My 4 year old Sony LCD TV is showing signs of its age, and Ive spied a 120HZ Sony LED LCD for $1300 in 46" I want.

We've been using a generic stand with our current TV but want something better for this one. Are "Init" units any good or typical overpriced crap for the money?

Any other suggestions between 250-500 dollars would be appreciated. Want something that is a medium between modern and country.

That looks like a lot of glass to keep clean. We went with a wood cabinet for our 60" TV. We got a good deal at furniture factory warehouse here in San Antonio. They are going out of business and were willing to make a deal. I don't like glass furniture. I don't want to clean it constantly and I don't want to have to make a claim when it breaks during a permanent change of station move. Have you looked in a high end electronics store to get an idea of what is out there.

wall mounts only, but it is a start.

It's not a furniture stand per se, but I bought a black wire shelving unit, or baker's rack, from Lowe's.

It's very sturdy, allows for plenty of air circulation, and you can easily use cable ties to route wires. Dusting is a breeze. The item number is 71473.

Of course, if She Who Must Be Obeyed does not like it, you can also point out the low price.

(Which would allow more money for your ammo budget. Just saying.)

If you really want a new TV wait about another month, rumor has it that major prices slashes are coming due in part to a surplus of LCD screens. This holiday season we should see some amazing prices on tradionally expensive TV's.

We shall see. . .
