Nope. Not at all.
I used our shop mill to contour the mount side of the handstop, basically removing the part that allows it to lock on to a rail. Then I modified the VTAC's inner mount component and then drilled a hole through the handstop, put screw in. Done and done.

Got mine for $40, they had a pallet of them out the week before black friday. The Base Exchange here have them for $105. Manager @ Waly World said the shipment of 150(minus the few sold like mine) went in 15 min.
Its an Christmas present so I dont get to pluck the foam until Christmas.

Well, it's that time of year again. This is when the girls get the spa treatment. An actual cleaning and new batteries. The only thing that they asked for this year was that I leave them alone and not add any new chit. You got it ladies...

I had really wanted a dissipator, and I was very pleased with my PSA dissy upper. It is well made and very accurate by my standards. But, once I got it, and compared it to my lightweight 14.5" BCM, I knew that I would opt for the LWT as a HD go-to carbine. (That decision was only based on weight.)
So, I had to come up with a plan.
Everything I read stated that you don't lose much accuracy going from a 20" barrel to a 16". I liked the idea of having a scoped rifle for the range and I decided to convert my Dissipator to a special duty carbine. I removed the FSB, Delta ring and clips and installed a 12" Midwest Industries free float railed forearm. I had a Pentax 4-12X50 scope and I mounted it as well. It also has a 2-stage RRA trigger system. I'll get it to the range after Christmas.

Great pic, as always, but with that short a barrel, how long would the light last? I would imagine the FH blast would blow it away within a short time...
Nope, you can see the muzzle blast on my light in this pic...no issues. I ran it like that through a Vickers carbine class, so it's seen volume, that class was 500+ rounds in one day.

Thanks for the compliment. I am a big fan of your rifles as well.
They are the Centurion Arms C4 Diopter Sights. The Centurions are supposed to be standard height. However, before I aquired the Knights Mount for the H-1, I had a DD (the non-QD model, not sure part number) mount. With the DD mount the Centurion sights looked straight at the bottom of the H-1, not through it. So I got the Knights mount, which is adjustable with spacers. Now the sights are lower 1/3 cowitnessed.

My early Christmas present to myself. Snuck away from X-mas shopping with the GF to put 100 rounds of XM 193 through her today. Shoots like buttah! After shooting government and M4 profile barrels all my career, this lightweight barrel is SO fun to drive-- super quick handling. The Centurion upper mated to the DD lower is solid-- no play whatsoever.
VITALS:
-Centurion C4 upper/rail assembly midlength gas system with 14.5 lightweight cold hammer forged barrel (this upper was definitely worth the wait-- Thanks Monty!)
-Daniel Defense M4 lower w/stock trigger
-BCM BCG w/enhanced bolt
-BCM Gunfighter Mod 4 charging handle
-BCM H2 buffer
-Sprinco blue spring
-Raddlock BB
-Eotech 553 HWS
-Troy Battlesight rear folding
-Battlecomp 1.5
-Magpul MIAD/AFG2/XTM/PMAGs/Enhanced Trigger Guard/BAD Lever
-Ares Armor Huskey Amentum slider sling w/VLTOR QDs

6520 overhaul is almost done. FDE troy buis on the way, FDE RIS II FSP a few weeks out
http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/2429/img0391zs.jpg
Well, with shooting my own AR anyway. So Ive been a lurker here for some time, learned alot. I've purchased my first AR based on what I've read. I ran 240 rounds through it at the range last week, for a little break in and sighting in. Zero malfunctions. I plan to shoot this rifle quite a bit, and am VERY satisfied thus far.
So having learned what I have here, lets see how I did for a first rifle. Feel free to flame away.
Daniel Defense DDXVM. MOE hangaurds, MIAD grip, CTR stock. (all Foliage green) Troy flipup battlesight in the rear. I added a Mount-n-Slot limited rotation sling mount on the handgaurd, and have a Blueforce Tactical 2 point sling. Up top is a Lucid HD7 red dot. I will be ordering a BCM GF this week, then she will be "done".

