That's pretty cool. Never seen on of those!
It's those parts with some of my own ingenuity so it will take some creativity on your part if you want to do something as there's really no off-the-shelf solution.
What does the electric do for it? And if the battery dies will it still work manually?
Yes, it has a manual key lock on it was well. It's wired to my DEI alarm/remote start system so that I can pop it with the press of a button on the key fob or, just like my door locks & remote start, from my phone anywhere in the world with a data connection. I like whizz-bang stuffs. lol

Dude, if you sold this as a kit or something I would totally buy one! :D
Dude, if you sold this as a kit or something I would totally buy one! :D
My buddy had another buddy make his bracket using a welder & plasma cutter and it turned out awesome. In theory something like this could be done in various vehicle-specific offerings but the price would likely be cost prohibitive.
Not the best picture but you get the idea:

DUDE, you need to get a patent for it. Two years ago when I carried my personal LMT MK18MOD0 in my patrol car none of the police catalog carried a M4 Holder/ weapon lock to fit a M4 SBR MK18 /w Aimpoint M2 and SF Light and KAC vertical grip /w cage behind the front seat. So I had to keep the 10.5 SBR MK18 in trunk of Police Crown Vic Patrol Car.

I love this rifle. Fighting the urge to sell the Nightforce/Docter combo and somehow come up with another $500 to get the Leupold Mark 6 1-6 we just got in at work. That thing is amazing!

IMHO, from 0 to 400-500yds the 1-6x scopes like the MK6, Razor, Z6i and the Kahles 16i are the best overall choice **for me** in a 5.56 recce type weapon. After watching the battle scenes in the movie " Lone Survivor ," that magnification range is perfect **for me**. IMO, once the fighting gets within 100 yds the 2.5x magnification and its field of view become a liability.
Why build a Recce if your only requirements are 0-500yds??
On a fighting precision rifle one most likely will have a secondary 1x optic....so why limit yourself at only 6x?
The 1-4/6/8x optics might be a jack of all traits...however they certainly aren't a master of any of them.
IMHO, a true LP AR should have 9/10x on the top end.

Rock'n an A.R.M.S. SIR . . . haven't seen one in the wild in years.
To each his own, I have the nightforce 2.5-10 and a Mark4 2.5-8 and love them both and used both in the service myself. The field of view on the 1-6 is not that much better in my opinion. I generally acquire targets with both eyes open, close one and fire...this and 4 bucks will get you a cup of coffee at starbucks!!!

There are hundreds of pages here with absolutely perfect looking rifles that it seems some are afraid to shoot because they might get dirty, which is fine.
Just got tired of seeing that. They run just fine scratched and dirty.

Yep. Nothing too fancy & everything in it's place. If the need presents itself I can be rockin' and a rollin' in a few seconds.
Heres my HK still have some more to do on it. I haven't even put a round through it yet but I will in the next month or so. I am going to send it to IFG to have the barrel cut to 14.5 inches and have it reprofiled to the socom barrel. I'm also going to add a 10.5 geissele rail and add either a PWS or AAC flash hider on it.

So many outstanding examples. I humbly submit my first AR, I built the lower and bought a used upper: Anderson Manufacturing lower receiver; Daniel Defense LPK; Tapco milspec buffer, spring, tube, castle nut, locking plate; Magpul MOE+ grip and MOE stock. Colt Alcoa Forge flat top receiver, M4 feed ramps, Colt MP 5.56 NATO 1/7 barrel, standard carbine handguard, A2 carbine rear sight/carry handle (6/3 elevation ring marking) - 1999 or early 2000 vintage. Not sure of the BCG, he didn't remember which he installed, it works and is reliable so I see no reason to change it. BCM Gunfighter medium charging handle. California compliant bullet button, and politically correct 10-round Magpul PMAG.
Springfield 1911A1 started life as a Mil-Spec model (note the factory sights) but updated back in the day with Kings Gun Works parts: memory bump beaver tail, national match trigger, hammer, Kings/Clarks 4-finger sear spring, extended slide stop, extended manual safety, Cocobolo grips; Smith-Alexander magwell. I used to run a Kings 2-piece guide rod but switched back to the standard recoil spring assembly. Running Wolff 18lb recoil spring, firing pin spring; Ed Brown extractor, firing pin, grip screws. Just it refinished, cerakote armor black (slide, frame, bushing) and satin aluminum (extended slide release and safety; magwell).

All you did was gently place it OVER the water. Big deal.
There are hundreds of pages here with absolutely perfect looking rifles that it seems some are afraid to shoot because they might get dirty, which is fine.
Just got tired of seeing that. They run just fine scratched and dirty.

