Can anyone advise me as to who offers a good quality "at home" refinish kit for their weapons?

Just about anyone with a battery charger can do their own anodizing. I don't know about a kit, but there's several sites that have guides on diy anodizing. Check out brownell's, I know they sell hot and cold bluing and parkerizing stuff

I'm a fan of Krylon myself - but it's probably not what you're looking for...

I've done my SBR's lower, my dept's M16A1 lower, a Smith 5944, and the frame of a Sig 226R DAK with Brownell's Matte Black Gun-Kote and feel the results are outstanding considering it's $20 a can. Fairly simple to do, disassemble, degrease, degrease, degrease, dry, spray, bake for 1 hour at 300 degrees.

For spray on finishes where you don't have access to an airbrush setup I would recommend Brownells Gun Kote in aerosol spray can form. I have had great luck with it and it is bake on. As has already been said, a great refinish is all about prep work. Degrease, then degrease again and when you think you have degreased enough, do it one more time!

This is the direction I am going to be taking with a few of my guns soon.

I've had very good results with brownells alumahyde II. I've done two AKs and a CZ-82. The finish has held up great. I decreased the parts, preheated in the oven and let them sit for two weeks after spraying. Finish is tough.

hmm, good thing i caught this thread. I just bought a can of krylon flat black to fix a chip i put in my BRAND NEW LMT lower. I was working on my AK and accidentally let it slip out of my hand and the front sight took a small chip out of my ar15 lower.

This kind of accurately displays what happened in the seconds after the incident:

Well, thanks for the heads up on the Brownells gun kote (even if i wasn't the originator of this thread....since i kinda was looking for the same answer).
