Well I did some shooting with friends... here are a few pics and videos...
http://s459.photobucket.com/albums/qq311/shrockster/?action=view¤t=Shootin17Aug022.mp4
I love this video as it shows how good the PWS compensator works... but it really does some thumping... the sad part of this is that my friend had ordered a Battlecomp to replace the PWS... and it arrived after we left to go shooting...

Just picked up my AR yesterday that was a birthday gift to myself. Its a S&W M&P15 I picked up from the CDNN deal for $699 after rebates. I was planning on getting a Bushmaster this fall/winter but this S&W sale pushed that up.
I would also like to note/thank this site as there is a TON of helpful info here. Thank you.

Since we are showing M&P's, this is my current SPR with an 18" LaRue Stealth upper.
http://www.mdshooters.com/gallery/files/4/4/4/1/spr-001.jpg
The M&P lower will soon become a suppressed SBR 9mm AR using Uzi magazines.
The LaRue SPR upper seen above will soon get a custom built LaRue lower. :)

Looking good brother!

Boy 'o boy! There is a whole lot of eye candy in this thread!
I started on the last page & worked my way backwards, I got about 2/3s of the way before my eyes crossed.
What the hell, I'll play.
An old school SP1 that took me years to talk a co-worker out of. Every time I pick it up I'm amazed at how light it is.

An SDM-R that I built off of a DSA "Spartan" receiver. It has a 1/7 Superior Barrels "Hoplite" barrel, and is now wearing a Nightforce NXS scope in a Larue mount. Suppressor is an AAC SPR/M4.
http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l211/saleen9165/SDM-R/DSC00008.jpg
My daily carry carbine. It's an SBR built on a Bushmaster receiver and LMT upper. Suppressor is an AAC M4-2000 Mod 08.

These are some ongoing projects. The one on top has a 1 in 12 twist barrel and will get a forward handle mount with a Comp M2. It will eventually get a retro lower. The one on the bottom is a new mid-length carbine from Daniel Defense.

love the pictures, is the magazine stippled or stickered?
Thanks pal:)
The mags are stippled as well, I just use a larger pattern or larger actual stipple mark to create deeper texture for the mags.
I did these for a buddy last week, turned out pretty nice I think

My first AR-15 with my Glocks looking envious around it. No making fun of my Stag! I've actually been considering re-purposing my Stag as a loaner: basically just put on fully ambidextrous controls and take off the Redi-Mag. I think I'll do that once I build my next project. The current plan is to make a BCM 14.5" middie that's as light as possible set up as a home defense gun.

BCM 14.5 middy on BM lower (the lower was part of my AWB-compliant M4gery from when I lived in NY). Not evident in these photos are the Geissele SSA trigger and G&R Tactical Magpul CTR Carbine Stock MIL-Spec Package with H buffer. It is still unfired, but that will be taken care of next weekend.

I'm sure your signature line has alot to do with the way you are being perceived here. You should stick around M4C and read the technical threads for a while. There are a lot of knowledgeble as well as professional folks around here. A statement as bold as the one in your sig line is not going to fly without some substantial, quantifiable evidence.

Man I am not trying to be an ass or anything... but it seems that if you were trying to build the best rifles that money could buy you would use different barrels... I mean ones that are HP and MPI'ed... Also I think the reason that people have a problem with the first post is that while you were in the process of letting the mods know that you were a manufacturer, you posted something like that before it was noted... and as for the critisism it goes with saying that you have the best AR's money can buy... it is a bad arguement to say that if the rifles you are selling do not meet the TDP

Great, then maybe before you put a billboard in your sig and post a full page ad it might be a good idea to have already received their permission, and then followed protocol like other professional companies do.

....and since you are the armorer, fix that castle nut on the "Revolution" (first rifle pictured), its on backwards.
Look, people are very friendly here. But they are also very experienced and well informed. There is a right way and a wrong way, to introduce products that you are affiliated with. Plus, making bold, blanket "Best Ar15's In The World" claims, with no data to back it up, is going to light some fires.
Welcome to the forum.

It kind of looks like RAR doesn't actually make anything, they just build rifles using mix'n'matched parts from other companies, and I'm pretty sure the results are not "the best in the world."

I chose to put the castle nut on that way. It's a personal choice. I have my reasons.
First, I will say I did not mean to offend anybody with our slogan. I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people on this site. At the same time, I will not back down from what the slogan says. I do take pride in my work. Once we're sponsors, I will elaborate. But I don't want to do any unintentional advertising again. I will only be doing personal post under the screen name Recon013. Keep in mind, I am not the owner of the company. Also, I have removed the signature. I am looking forward to learning from you guys and contributing when I can. I have seen a lot of very nice rifles on this site. Actually a lot nicer than most of the forums I have been to. That is one of the reasons we would like to sponsor this forum. That said, I hope this turns into a good relationship.

