Awesome setup!
I'm curious, what Larue Acog mount do you have there? All the LT100 mounts I've seen have the levers on the left side...which conflicts a bit with the lever for their 45 offset T1 mount.
I'm planning on trying out this same setup...but figured I'd have to use the non-throw lever T1 offset mount, or move the T1 forward to make it work.

It is staked in one position on the top. But thanks for looking out. I had it built by G & R, so I assumed it was fine.

Then im sure your G2G.
I like staking in two spots if given the option even though its not needed.

If you ever have to run it hard and it starts to backs off, you'll have a very expensive non firing club. I know, I know, it ain't mine and I could care less what you do or don't don't do with it. FYI, It is the correct requirement to be staked in two places. Just sayin'.
Will be picking up a punch and take care of it tomorrow. :)
Thanks for looking out guys, sorry to derail the thread.

Thanks... been thinking somethn similar and just wondering how it hides and how it effects passengers.
You don't see it from the outside of the truck unless you look upwards specifically for it. My wife rode with me to get dinner tonight and it wasn't even close to either of our heads. My buddy has one in his full size GMC truck and you can hit your head getting in or out of the back seats. Mine is only an access cab so it's not very often someone will want to get in the back anyway. It looks like it would split the difference between front and back enough to allow for headroom for rear seat passengers but that was about the last thing on my list of important things when designing & building this. It's completely out of the way for front seat passengers, driver side or passenger side, and isn't even viewable from the rear view mirror. In all I'm quite happy and just need to wire the electronic switch for the release yet.

This was my personal AR, it's been through several classes and a bunch of matches. I estimate around 8K rounds through it (proper PM performed). I gave it to my little cousin last year to kill hogs with back home. He's been tearin' 'em up. Around 50 confirmed kills on the piggies so far! This gun lives on a 4-wheeler and stays outside 90% of the time.

One rifle, but with a pronounced case of schizophrenia.
Bought new circa 2007 with all factory-original components, plus the Aimpoint Comp ML2 red-dot optic on LaRue mount, and Surefire G2 light on a MI mount. (The Troy folding rear sight was factory supplied.)

Last year's Magpul/Trijicon phase, with all MOE furniture and the TR24 fiber-optic/tritium illuminated 1-4x variable scope with Bobro cantilevered mount. Still with the G2, but now on a VTAC mount. Mil-spec sling replaced by a BFG Vickers tactical in FDE.

.
.
.
Just completed, now going free-float with the Troy Alpha VTAC railed handguard. Optic is Aimpoint H-1 Micro on LaRue mount. HG rail hosts a Surefire X300 light in front of a Troy folding front sight, with a VTAC sling mount just ahead of the receiver.

So what'll be next for this puppy?
What's next is to explain why you started with what you did, how you came to decide to make changes and if the changes were real improvements or not, what you expected the rifle to do then and now, if the mission has changed and if the modifications helped to meet new mission requirements
Must be an M&P-15 thing. Mines seen entirely too many revisions.
As you learn more and more, your skills and needs/wants/curiosities change and you try all sorts of new things.
I bought the same rifle, maybe a year after you did. It has the 1:9 twist, I presume yours does as well. I added an MI rail, MP MOE grip and put the LMT sopmod on it (from my LMT MWS .308). I also added an Aimpoint Comp M2 in a Larue mount. My surefire light is in an IWC mount for the MOE handguard. VTAC sling with QD rounds out the rifle. I am not going any further, it works fine for me and never a problem, even with steel case.
What's next is to explain why.....
First, this rifle fills a duel role in (1) basic home defense in a heavily forested rural setting, and (2) recreational range practice and occasional 3-gun/IDPA-DMG competition.
Original purchase and set-up fitted my price point. Then all the Magpul MOE stuff came out, which I really liked the look and feel of.
The TR24 constituted my exploration/evaluation of the variable scope arena. Very versatile and high-quality piece, but ultimately the weight and bulk got to me (I would like to be able to carry this rifle slung for extended periods if ever needed -- hence, the current Micro optic).
The latest project is along similar lines, to try my hand at the installation and then use of the free-float tube. Installation required some research and getting the right tools, but otherwise went well and was fun. Likewise, the first couple of range visits have been great, facilitating a far-forward weak-hand grip that helps stabilize the muzzle (especially during shoot-on-the-move drills). The unit is very lightweight and dissipates the heat better, and accommodates a 12-o-clock light mount and fold-down front sight, both of which I have wanted for awhile.

I've seen you post pics of your rifle using the same pics for 3 or 4 different threads. If you're going to show off the same damn rifle over and over and over again, at least take some new pics.
really guy, you took time to post this? 2 of these are posted in the centurion arms thread and 2 are posted in a different thread about barrel length. none have been posted here, so get bent or post your own pictures instead of filling a picture thread with nonesense.
May want to double check your stuff before you start slammin' folks.(go back a page).
maybe i'm missing something but considering that 3 out of the 5 pictures i have posted on the previous page were taken yesterday, i highly doubt they were posted 1 or 3 pages back.
kind of ridiculous that this needs explaining, i had pictures of the same rifle taken outside in the grass that were deleted last week due to bandwidth issues. perhaps you are also confused. if i'm wrong i'm more than willing to apologize.

apparently so, i guess i didn't realize the m4c picture police are out on patrol. god forbid one of the pictures actually be posted in another thread...
decided to buy an ACT trigger. Only have about 200 dry fires, but it's much nicer than the factory Daniel Defense I had.

