Just brought home a new Beretta Model 92FS. This one has a kind of "fluted" recoil spring guide. All of the others I have seen appear to be solid/round. Will this affect the strength of the guide? I have no idea how much force this part endures.

I think it is actually black plastic.

I have owned both an "older" 92FS with the round steel guide rod, and a brand new Brigadier with the fluted PLASTIC.

I have shot thousands upon thousands of rounds through both of them. (i was able to score MANY cases of 9mm for $50 per 1K)

I never encountered any problems with the Brig and its plastic guide rod.

With that being said, I don't like the beretta any more. I want something I can carry cocked and locked, or something that has the same trigger pull every time, and NO long 15+ pound first pull off the draw.