Looks like your castle nut has backed up some, I'll have to use the paint mark idea.
LMT receiver extensions look like that when they are tight against the receiver.

When i look at it again I think he made he mark with red paint and then tightend the castle nut some more because the mark on the nut is to the right of the one on the end plate.

I decided I wished to own one... So now I do. Since I haven't seen a lot of pics of it other than Sig's marketing stuff, I took some.
http://sycraft.org/sig/everything.jpg
Here is what you get when you buy the 516 Patrol model. Comes with a metal mag, instruction book, basic sling, cleaning rod, hex drivers (for the rails) and bore and barrel brush. The basic case it is sitting on is also included. A cat is not included, but when one is provided it will sit on the case when you are trying to take pictures.
http://sycraft.org/sig/rifle1.jpg
http://sycraft.org/sig/rifle2.jpg
http://sycraft.org/sig/rifle3.jpg
http://sycraft.org/sig/rifle4.jpg
The rifle itself, as it ships. Comes with standard A2 flash hider, flip up iron sights, quad rails, some MOE furniture, and of course the piston system.
http://sycraft.org/sig/lower1.jpg
The lower close up. The MOE grip and stock are what is included. The extra button below the bolt release is a left handed mag release. Kinda hard to activate, but it is there if you want it and it doesn't interfere with the normal one. Has a standard H-buffer in it.
http://sycraft.org/sig/lower2.jpg
The lower from above. That little pin in the back is spring loaded to keep the upper and lower fitting tight. You have to press down a bit when reassembling them. Seems to work though.
http://sycraft.org/sig/bcg1.jpg
http://sycraft.org/sig/bcg2.jpg
http://sycraft.org/sig/bcg3.jpg
http://sycraft.org/sig/bcg4.jpg
The bolt carrier group. No gas key on it, of course, since it is a piston gun.
http://sycraft.org/sig/ramps1.jpg
http://sycraft.org/sig/ramps2.jpg
The feed ramps and chamber, because who doesn't like feed ramps? That rod at the top is the piston push rod.
http://sycraft.org/sig/gas.jpg
The gas system controls. Has 4 settings in total. The two that you can move it to freely are normal and adverse, which overgasses the system if there are problems. Pushing the pin down will let you rotate it to suppressed, which is the notch above it. A much further rotation will take it to an off setting, making the rifle single shot.
Yes it really is that dusty in the desert. Dust sticks to everything :P.
http://sycraft.org/sig/rod1.jpg
http://sycraft.org/sig/rod2.jpg
The gas control and pushrod taken out of the rifle, both assembled and disassembled.
http://sycraft.org/sig/rails1.jpg
http://sycraft.org/sig/rails2.jpg
The quad rails assembled and disassembled. They do free float off the front of the barrel. They are quite sturdy. All the edges seem to be rounded so they don't hurt your hands, even with no gloves.
The only part of the basic takedown that isn't toolless. Also they recommend using a torque wrench (and specify the torques) in the manual, but only hex drivers are supplied. Not a lot of reason to take them off most of the time though.
http://sycraft.org/sig/barrel.jpg
The barrel sans rails. It does have marking on the other side but I was unable to get them to photograph well with my cheap camera. They just note the barrel as being 5.56 NATO 1/7 twist, the date of manufacture, and another 4 digit number that I'm not sure what it is for.
http://sycraft.org/sig/sights.jpg
A look down the included BUIS. They are basic, but they work. Made of aluminum, and of course flip up. They do not lock in to place but are reasonably solid. Standard windage adjustment in the back, elevation adjustment on the front.
There you have it. Figured it can't hurt to have some pictures of the rifle out there that aren't marketing material. These are current for what you get as of the end of 2011. Mine shows a manufacture date of 11-nov-2011 on the case.

No, it's tighter that it was. That or the receiver plate moved, which would be worse.
Nope.
The angle the picture was taken at makes it appear that way.