Family photo from a range day.
Are my eyes playing tricks on me or is your rear sight mounted forward of the last rail slot? If so, any reason for having your rear sight mounted forward like that?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Your eyes do not deceive you. It is in the #3 slot forward from the rear. I ran it further back #2, #1....but found that for my eyes, running it in it's current position is what worked best for me. I usually run with my stock collapsed most of the time and it gave me just that tad bit of eye relief when I was running with the MBUS only. It is 100% just a personal preference for me on this setup.

Spike's Enhanced midlength upper. 16" barrel. Spike's lower w/ RRA A2 stock, RRA 2 stage match trigger, PSA lpk & Magpul grip. Matech rear sight. Nothing fancy but I like it pretty good so far.

songmeesay
03-30-14, 09:32
Niether lol. Since I only shoot once every 2 or so months, I chose to go with the KAK Idustry Slim Line Flash Can which has the same specs as the KX5 but obviously not going to be as well built in materials, etc. I've been told that the Flash Can performs just as well though from a user that has it and a KX3, but maybe wouldn't last as long. But with how many times I shoot/year and the cost vs a KX3/5, logically the KAK was a better choice for me.
Side note: Awesome deal on that DD rail you sold me. Everything arrived in perfect condition.
Geissele SMR fanboy here as well. Sorry Stick, I had to make a clone after seeing your build:
Looks good, but I wouldn't buy anything from a company that blatantly rips off Noveske and then makes a muzzle device out of 6061 aluminum. That thing is fit for airsoft, or at least it would be if they weren't stealing from another company.
I'm not sure how they hadn't been sued or received a cease and desist yet, but I would love to see them come to a forum like M4C and explain how this is acceptable. Of course if there is an agreement in place, or something similar, they have my most humble apology. However, if they did I'm sure that would have been noted by nowETA- .
ETA - IMHO, buying that is like buying stolen property. You might get a good price, but it still isn't right.

I've only used it about 3 times but I love it. By far my favorite optic even though its heavy. I got such a good deal on it I couldn't pass it up and glad I didn't. My other problem is coming here and seeing all these builds and getting motivated. That Geissele/Stick SMR build I like so much its got me thinking about a 7.5" barrel with the 9.5" rail version to share the SBR lower. Talk me out of it? A quick mock up of how it would look:

Please check yourself and remember that you are a new member. Stickman does make a valid argument. Whether you agree or not isn't really the issue as I am pretty sure that Noveske does have a patent.
In addition this is a picture thread and not an "internet war thread".
Let me guess, you're an "OG" small fish in the proverbial internet small forum pond of mediocrity? Are you like the neighborhood watch dog calling people out you don't even know, because they aren't running the same gear as you, or don't post up high resolution pics, flashing everyone with your signature about how cool you are, or who you work for? This is the problem with these types of forums. You can spew all the incoherent jibberish you want without any recourse or credibility and everyone in here will oooh and ahhh because you flash a couple pics now and again. Dude, get over yourself, and stop force feeding your political agenda and ethics onto fellow members who don't give a flying **** what you think about the products they run! Troll? Active duty military with over 7 deployments, and 2400 flight hours......what do you do again? Take pictures? Carry on......

I just wanted to point out that the Noveske uses a cone in the KX3/5 whereas the KAK doesn't. Not sure if that's in relation to the pending patent or not. I don't mind opinions, etc as I'll respect them. I don't know if Primary Arms got heat for their aimpoint clones but they get a lot of positive feedback and have exceptional customer service, and to me its almost the same situation as this KAK/Noveske ordeal. Again, I respect everyone's opinion.

yeah that NSR looked alot like the Vltor on my PWS. Of course I'm looking
at it on my crappy cell phone. I shouldn't have assumed it was Stick I

Got a Vltor MUR-1A from the EE and to my surprise received the new laser etching. I prefer this simple logo vs the previous one.

Negative. I kind of liked the sword/V logo on the forward assist. The logo on top of the charging handle area is now a U.S. flag.

Redi-Mag guy. Good man. ;)
First time I saw a guy running offsets with a red dot a couple of years ago I thought it was a little silly. Until one day I was running my rifle on a range in the hot summer and the rain suddenly stopped. Couldn't see a thing through the fogged optic. Ended up pulling the sight off with the qd mount and finishing the drill but would've been nice to just roll the rifle.

Pretty damn close to what the tip of the spear are sporting....pricey, and rare but that's one little badass rifle in that config. Not a fan of any other HK416 configs. normally as I believe HK's piston design only yields measurable improvements on SBR setups.