Can you elaborate?
Like I said, it's mostly personal. I've had my forearm get raked across the castle nut a few times. I have a mole on the inside of my forearm and it got caught in the groove. The mole is no longer near as big as it was. It bled like a stuck pig. One day I looked at it and thought, why not turn it around, what could it hurt.

Finally bought myself a Night Enforcer PVS-14 Night Vision monocular from TNVC last week (Thanks Victor!). I've been wanting one forever and now I can finally see my PEQ-15's IR laser/Illuminator without having to borrow my friends' NODs! Woohoo!!:D
I also snagged one of the new BAD-ASS safety selectors last week... these things kick some serious ass and you should definitely buy yourself one!

Holy Hell, man! Now that's a target-indicating muzzle flash right there!! But it does look pretty badass, I'll give ya that!:D
I'd just HATE to be shooting next to you if you were rocking that beast unsuppressed with a brake. I actually have shooters come up to me at one range I rarely shoot at anymore and ask me if I'm shooting a .308 AR whenever I'm shooting my 11.5" upper with the KAC Triple Tap on it, so I can't imagine what they'd think you were shooting if you brought that upper to that range, lol:p

Yeah that's exactly what I noticed as well whenever I did some muzzle flash testing a while back with my 11.5" and Triple Tap brake. The PMC had a very low flash, while the XM193 and 62gr green tip ammo I also shot was a damn fireball out of that thing.
A lot of people don't realize how much difference the ammo they shoot can make when it comes to muzzle flash (as well as barrel length), and unfortunately some people will say a certain flash hider or suppressor "sucks" because they saw more flash come out of it than with another brand.
Looking forward to seeing the vids.

That's a sweet set-up. Quick question on where you mounted your pressure switch. Doesn't your hand/thumb block the illuminator when you activate it using the pressure pad?

That's a sweet set-up. Quick question on where you mounted your pressure switch. Doesn't your hand/thumb block the illuminator when you activate it using the pressure pad?
Unfortunately yes, it does block the illuminator if I'm wanting to use the momentary-on function. So if I'm wanting to go momentary, I'll use the actual Fire button on top of the PEQ. If I'm just going constant-on, which I normally do 9/10 times, I'll double tap the pad and bring my thumb back down out of the way right quick, and it's a non-issue.
I tried mounting it on the 9 o'clock rail like you have yours, and it worked great for the PEQ, but not for my Surefire light. Not only was I concerned about having white light ND's with the pad in that position, but I also couldn't activate the light with my right hand when running the gun support/weak side.
It's a compromise wherever it winds up being mounted, but for me and my personal shooting style, running the dual pad at 12 o'clock is the least amount of compromise. I'm always looking at new options though, and nothing is ever set in stone with me.
Oh yeah, nice blaster too btw!;)

So glad to have a RDS on it now...
Soo I went to my local shop today to buy a PX4 SC that I've been wanting for some time...he had a 10% off sale today so I figured I'd get it, $495 out the door for that!
And of course I've wanted an AR for so long now. Well on the shelf he had a Daniel Defense M4 marked down to $875! He said he's had it for months and nobody even looks twice at it haha, apparently nobody realizes that "Daniel Defense" theyve never heard of is a much higher quality rifle than the RRA and Bushmasters they keep buying. He said I'm the first one who picked it up and knew it was a better make than those other ones....sooo I bought it. I originally really wanted a middy for my first one, but I grabbed the carbine anyway. It'll do!

If you're really wanting QD, I'd recommend the Larue over anything else. If you just really like the TD version, get the non-QD version of their stubby. At least I for one hate their QD version of it.
But recently, for a non-QD stubby vert grip, I'm REALLY liking the Magpul RVG honestly. At least when using it with XTMs, it just feels great and integrates very well with those panels when using the Magpul Dynamics' style grip with your support hand.
Just my 2-cents worth, YMMV.:)
Whats wrong with the QD Stubby?
Dont forget the Bobro grip, I'm out of the vfg game, but I liked the Bobro the best when I used them.

That's a great looking gun. I really like the almost gold look with the black, and a different handguard system than you see around here most of the time. Looks light and practical.
Are you sure you want a VFG? If you do, I like the LaRue FUG, but it's heavy. How about a handstop instead? It really comes down to what you use a VFG for, but you might want to consider your other options before investing.
Also, pic thread!