Plano shorty case, Hogue grip. The Hogue is nice enough now the wife might even "take a shot at it" :jester:
Was going to to do cut outs for some mags, but realized that when traveling it is best not to have any magazines
empty or not included in the same case as the weapon. When I decide on the scope, I will do the cutout for it and
the carry handle mount.

Rarely will I point out errors in configuration based off of pictures, but your rear sight is way too far forward for effective/efficient use.
They should be placed rearward, pretty much always at the last notch on the upper receiver rail. Eye relief should be around 2" to 4". Some references alter that, but getting much further away than that severely limits view of target area through the rear aperture. Even shooting with the nose touching the charging handle (NTCH) the rear sight placed at the rearmost rail gap will provide sufficient eye-relief.
After spending a fortune figuring out what works best for me and spending countless hours perusing m4c this is what I've come up with.
I think the only think I am going to add/change is the buffer system to the A5 and I might cut off the flared portion of the Stark grip to minimize the "alien " look. I'm not worried about the grip plug as it just falls out while shooting in cold weather. I may experiment with the AFG as well and maybe switch slings to a VCAS.

Also don't expect that configuration to get many fans here.

What do you recommend I change with my configuration?
The upper is going on another rifle and I am putting a 14.5 Colt barrel with perm attached FCS 556 on this lower. I have been shooting steel challenge and IDPA and the local club is putting more rifle stages in our IDPA matches. I am still fairly new to AR's but not to firearms.

A lil update, TAPCO stock pad. Also have the case almost done. Have the cutouts for the 6920, strap, carry handle mount, multi-tool. Just now need to figure out which optics I will be going with.

That's a nice case
Thanks, its a Plano Gun Guard. Cheaper version of a Pelican. The lid is a lil more giving than a Pelican and has a manual pressure relief valve. BUT 2 of the latches have key locks on them and a lot easier to work with than pad locks when transporting in the vehicle. Still would use padlocks if shipping.

A little FDE project I just finished putting together. It started with a Noveske rail I bought off a buddy who needed the cash. I decided it needed some rifle to go with it.

By AR(15) I mean that my first AR was a DPMS LR308B. That's the 18" bull barrel model. I sold it to my boss's friend to fund my AR15 build.*
My new rifle (and only rifle... *sniffle*) is built with the following goodies:
Zombie Defense lower
LPK from G&R Tactical
FCG is a NiB spikes battle trigger
Magpul MOE furniture kit from DSG Arms (included the receiver ext.)
Daniel Defense 16" lightweight midlength upper*
Spikes NiB BCG
BCM Gunfighter CH
Troy folding rear sight
VTAC Sling with HK hook on rear and a QD swivel up front
QD socket from Impact Weapons Components
I Kick Hippies SLAP endplate (had to get this just 'cause of the name)
And a dozen Pmags (in foliage, as I had to match the furniture right?)*
I plan on getting an optic, but I'm not 100% on what I want yet but I'm leaning toward a meprolight M21. The purpose of this rifle is HD, SHTF, TEOTWAWKI, and any other acronyms I can't think of at the moment... Along with the occasional plinking trip in the mountains and general shits and grins with my buddies.*
So far I have run 480 rounds of BVAC 62gr softpoint, and 160 rounds of M855 through it without a hiccup. DAMN I wish I afford more ammo...

I'm kind of embarrassed to even post this. I bought the Bushmaster lower in 2004 at the expiration of the 2004 sunset "ban". I bought the Bushmaster 11.5" upper with fixed Car15 5.5" flash suppressor about a month or two later. I didn't really know anything about AR's back then. Knowing what I know now, I would not have taken the gamble with Bushmaster.
It is in my opinion, a polished turd. It still lacks optics but planned is an Eotech 511 or 551 because I like the look of them and don't want to blow the cash on a 553. The light is an M3X. I wish I could mount the AFG further forward but due to the break in the KAC rails and the rail extension, this is the most forward I can get it without it overhanging.

