this comes with a 22 lb recoil spring.would there be an advantage to upgrade to a heavier spring. this is a 4in barrel.if so what would be the advantage .

A heavier recoil spring will give you more pronounced muzzle flip. I bought a 24lbs extra power spring, tried it out and immediately replaced it with the normal spring. It may last slightly longer before needing replacement.

Kimber recommends replacing the recoil spring every 700 rounds and I heartily endorse following that recommendation. I have a cracked 4" Compact slide from not following that recommendation.

This is an improved spring for 4" Kimbers;

Apparently Kimber's Springs are too short as they use officers springs, the above spring is the correct length.
