (for my personal application) to have an actual 14.5" SBR when it's already just over 16" with the brake installed.
But I'll post an update after I get a chance to really run the upper a little bit.

-Paul

it may be kinda plain compared to some of the beautiful rifles pictured in this thread. this is my first AR(which ive wanted for about twenty years, or as soon as i saw the movie platoon as a kid!). i just finished building it last week and have ran about 120 rounds through it. it's a rock river arms stripped lower built up with a DTI 16" chrome lined HBAR A2 upper. the scope's a cheapie until i can afford something a little nicer. i also added the rail under the gas block for options later on down the road. i love my AR and cant wait to build another! thanks for looking.4569

Thanks guys, I appreciate the nice comments;)
... Looks great, hows it shoot?
Although I haven't yet run it with this particular suppressor, it runs great! It's got a smaller gas port, set up for mostly suppressed use. It'll run pretty well without a can mounted, depending on ammo. It has much less recoil than a normal suppressed SBR, and less blowback too. When firing unsuppressed, it actually has less recoil than a 16" middy upper (FYI, it was a one-time only custom port job done for me by a couple of good friends of mine in the industry;)).
Here's a video of it in use. You never actually see the carbine, just the impacts on steel 100 yards downrange, caught by a camera with a PVS-14 mounted in front of it. All of the shots that my IR laser/illuminator is just right of the target are from me firing this SBR. Neither my aimpoint T-1 or PEQ-15 were BZO'd for this carbine b/c I did a switch-a-roo at the last minute. Once I figured out that my rounds were impacting low and left just off the target, I compensated by shooting high right just off the target. I had a PVS-14 mounted behind my aimpoint, so I would also just use the illum function to light up the target and use my T-1 on NV setting to engage, which worked very well. It was a friggin' blast!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDxzYIBbPTg
The shots you see without any IR laser/illum are from a 6.8 upper using a 4X NV scope, and there's also one long full auto burst fired from a .22 upper sitting on an M16 lower.

Cool video Paul! What are you doing for activation of the PEQ15? Thought about the SF dual activation switch for that 12oclock position?
Unless you have a LOT of rail space I'd suggest just mounting the PEQ forward, and rolling your thumb up and using the TOP FIRE button.
The dual pad is nice, but it required the use of KAC T-1 mounts otherwise I had to push my T-1/Larue combos way back to accommodate that setup.

I may be wrong but it looks like he might be able to squeeze it in by replacing the SR07. I disagree with moving the PEQ forward however. I used to run my PEQ forward like you say but realized (thanks to some people much more hi-speed than I) that I should not compromise my grip of the weapon. Optimally, one should configure the accessories to work around your own proper grip. With me I am very high on the fore-end and my hand was hitting the PEQ when in the forward position, so I didn't have quite the control I could have. Another option for him would be to leave the setup as is and add a regular pressure switch to the left side in between the 12 and 9 o'clock rails. (which he may well have) That's how I have mine as I don't have the space for the dual switch either.

It runs great. The Triple Tap is insanely good at reducing muzzle flip, however I have never tried the PWS FSC unit. I will be putting that on my other build and will have a better idea if the TT was worth the price of admission. This combo with an H Buffer is running really nice but is ejecting to somewhere around the 4, 4:30. I might try a carbine buffer or an H2 buffer to see what they do.

When the vid was taken, I hadn't messed around with pad location much and before I left the house, since I was already running 2 hours late, I just stuck one of the velcro strips on the side of the PEQ and ran the pad there, which was NOT optimal, especially in the dark when you can't see and are going by touch. The next day I messed around with it and tried to wedge it in between the 9 and 12 o'clock rails, but it just wouldn't fit. I don't know if I was just not applying enough pressure to it to shove it in there, or if my URX rail and XTM panels combo doesn't allow it to fit in there like the KAC panels do that I saw in your previous pics a while back.
I'm considering the dual pressure pad, but would like to try and make this work first. If I did get the dual pad, I'd simply move the T-1 back a notch or two to make room, because I'm not going to move the PEQ-15 forward and make it more front heavy than it already is with the suppressor attached, which isn't so bad as of now, although I do get your point.
ETA: I can wedge the pad in there when the SR07 switch is removed from the 12 o'clock rail, but not when it's attached.

I run an SR07 and based on your pics it looks like yours is about an inch or so longer than an SR07. Hey Titleist,
Now that you've been using the KAC Aimpoint mount, how do you like it compared to the LaRue mount? Is the weight the same?

