How exactly do you round off the Striker Block on a Glock?

I've heard of this being done on Glocks for trigger jobs, but have the following questions:

How do you do it?

Why would you?

Does it effect reliability?

Does it work?

I gently chuck the firing pin block up in a portable drill, spin it up and lightly touch it with 600 grit emory paper, working the paper over it, using my finger tip as the backer for the paper. The point being to lightly polish and perhaps slightly break the sharp corners. Less is more..... Clean and re-install.