Whats wrong with the QD Stubby?
If you're talking about the Tango Down QD stubby, I don't like how their QD latch feels when gripping it. It seems bigger than the Larue. At least to me. I prefer their non-QD version b/c I think it feels better.
Although I'd like the Larue better if it wasn't QD b/c it would also feel a bit more comfy when gripping it and wrapping your fingers around that particular section where the latch is... but that kinda defeats the purpose of Larue though. For a QD vert grip (if you're needing QD) I just don't personally think the Larue can be beat.

Thanks for the input. I'm looking at the non QD TD Stubby and the Magpul RVG.

Thanks mate. The front is light, but with sustained firing, the CASV gets hot! I was looking at the Magpul AFG, but I tried it on my friend's AR and it's too bulk for my likes, while handstops look like they wouldn't offer me enough, leaving me with the VFG option to keep my hand in contact with the CASV to a minimum (a la the "cool guy" vert grip hold).
I'll look more at the RD Stubby. In my short research, I haven't found enough bad press to turn me away.

If you have a scale handy, what does yours weigh (minus the sling and magazine)? Mine weighs in at 7 lbs., 8.5 ounces.
Without the sling and mag, but with optic, MOE grip and stock, and front side sling adapter, it weighs 6.5 - 6.7 pounds. The scale is accurate, but only shows in 1/2 pound increments. Hope this helps! I will look for a more precise scale at work....

this is Bradb55 pic i'm just reposting for your view. i also have a Casv-EL and yeah its true the front gets hot as hell. i'm really thinking about the AFG and it looks pretty good on the CASV

[QUOTE=macnamara;743355]

Thanks! Yeah that was Iraq Ninja's Mk 18 upper, not mine. But he didn't have a registered SBR lower at the time so we put it on one of mine so we could (legally) shoot it. Now I REALLY want one! As you saw/heard in the video, I really enjoyed shooting it.

Yes it will potentially block the illuminator, however it would be foolish to assume you share the same exact grip during the night as you do during the day. Just like night time press checks become a bit more work for the fingers, you do need to work your fingers a bit more gingerly.
I also don't ride the pressure pad at night, keeping my reaction hand a tad lower on the forearm. It also comes down to methodologies. If I'm bursting the IR unit on and off I'm most likely up close against a target, and that quick splash isn't my biggest concern. if I'm concerned about that splash I can just roll my thumb over and activate the PEQ from the top FIRE control on the unit.
RetreatHell
09-02-10, 21:07
Yup, you've got it right. It prevents using the momentary-on function of the illuminator when activating it with the pad in that location. I tried other locations but just kept coming back to this one every time. So I usually double tap the pad for constant-on and then shift my support hand thumb back down and out of the way of the illuminator's beam so it doesn't block it and splash back at me. If I DO wanna use it momentarily, I just pull my support hand back and activate the PEQ illuminator by pressing the "Fire" button on the actual PEQ-15 itself.
Basically it's a compromise, man. I tried to get it into a "perfect," no-compromise location on the rail and haven't succeeded. Basically I was asking the same questions to my boy Titleist and he told me the same thing.
Although one thing you CAN do, which is COMPLETELY dependent on your rail having enough room, is cut the two rubber rail grabbers off the dual pad and wedge it into the 10:30 o'clock position on your rail and secure it with zip ties or velcro. Stephen H did that with his dual pad with his SCAR and it allows him to now use the illuminator in momentary-on.

This also means you're unable to access these controls when working reaction side. NOT a good compromise if your intention is ambidexterity.

Very nice, man. Other than not having burst, that's identical alright! I like it!
I've been contemplating building an M16 clone as well. I think a lot of us Marines and Soldiers would like to have a rifle/carbine setup very similar or identical to what we used in the Corps or Army. That whole sentimental thing, with all the memories and stuff.
But the only thing ever holding me back from building one is that I have a feeling I'd never shoot it and it'd become a safe queen, which isn't allowed in my house:)
I'd really prefer if I had a buddy with an M16A2/A4 clone, then I could just shoot it occasionally without any investment:D

Very KISS, excellent job on both but I am partial to the bottom BCM middie :) The org. colt stock is one of the best KISS features I think can go on a build, Its kinda like a UBR for me, looks good on anything.
I took the optics off for the photo. Weight the LW middy earlier with the CAR stock, 5.75lbs, now that's lightweight. It's an M4 set on easy. The old CAR stocks were pretty good pieces of hardware, so naturally colt stopped making them. Getting a micro for the middy in the next month or so.

