I was only able to attend the first day due to work conflicts, but I am glad I was able to get in what I could.

Kevin and Chappy made the trip out North Central Washington again and brought along JR to help instruct.

The first day started in the classroom at about 9 AM with orientation, introductions, safety brief and a brief discussion on rifle theory.

In addition to zeroing and confirming zero at different distances, we shot a variety of drills throughout the day including multiple iterations of the half and half drill and a 100 yard aggregate. Different malfunction drills were extensively covered as were a wide variety of alternate firing positions. After night fall a few hours were devoted to low light engagement.

Even though, I was not able to attend the majority of the course, I was able to break bread with the instructor cadre each night as well as the Lakewood PD guys. Good talks around the table with a great group of guys. One surprising thing of note was Chappy's obsession with Crocs and man-purses. Who would have thought he would be that kind of guy?

There were defiantly some ammo/gear/weapon/optic issues identified. Personally, for the one day I was there, I only had one issue. One round of Federal XM-193 had a primer blowout. Unfortunately, this is our department practice ammo and the guy that ran a bunch more of it then I did had this happen a lot. I continue to be happy and worry free with my BCM upper and PMC Bronze or Hot Shot ammo. I ran a BFG belt kit with suspenders for the first time and am very happy with the setup.

It was a small class with two officers from Lakewood PD, two (including the acting Chief) of Twisp PD, One Lake Forrest Park PD, one from the Okanogan SO and one token Army guy.

From what I have heard and can tell, everyone enjoyed the experience and got their dollars worth. I will let them tell their own story though.

I was able to get some pictures during the last hour or two on the last day. These pictures are by no means representative of all the training that went on during the three day class.