I've added a Daniel Defense detachable single point sling mount, a sling, an Elzetta front post mount and a Fenix light, an Aimpoint PRO and a Weaver 1x-3x scope with a Burris P.E.R.P. mount.

What's up!
New member here (long time lurker tryna absorb as much info as I can) anyways I recently picked up my first AR- it is a S&W 15OR .
Choose this because it was well priced and came with all the goodies I wanted (chrome lined bolt, gas key, chamber and barrel), everything looks solid , great finish with no play between receivers and gas key and buffer tube staked nicely.
Put 200rounds down the barrel of wolf, PCM and brown bear and it ate it all up! After that I realized what I wanted in the rifle and bought a few goodies and installed 'em.
Now less talky and more pictures!!

Specs:
Model : smith & Wesson M&P15 OR
Intended use: Range, home defense.
Barrel: 16"
Handguard: Midwest Industries FF 2-peice quadrail.
BUIS: Troy Mirco Battlesights
Troy CQB vertical grip
Carbine stock & A2 flash hider
Near future plans:
- 2 point sling (any recommendations?)
-holographic sight (I fell in love with a EOtech at the range, I fell even more gaga with an ACOG- but no way I can swing that right now)
-better trigger
-Iam happy with the stock and grip so no plans as of yet.

Substantially lighter.

It works great! Use it for 3 gun and hang with the best of em. It has a little more push back than an SJC Titan or Rollong Thunder, but it doesn't feel like getting slapped in the face every time I shoot. I use a regular BCG where a lot of 3 gun guys are switching to low mass systems. My rifle is a little heavier than most so I don't feel like I need a lmos as much.
But yeah, I really like the BC on my 16".

I purchased a Noveske N4 Basic recently. I traded in my SIGM400 towards it. I liked the SIG very much and it shot very well for me but I always wanted a Noveske.
I have the urge to add either an ACOG or a 1-4 type optic.
My question is would I benefit from adding a FF rail to this rifle or not. The searches I have done are pretty much 50/50. Some say yes, that adding a FF will improve the potential accuracy of the rifle while others say no.
I am leaning towards just putting a MOE it and just spending the $ I would have on a FF rail for more ammo and training.

Do you feel like you need more accuracy? That is the question to ask yourself.
I'd suggest just going with a MOE handguard.

you need a FF rail like you needed the Noveske over the SIG. sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants. the centurion c4 rails are almost as easy to install as the MOE, and don't weigh much more either.

I've been thinking about chopping the FSB and putting an 11" TRX-E on this rifle, I think I'm going to now. :)

I replaced it with the 13" version. It has no scratches, dents, or imperfections of any kind.

I replaced it with the 13" version. It has no scratches, dents, or imperfections of any kind. If your interested contact me at msharrod84@gmail.com. It includes the TRX barrel nut, barrel nut wrench, and all the rail sections.
Thanks but I don't like the VTAC version.

Very nice. I also have the 13" VTAC TRX. I recently purchased a handstop from IWC, called the weapon control mount. It mounts in one of the slots so no rail section is needed, if you want to cut the weight back a little more.
Thanks but I don't like the VTAC version.
I found that either one is getting hard to come across. I think they have been discontinued. It was a pain to come across the 13". If you change your mind let me know.

I bought an 11" Troy TRX-E no problem yesterday. It's the alpha version which is what I needed. They discontinued the first version because they upgraded the way it attaches to the upper. Proprietary barrel nut vs standard. But again, thanks for the offer.

Wasn't really sure where to post this, but I wanted to show what 8.00 and an hours worth of time can do. Before this case was absolutely a bitch to close, finally got tired of it. I contacted Pelican to see about cutouts and finally said eff' it and did it myself.

I usually end up taking both to the range, I may try to cut for magazines to store in the case also.

Positive displacement, Here's how mine came out, sure makes it nice when going to the range, everything is easy to get to. Not the best cut-out job but it does hold everything firmly.
Includes a Range finder, bipod, 2 spare mags, sling, tac light and AR multi-tool....with a little room left for additional magazines, etc.

That looks great, I would like to incorparate the bi-pod and 4 mags in the case too!
I'm hopefully planning on building two more so I'll have yet another case to practice on. I wan't to do the same for my Rem 700 VLS

Yes they are. I go through Jason. You get the light and an AWESOME mount.

The tape switch comes with it.
The SR07 I have on the shorty is a little pricey.
The tape switch it comes with has a piece of velcro, I mount mine in between rails, its super comfortable, reduces risk of an A.D, and it wont snag

I guess I should stop lurking and post up my Noveske. I put together the lower. It's an N4 lower with Giessele SSA trigger. Upper is the 14.5" Noveske light basic. Im sure you can see the rest of the stuff I have added. I built this to run hard and so far so good.
My only complaint is the Magpul handguard does not have the heat shield at the bottom and a lot of heat comes out of the bottom of that thing where my hand sits. It will get to the point of burning after 100 rounds or so. Any way to fix this?
