Nice. Funny, my gun loves XM193. No pics, but I get solid 1" or less groups, with an occasional flyer. I just like the 75 grain for longer steel in 3-gun matches.

Right on. I'm hoping to grab some nice Hornady and Black Hills to see how my rifle likes it.
Wow. Haven't seen the ECC yet.
That is an ideal setup you have there.
Excellent optic, sweet BUIS setup.
I am quite envious.

I thought 193 is 3-4 moa?

I thought 193 is 3-4 moa?
Mostly depends on your gun. For most guns yes. That's why I posted my groupings with PMC ammo. Everyone knows that PMC ammo is not precision ammo and for a gun to get that type of grouping with crap ammo like that is uncommon. You will mostly see PMC get 1.5-2.5 MOA. Some barrels will like some types of ammo and other barrels wont. You just got to buy a ton of ammo and figure out what your gun likes best.

I thought the same when I bought it, but it's not. It is designed to receive and index one of the KAC silencers, though. The gas system on this 16" gun is rifle length, too.

Looks very clean! I've always been a fan of those muzzle brakes. Are they pretty loud? I've almost bought one several times, but I hesitate because I'm nervous it's going to be as loud as my triple port brake.

That is for sure one bad ass rifle pal, and it has an equally bad ass optic on it......I'd love to hear your feedback using that setup w/ the glass at extended ranges (800-1000yds).
Leupy finally appears to be back with that piece of glass and potentially a few others coming out in the near future.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get out a whole lot. I've been working a lot, which I'm grateful for but I've been burnt out on the weekends as a result. I have had a few chances to get out and play with the MWS but this weekend was the first time I was able to shoot the 16"SS barrel with the Loopy. I didn't have the time to do much more than sight in the mk6 and shoot two 10 shot 100yd groups with 175gr FGG. First group was decent and the second would have been under an inch BUT I tossed the ninth round half an inch right.
So ultimately, I think this rig has some potential. In a few weeks, I'll get to my 600 yard range. I'll have to get back with you on the 800-1000 yard report.
I'm glad to see that Leupold is finally getting the mk6 1-6 out in a few reticles. I am looking forward to what they will announce at SHOT, not expecting to see any of it for awhile but the vaporware is fun to look at.

Vacationed in Fort Pierce and visited the UDT/Seal museum.
Among the historical items they had a display of some of the Team's small arms:

Also, they happened to have the actual Maersk Alabama lifeboat on display. I was pretty moved by this piece of history and being so close to it. I thought it fitting to see the reflection of the flag on the plexiglass:
http://i112.photobucket.com/albums/n162/pescadordomosca/94C0DB53-21CB-471B-89FE-1929764C41F8-7777-00000B0FA22A4684.jpg

I have a Recce upper on the way to complete my semi-auto precision build. I'll add pics when I get it together. I thought this a nice detour with some relevance as an example of the precision rifle and its application.
As a side note, this museum is a must see if you're ever close. It is kind of out of the way and a nice easy drive to get to. The small building belies the amount of history contained within, it truly felt special.

Thank you. Yes I am a proud owner of a MWS. I love this thing. It's been awhile since I've been so enamored with a rifle. So glad I bought it.
The mk6 is pretty damn nice. Glass is clear, I like the turrets, it's short and light. Great package. I ran some repeatability groups and it tracked perfectly. That Bobro mount is also dead nuts repeatable. I have a Horus H-58 reticle in mine. Here it is at 18x magnification...