I like in that it's not marring like the Larue. That said there's some stuff i dislike about it. I wish the spacers were aluminum and locked in a bit more uniformly, so that the optic didn't have as much side to side play if you have to make a change on the spacer(s). I also find the locking arm's retention system to be less secure a design than the Larue's system, so it's a give and a take.
I run the KAC's because they're a bit lighter, and on my SR-15 the slight cantilevered design gives me just enough room to access the battery compartment on my PEQ-15.

Well yea... I do, I do, I do... but I'm gonna be happy with what I have (for now).
$250 beats $1700 for the purposes that I'm gonna use it for. :D
If you're not shooting in low or no-light situations, then the K-15 will do a great job.
Okay, sorry to be so chatty and not as photo snappy.

How does the RDS on top of the ACOG work for you? Did you deploy with that setup?

I did deploy with it. Initially I didn't like the location of it and didn't want it. Once I got somewhat used to it I didn't mind it much. It definitely takes some getting used to though.

It is actually an NcStar red/green dot. 4 different rectiles in both colors. Love it for what it is, a $40 device. I am planning on getting a better scope at the next gun show.

Thanks, it's basically evolved over the last year in to this setup. The KAC mount you see is the full height mount, so lower 1/3rd co-witness.
Not sure about the finish, mine was a little un-even on the surface, it'll get scratched up soon enough. :P

Titleist is that a recent production surefire M600C? The color looks for flat tan then shinny gold like the one I picked up a couple months ago.
It's still got some gold flake to it, but it's more tan than anything. To be honest I found the surface finish to be kind of patchy in areas.
My M300 mini-scout also has the same flatter surface finish:

That might just give me an excuse to buy a tan mini scout and turn another black gun tan.
Im lovin your sr-15 i dont think you could make it any better, but knowing you you'll find a way ;)
As far as I'm concerned that gun is done...well until I can get my hands on one of those new Surefire's with the TIR/Vampire heads.
But the SR-15 really is my work horse rifle, close to 11k rounds through it. I just love that thing.

I had a chance to mess with one a few weeks back and the 95mW IR output was nice but the LED was definitely lacking. I guess its a trade off for having the ability to switch from Vis to IR

weight?? that was the point of the build, afterall, right?
I have a postal scale coming in. I estimated on paper for the rifle to weigh around 5.5 lbs. When the scale comes in this week, we will see how much it really weighs. It would be lighter if I got a 14.5" carbine vs 16 middy, but I want to stick with 16s. 16" carbine lightweight would be slightly lighter than 16 middy too, but I prefer middys.
Not the lightest I can get of course, had to balance it out with personal preferences.

These units, LDI and Insight units, have to be ordered on departmental purchase requests. The FDA closed a lot of the loopholes of officer private purchases a few years back.

Negative. As per Leroy Thompson's article in SWAT Mag this month (actually the May 2010 issue), where he "reviews" the CEU, Aimpoint is personally choosing to limit sales of the CEU to LEO and .Mil customers only at this time.

BCM (everything with CavArms hand guard)
BCM (just like the one above it)
The BCM/Stag and Sabre guns both started around 2006. After trying several different configurations, this is what I ended up with. There honestly isn't anything on these two that I would change at current. The ML3's with the 2MOA work great with a magnifier, The XTM panels allow me to add a bipod quickly if I want to shoot like that. Slings pop on the QD points. Tada!
The bottom two guns represent what I'd consider an ideal out of the box set up.

Here is my (now purportedly defunct) ADS Alpha Basic ordered right on the night Obama is elected. Changes include a BFG VCAS Padded sling, Magpul MIAD grip, and a used Aimpoint M2 with a LaRue LT-150 mount. Not particularly accurate (about 3 MOA from 100yds), but it never skips a beat beside one magazine related failure chambering Wolf steel case ammo.
Now, I'm waiting for the Magpul plastic rails, MOE handguard and a saving up for a Streamlight TLR-1s and I'll have the perfect home defense rifle!
Pics are up, enjoy!

First rifle after getting back into ARs. BCM complete middy upper 14.5" with AAC Blackout. On a YHM complete lower, the quality of which is pleasantly suprising. 3 more complete rifles are in the plan for the future and at least 1 more upper. Don't have any real use for alot of rails but will get one or two, a 6940 for sure and maybe a VTAC (XTR? the LW one?). Will be one 6.8 middy in the mix too, likely complete DD. Most everything else will be Colt from now on, as it was in the past.

There are very few Bushmaster parts left.

The barrel will be replaced once the Form 1 clears. She will get a 12.5" barrel and become a CQB SBR.
BCG is by BCM. Stock is a Magpul CTR, grip is a MIAD, sights are MBUS, forward grip is an AFG, Magpul BAD and Magpul rail covers.
Laser is a K-15 LaserLyte green laser, and the flash suppressor is a Noveske KX3 'Flaming Pig'.