Very interesting. I just heard about this a few days ago. The bolt carrier is the closest thing I have seen to an AK other than an AK.
Although I am not too big on piston ARs in general, this looks like it could be pretty darn good.

Hey Stickman, I want to know also about the Blade.
It would be great if folks would routinely add a description of the items in their photo posts. I see many and would like to know what it was. It might cut down on the subsequent posts requesting the same info. Just a thought.

I had to trim a little bit of the light body near the part where you screw in the lights head into so it would fit flush with the DD sight. It works perfect for me and put the light in the best position without having to move my hand, only my thumb.

Dsully, Please give me info about the Knife.
That's a Chris Reeves Neil Roberts warrior knife, no longer made and they demand quite a premium. CRK makes some beautiful knives, quality is top notch, even though they don't harden their steels enough to take advantage of their properties. I use a CRK Green Beret 5.5 in the field myself.
http://i57.tinypic.com/qnnw3r.jpg
Dsully, Please give me info about the Knife.
The knife was issued to my uncle after he completed BUD/S.
The Green Beret Knife:
"Efficient, Tough, Exceptional."
Words that describe the men of the U.S. Army Special Forces and the knife designed specifically for them.
This knife is known to the U.S. Army Special Forces as "The Yarborough" and to everyone else as "The Green Beret Knife". It is a no-nonsense, hardworking tool, designed by renowned knife maker and designer Bill Harsey, with function and manufacturing input from Chris Reeve. Made in Boise, Idaho by Chris Reeve Knives, the Green Beret Knife is a using knife that, just like the men for whom it was designed, is efficient, tough and uncompromising.
Without the name "Yarborough" and non-serialized, the otherwise identical knife - The Green Beret Knife - is available from Chris Reeve Knives. The Green Beret Knife is offered with either a 7” or 5.5” blade; the handle is the same size. The handle is made of extremely durable black canvas Micarta. When the handle is wet, the canvas fibers swell which increases grip. If the handle becomes dirty, it can be cleaned with a brush and a household cleaner like Soft Scrub.
Since August 23, 2002, a serialized version of the "Yarborough" knife has been presented to each graduate of the Special Forces Qualification Course. Current and retired soldiers may purchase the knife.

New Sionics AR with the basic stuff (Vltor A5 & Emod, Magpul, Sampson, 1:8 chrome bore). This one is a nice shooter, just a 2-7 Burris for now. Well made, accurate & very solid platform. Patrol Rifle 3. Good guys to do business with if you're looking for a good value in an M4 variant.

I had to trim a little bit of the light body near the part where you screw in the lights head into so it would fit flush with the DD sight. It works perfect for me and put the light in the best position without having to move my hand, only my thumb.

That's odd. I'm running a similar setup but didn't need to modify anything. Looks good though.

I run close to the same setup except x300u and a FSB. Had to do some slight shaving on the FSB to make it fit.

How far does your light stick out the front? When I had it flush with the DD sight I didn't need to shave anything. I only had to shave it down when I moved it forward and the light sticks out further than the sight.

Need a 30 cal can........
Did you source the barrel/bolt through SBR?
Yes.
How is that thing with the short barrel?
I have contemplated doing a big bore AR, but other stuff always gets bumped to the front.
Very light, especially in this barrel profile. Your shoulder will know you're not shooting a 22 caliber bullet.

Oh I see.......thought your meant you had to modify it to fit flush with the sight. How much material did you have to remove?

Not that much, just enough for it to fit snug next to the light and be able to tighten it down good.

Freshly painted KMR along with a CMR. Like others have stated, the lack of weight with the KMR is amazing. Concerning the pictures below I found the design of the KMR along with the lack of rail covers provided an illusion of invisibility at distance.

Definitely recommend the rail. I heard a rumor this last batch is the last for the Hks. Who knows for sure though.
Well I ended up buying the rail. It should be here in a few days.. I know I will love it. Thanks for helping make up my mind..

Great, now I get to think about this the rest of the day.... Rail looks great. What's the weight difference?
CharlieDeltaJuliet
04-10-14, 13:32
The stock rail is 12.5oz (1.4oz per inch) the Geissele is 1.1lbs (1.2oz per inch). It isn't noticably heavier, but it shifts the weight more forward. It really helps make the rifle not so nose heavy with the longer grip access.

Because someone on ARFCOM told you the weapon would fall apart and you would go straight to hell if you did?

I guess the demand for cantilever mounts is based completely on false information?

Why? If your mount suits you, keep running it that way. Enjoy the shit out of it. If weird flyers, uneven pressure/flex on the tube don't bother you, and you are certain your rails align perfectly, then rock on. The companies that make them don't recommend doing it.