This is my Centurion Recce upper sitting on a Noveske lower. It has a Geissele SD-C and a Vortex PST 1-4 MOA in a Larue SPR mount, Vortex flash hider, Noveske QD plate, BCM charging handle, full auto BCG, and Magpul furniture.
I love this rifle!!! It took me almost two years to piece it together, it is my first really quality AR rifle and I have been spending a good deal of time learning the rifle and it's capabilities. There is local precision match coming up in April and I have been working hard to learn the rifle and establish a data book for it as suggested by a member on the forum.
The Vortex is nice...I got it cheap with some gift cards though sometimes wonder if I should gone with something along the lines of 2-8 or 2-10 power. But my intention was to have an "all around" rifle so I went the 1-4 route..still up for debate though.
A Larue QD and Harris bipod are next as well as some different BUIS set up, maybe some Knights or something a bit sleeker.
Thanks for all the great info on the forum as it really helped me figure out how to outfit the rifle and made decisions easier to make.
I'll try to get some groups shot and photos of what she can do in the hands of a wannabe when the weather breaks.

Mega Maten Monolithic Upper/Ambi lower
GA Precision Bartlein 5R 308 11.25 19.5" 5/8-24
Badger Thruster brake
Armalite BCG
Geissele SDE trigger
KNS Anti-Rotation Pins
Magpul PRS stock
Command Arms Pistol Grip
JP Rifles Silent Captured Spring
JP Rifles Lower Parts Kit
Paladin Machine 3-way Adjustable Gas Block
Atlas Bipod & Monopod
Spuhr Scope Mount
Schmidt & Bender 5-25 CM CCW DT XR
It shoots flawless! The trigger took some time to get used to, but I like it a lot now. The JP silent captured spring is a must have! It feels like your shooting a bolt. I wouldn't change anything out of this one.
I also getting another one of these built, except with a singular monolithic upper, and Mark @ Short Action Customs is building it in 6.5 CM.
The JP silent captured spring is a must have! It feels like your shooting a bolt. I wouldn't change anything out of this one.
Thanks.
Interested in the JP system. How long does it last and can the spring be replaced?
Did you previously have a buffer/spring combo or did you start with this? I'm hesitant to try one given the price and little info I could find on them.
I am not sure if the spring is replaceable, but I have around 850 rounds through it, still works the same. I did have the regular spring, buffer and it worked just fine, I just decided to try out the JP one.
I post a lot on Snipershide and I tried to find a post I started regarding the JP spring, but I can't find it. Ever since they upgraded and switch software/boards, a lot of stuff was lost.
The captured spring wont give you better accuracy or looks, but it does make it more silent. My shooting buddy could care less of the noise, but it makes a difference to me. I guess it all depends on the shooter.

details on the build?
Littlehendrick....good job on that group, and your rifle/steel setup looks great as well.
One suggestion for you...Details, details, details!
How will you determine your progress or gains in accuracy if you don't have precision calculated groups.
If your gonna be a real man and shoot 10rd groups, might as well be a real man and measure them up properly ;)

I was always wondering where everyone was getting those measurements...thought it was only you high end folk!
And yes, it is in the details, so here are the details on the build:
Noveske gen1 chainsaw lower
Geisselle SD-E (I blame you Trident)
Palmetto State Armory lower build kit caught on sale
Used LMT upper
BCM 18" stainless (wanted 16", but could not find one in stock for 5 months)
Larue gas block
Larue 12.0 rail
Larue scope mount (no cant, lowest possible)
Falcon Menace fixed 10x, mil/mil
Used charging handle
Butler creek covers, because it is dusty here in CO.
And....for expensive part....Surefire 556-212 on a muzzle brake
Told the lady...I buy you a ring...I get a can. Then my shop cut me a deal I couldn't refuse.
It took me close to a year and a half for the parts, not including the ATF stuff.
Trying to save up for a NF 2.5-10. I will be interested to see what I will want to change once I move to FT Benning.

I do not doubt it. I get to geek out on the science/physics. Somehow i already have a few 308 pmags, and i do not even own a 308 gun....yet. It is a bit frustrating at first, but hearing steel ring at "only" 530m is a nice reward. Now to figure out this whole wind reading thing.

Trident happened to enlighten me. My notes from just starting to use it, seems easier if the picture is taken perpendicular to the target, and have a good size reference in the picture too, so you can create a scale for the program.