Looks like a URX II. For comparison here's an up close shot of a URX III:

Man that is one nice mp. Would you mind posting the part numbers for the scope mount and flip up rear sight? I would like to order that same setup for my mp15 sport. Looks like the best setup i have seen yet. One question i have is, if you did not have the flip up rear sight would the original rear sight have interfered with looking through the scope?

The flip up rear sight is the Magpul Gen II sight couldn't find a part number on the Magpul site. The scope mount is for the Primary Arms M3 red dot sight, no part number on their site. There are other sight base makers with the cantilevered mount also. It's a 30mm mount.
My Sport came with the fixed rear sight and it would work just fine with the scope but wouldn't allow enough room for a magnifier for the scope. So I went with the Magpul rear sight. I don't have a magnifier so don't know if there will be enough room with it on the flat top or not. I found that looking thru the scope with the iron sights in the way really bothered me. With my eye sight, I use the scope most of the time and didn't like seeing the iron sights.

Not the OP, but it's an AXTS AX556 (http://axtsweapons.com/) fully, truly, ambidextrous lower. You can release or lock the bolt from either side, drop the magazine from either side, and engage/disengage safety from either side.
Come to Defoor in two weeks and you can shoot one too. :p

That's really nice. I really like the features but I also think the execution of it is outstanding. I'm not one to get caught up with lowers, however that is an extremely well thought out and executed product. What's the weight variance? How long did it take you to get squared away with the manual of arms? Do you feel that it is worth the few hundred over the Colts?
As far as Fla... After checking out pics of that place I have no doubt I will be doing some training with you in short order.
Oh, and what's that thing in your trigger guard. Looks like one of them fancy a Guy-lee triggers :haha:

I just got the upper back today, havnt got a chance to go and shoot it yet. The mount mounts very solidly and I love how easy it is to get it pretty much completely lined up with the tip of the FH, no shadow whatsoever. I think this mount will benefit those that dont run a long hand guard. I actually have to move it back 2 notches on the rail. So far, I like how it feels. The clicky tail cap is right where my thumb is, just have to point forward a slight bit to activate the light.
One thing to mention tho about the mount, it stays very close to the rail. You won't be able to mount it infront of anything, for example your BUIS if on top, sling mount/rail covers if at sides. Even my sling swivel thing is affected slightly.

It is a KAC URX III handstop. Designed for that rail.
Just got this back from Marvin.

Looks nice! Is the front sight in your view when looking thru the Burris?
Thanks.
Yes, but only up to about 2.5x. Then you cannot see it.

Nothing special right now.

WRONG! It's some special right now. I'm a K.I.S.S. guy myself. You have a very capable weapon as sitting. No batteries required. I may not be able to knock the nuts off a gnat at 100yrds, but

I gota admit, I'm not a fan of the repetitiveness of a lot of your pictures.
But I will say I'm diggin your newest ones.
I like where your going with this.
Is that actually rain or a hose?

I get into taking pics, I have alot of fun with it and I have a hard time choosing ONE from a shoot.
So I post a couple for everyone to see.
Lately with the double posting, is my bad. I forget which ones I post.
I apologize for that.
These were takin saturday night, it was cold and started to rain/snow.
It was light enough to see but not heavy enough to be super fast.
I just like dthe texture on the ground and lighting.
Thank you for the kind words

BCMjunkie, you have a style all your own. Your pictures are unique and if it's vibrant colors or b&w, you make it look sweet. I only have 4 AR's and there's only so many ways to pose them or a limited number of backgrounds to choose from, So I understand the 'repetitiveness' others are complaining about as I find myself doing it all the time. I enjoy your pics. Keep it up man.

Thanks Wormy. I apreciate that.
I like seein your pics too.
I guess Im different, If you and Trident and Ghostman kept the SAME rifles and took the same pics I wouldnt care. I just like seeing them.
Remember Ghostmans pics? It was the same ONE rifle in the same position. I never got bored of seeing it.
Then a Douchebag said something to him and now he dont post anymore.
It sucks