You got massive talent at taking pics pal....your recent pics display a ton creative effort as well as the actual quality of the image being pic'd.
Its rare when you find a pic that features tangible items depicted yet the viewer interprets the picture as thought, concept or otherwise non tangible item. Keep em coming, I suck at taking them but as of the last several months I have tried to learn about the actual art form behind the images and find it really interesting and photography could have easily been one of my many hobbies if I did not suck so bad as already mentioned.:D

So now I'm down to only two 'serious' use ARs and this one is this 'gamer' one, but it would work just fine if pressed into 'real' work. Its kind of a mutt, RRA lower, LMT LPK (2 stage trigger, the only one I own), BCM upper & bolt carrier, FN surplus bolt, Magpul ACS, used Sabre barrel and FF tube. I got a pretty good deal on the PWS brake, and the optics are a Trijicon TR24g (LaRue mount) and 8moa Trijicon RMR on a Daniel Defense One O'clock offset mount. The grip is a Magpul MIAD and I'm using a Phase Five one piece extended bolt release.
This thing is a laser beam considering that its mostly a mishmash of used parts. Even with .mil M193 and the 1:7 twist I can hold 1.5 minute of anger pretty easily. With a true rest or sand bag(s) I'm sure I can get it down to MOA and perhaps better with custom loads. I'm pretty impressed, despite the medium barrel profile. The only modification I made is that the Sabre barrel (despite being marked 5.56) had a .223 chamber and I reamed it to 5.56 dimensions (it would not close on a 5.56 go gauge in Sully's Armorers class). Off the bench I can still hold a 2" group at 50yds with that RMR. I'll get some shots/video of me running this one soon.
Bowser: is that the range just north of phoenix? I believe that I've been there.

I do like the MOE and CTR. Stock is rock solid - picked it up from a member here for a good price. Grip is very nice, and I really like the forend - if I want to add a sling swivel or light, its fine, and it handles nicely - no need for covers, etc. You can put your hand all the way forward and not touch he front sight.
Never used a sling but want to consider that. When in a unit, I was shooting 120mm, and the last time I carried an AR for a purpose, you didn't think about a sling. But... that's another thread.
My new SR-15E3 w/Vortex Razor 1-4 EBR556. I put a Magpul Grip on her and MS2 sling. I hope to add a Battlecomp this week and receive my Harris BRM-S combo from LaRue.
The second is my Colt 6920. I have a Magpul Grip, Vltor E-Mod, Battlecomp, Troy BUIS and a EoTech 512. I would like to put a DD RIS on her in the future, but for now she's good enough.

Great rifle and great car.
Love hearing from another fan of M Power:cool:
The E36 Doublespoke-II pic'd is on a project M3 using DINAN gear and perhaps one day becoming a DINAN3. Currently I have an E46 and I cannot imagine what the E90 will be like when that day comes. What kinda M do you have pal?
Look forward to seeing that pic of yours for sure as it prob. will inspire a take 2 from me with the E46 Doublespoke-10:)

VERY nice setup, Texas12! I love the look of that 12" DD FDE rail on the 14.5" barreled upper. Looks awesome, man! I am planning on buying that setup from BCM -the 14.5" middy with 12" FDE version RIS II rail. Sometimes I wish I would've bought that one from the get-go, rather than my 14.5" middy with 9" FDE Lite Rail. But I really like having the FSB on there... most of the time, anyways. I just hate that I have to run my PEQ-15 all the way forward on uppers with a FSB to avoid splash from the IR aiming laser off the damn FSB.
Oh well, I'll just have both eventually and all will be well:D
Here's a reposted pic of mine, minus the PEQ:

yes, and the DD rail on a 14.5 is just perfect. I can space out the DBAL and surefire and push out the afg to the perfect length without clustering my surefire and dbal tape switch to close. The long rail is the way to go.

Thanks man. I actually had a DD mk18 for a while. I found that when running an M620V and DBAL with tape switch if the afg was moved to the optimal position(close to the end of a 9inch rail). Their was no way to activate the surefire click cap and the DBAL tape switch without relinquishing my grip from the AFG. Since switching to the M4a1 RIS II I've been very happy with the ergonomics. Im with you on the fixed front sight, but with IR lasers It just never quite works. Here is my light laser setup now.

Nice KISS carbine set up. Is that a Noveske QD endplate? I'll be installing that one on my 14.5" this weekend along with M4 BCM stock kit.

It is. I like it. I've jerked that thing around by the sling and it hasn't come apart so I guess that's a good sign.