Shooting steel at 400ish with my recce. Pretty modest compared to some of the spr types out there, but it does exactly what I want it to do, engage targets with confidence out to 500yds while not being completely useless inside 50. Not bad for a lightweight 16in barrel and 4x optic.

I've yet to fine a more impressive AR specimen to date than a MWS/EMC w/ 16" barrel and powered glass. Hard to top these rifles when they are hammering torso steel with hi consistency out to 1000yds +....granted it takes a highly skilled driver to do so.

KAC EMC, 2 LMT MWS and a Robar sr60 and topped off with that glass. Its an absolutely superb inventory! One of the best I've seen.
Just finished this rifle at the Semper Paratus Armorer's course. DD upper and lower with a LMT receiver extension and stock. 16" BCM stainless and a Vortex 1-4 PST.
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii126/sapper5353/DSC_0004_zps424a6e5e.jpg
Nice build...
I've had that Vortex for around 6 months now in MOA and the same mount and have been very happy with it, hope your results are the same. It's tracked true and stayed pretty robust as it bounces around in my truck and on my tractor for groundhogs etc. I run it on a 16" Centurion Recce that has the same vibe as your set up.
You would be surprised what a quality 16" barrel will do with a 4 power scope, all things considered(shooter, ammo, trigger...)so don't let anyone tell you otherwise...
Good luck with your rifle. Definitely a quality build!

MRP 18" stainless SPR barrel, ACS stock, Geissele SSA-E trigger, MK4 scope.
Good luck with your rifle. Definitely a quality build!
Thanks, I am hopefully going to recieve some Gieselle love for fathers day and make it perfect. Now to source some SMK's and actually go shoot it. The point of this was to hit a man size target at 800 yards. I think it can do it if I do my part.

Sighted in my MK12 last week with a very limited amount of Hornday .55gr V-Max rounds. I had it painted by my neighbor so I had to re-zero when i put the scope back on. (Pics of the paint job coming soon) Only one click to right and it was back on target. After I had settled down some (this is new shooting for me), I found out I had built a sub-moa gun over the winter.

The four singles were me and the re-zero. Settled down, put three under the size of a dime.
Target: 25/300 meter Army sighter.
Range: 100 yards.

I like your paint scheme.

I like your paint scheme.
Thanks. Gotta thank my neighbor as he wanted to paint something, so I lent him my rifle and my box of camo paint and that was the end result. Said I wanted something that was good for spring and fall, which is when I generally hunt.
Walked past this thing twice during a early evening hunt.
Not exactly shooting for precision ;):

New Grendel precision build. I hope this will shoot out to 1,000; I have a bolt-action .308 that can do it, but this should be a comparative pleasure to shoot!

Barrel is the baseline Alexander Arms medium-heavy, with a Rainier Arms extended gas block pinned on. Muzzle brake is custom by Ross Schuler. Handguard is the Daniel Defense MFR 12.0, cerakoted by Gulf Coast Shooting. Buttstock is a CavArms C1 with a couple Mount 'N Slot sling swivel sockets I installed. It's pretty light for a 24" rifle, coming in at 8 lbs 10 oz without the scope.

Built this rifle off a Core -15 lower with a Daniel Defense S2W 18 inch 1/7 Barrel and a DD BCG. Upper is from Spikes and the UPK and LPK is from Stag. Scope is a Simmons Aetec 3.8x12x44mm with sun shade. I mostly use it for hog and deer hunting. Burris Fastfire III is for close in stuff off the swamp buggy.

how do you handle that with a scope? :-) the 45 degree red dots are not much of an answer, since they don't let you fire from the weak side shoulder, around the "other' side of cover. My scope "rides" in "see thru" mounts, and the iron sights are luminous.

I just got the NF in trade and got it zeroed using basic load parameters but I need to chrono the load with the rifle to make optimal use the LV reticle and zero range match up correctly. LV probably wouldn't be my reticle of choice if buying new, however it seems like it'll work well and shots out to 600 are hard enough to come by down here in FL as it is.
You can always dope your elevation after the 600yd hash...I really like the LV reticle.
A pair of 2.5-10x compacts...one w/ the LV, the other w/ the compact mil dot.

I figure it would be possible to dial in elevations beyond 600, it's just hard to find places to shoot that far around these parts. Hence the reason a 14.5" chrome lined barrel AR is "precision" enough for me around here.
The scope itself seems really nice, and while it is longer than the x24 model, it doesn't feel bulky or long on the rifle. It's my first foray into the NF world thus far and I'm happy with it.
Might as well drop this in here, it's appropriate. Important bits: Noveske 18" SPR barrel, MUR-1A upper, gen 2 lower, geissele G2S, A5 extension, NF 2.5-10x32.

Fantastic build Slippers, glad to see it come together so nicely.
One of the best LR groups (10rds) ive ever shot was w/ a DD pencil 14.5" rifle. A geissele trigger, and a NXS compact go a long ass ways....be it on a 10.5" HD rifle, a 14.5" LW setup, or what it's perfectly tailored for org., the Special Purpose Receiver program rifles..the Recce, and SPR rifles.

That's not precision....all three needed to be in the black part. Three shot's don't count either. Your groups need to be at least a thousand in order to call it accurate. ;)

Yep, got the upper from rogtac. STR is working out great, I've been using STRs with that scope for about a year or so on other uppers.

Why do a five or ten shot group? The idea was to zero the rifle and then take it out to distance once that was achieved.
The barrel was a small run done by Mr. Geissele, I don't believe they are commercially available.

I hear ya brother...we're in the last of the Molon/DocGKR days. 10rd velocity strings/accuracy-precision groups, with multiple groups/strings is the only scientific based evaluation method to truly see what a rifle's velocity, or precision/accuracy capacity is....as it's the only method that uses enough raw data to draw concrete observations through the laws of statistics.
Here is one of the Geissele 18" SS .223 wylde rifle length 1/7 SPR barrels....and Geissele's proprietary LW tapered contour 14.7" SS .223wylde mid 1/7 barrel. Basically it started it's life off as the top barrel.

Yes, it was Southwest Ammo 77gr SMK (http://www.southwestammunition.com/product_p/55677smk-match-.htm). The photo was taken during Magpul Dynamics SPR/DMR course held at Sniper Country in Utah a couple of weeks ago. I shot a 10-shot group using the MagnetoSpeed chronograph and got the following:
MAX 2776fps
MIN 2712
AVG 2739
S-D 20
Temperature was in the high 40's to low 50's, with the density altitude at 5472. The rifle is considerable more accurate and precise than I can make use of, especially when I am running a Nightforce 2.5-10x24 with 1MOA elevation & .5MOA windage adjustments. I do have a Nightforce 3.5-15x50 F1 I can swap out to if I want to shoot small groups but that was not the idea during that course.

Sweet!!! I need to give that SW ammo a try some day.
Trident, LW is Lothar Walther correct?
It ran great in my rifle. I was able to make hits out to 912 meters on the KD course. I ended up dialing 32 MOAs on elevation and held 2.5 mils left for wind but got hits on the second and third try of three attempts. Time of flight was long enough for me to spot my own rounds, almost two seconds long.
I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I had a altitude of 5472ft.....it's cheating if you ask this redneck from AL @ 550ft :)
Dirtyboy....when I typed LW above in reference to the second barrel, I meant to imply Lightweight as it is Geissele's own unique lightweight barrel contour design that has the tapered, pencil type contour.
I'm not sure who spun the blanks org. for GA.

When I shoot my MWS @1k I could always spot my own shots as well. Very benificial. That was when I had a 24x on it though and now I have a 10x so I don't know if I can still spot them at 1k. Although, normally with my MWS I can spot my shots at 500 as well if I try hard enough and the 10x worked pretty well for that.
ETA: ok thanks Trident. I know sometimes Larue calls their barrels LW referring to Lothar Walther. That's why I asked.
I'm extremely happy with the way this rifle performed, especially in the different firing positions we were using. It was light enough to handle when shooting from barricades, fence posts, sitting, kneeling and still get consistent first round hits on target. I think if I was to just lay behind a gun the entire time I would prefer something with a much higher BC to help with the wind.
this conversation probably doesn't belong in the picture thread, but i will add that my experience with SWammo 223 has been excellent accuracy at mid-range.

Trident - if you ever make it to UT bring your MWS. I moved from almost redneck country (VA) to UT last summer. I miss a lot of things about VA but now I've got access to my own private range. BTW, you can't shoot the moose or use your pyrotechnics as the whole state would catch on fire. That being said, you can shoot really long distances.
http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a578/hjmpanzr/7414e6cc938bdacdd040cbbd35e92b16_zpsf0902543.jpg
Damn you brother....first you built my UBER rifle, than you show your private LR paradise. Nothing better in the world than having private land that allows one to shoot as far as your imagination and skill allows. The fact it happens to be in some of the most beautiful country just adds insult to injury.
You sir are living the high life for sure....takes hard work, and a ton of coin to get that type of freedom though.
Thanks for the pic, and definitely the offer.....an opportunity to shoot land like that, might just make getting raped by the TSA agents at the airport doable :)

Concur.
0.4 MOA 5 shot groups are doable for sure.

I know this is a pic thread, but there is a ton of good info being posted so I hope I can ask this.
I have shot my 12.5" BCM SS410 out to 600 yards. In zero-wind conditions using M193, a Grip-pod bipod (on a carbine rail), and a 4x ACOG I achieved about 4 MOA groups. There's a thread on here about it somewhere.
I'd like to throw a 10" rail, a Harris Bipod, and get a quality 2.5-10 to shoot at the same distances using match ammunition. My question revolves around the effects of wind on such a short barrel. Would it be a waste of money to add the rail and optic to a 12.5"? The idea is that when suppressed, the OAL will be similar to a 16-18" rifle.

There's no free lunch, wind does some crazy things when shooting from one ridge line across a valley onto another ridge line. Even the KD course was displaying different wind characteristics from one end of the course to the other, and that was on the same valley.

That's a worthwhile upgrade if the barrel will get around MOA with good ammo... 77gr SMKs ideally... they handle transonic pretty good.

My MK12 Mod O Clonish. PRI Upper with Noveske Lower. SSA-E trigger, Bushnell Elite Tactical ERS 3.5-21X Glass, A5 recoil system. Using Black Hills Red box 77 grain .223 loads I was able to get these groups.
5-1/8'' group at 800 yds - 8.9 mils of elevation.
3-1/2'' group at 600 yds - 5.2 mils of elevation.
Used an Accuracy First Wiz Wheel. I am right at sea level. Temp was 75 degrees with 80% humidity.

How do you like your Acc. 1st scope bubble? I've been lookin at them and thinking about pulling the trigger on it.

I like it. Very well made and easy to see when the ball is level. So far anything Ive purchased from Accuracy first is top notch.

Build on a CMT receiver set, Mega 16" barrel, 14" Fortis Switch Rail, Bushnell DMR in a SPR-S mount. Now if the ATF would just hurry up with the paperwork for my 7.62RC.

Very nice! I've been wanting to build something similar. Do you by any chance know how much she weighs?

No idea, probably around 9lbs.
Onyx Z has good taste. Mine is almost identical, except I couldn't find a Noveske upper and went with the normal Vltor, and Noveske 18" SPR barrel:

The start of my 10/22 precision rifle. Having fun with this one. Currently awaiting my custom er show helical fluted threaded barrel, kidd drop in trigger with speed release and nodak rear sight rail/front sight
Should be fun!

Doc, do you have a photo? It's probably the most anticipated barrel I've ever had the displeasure of waiting for. Been trying to decide on a compensator, for looks really on a .22
And I have decided to put a vortex pst 1-4x24 with capped turrets. Hopefully that will be here in a few days

I'll send it to you in a PM since it's not on a "precision gun".
