Course description:
This intensive course will consist of two full days of training with Larry Vickers on the 1911 platform.

Day one will consist of 1911 specific range drills. These drills are designed and tailored to highlight key features of using a 1911 and the differences between running a 1911 and any other pistol.

The second day begins with a full detail disassembly and assembly along with an operator level troubleshooting class to allow the end user to recognize problems that may develop. Larry Vickers will discuss and demonstrate modifications to service 1911’s, as well as troubleshooting, diagnosing and fixing of issues with the 1911. When fixable issues are identified, they are fixed by Larry Vickers himself with some on the spot gunsmithing. The day ends with some more time on the range to reinforce lessons learned and to highlight test fire procedures.

If you have the desire to run a 1911 as a duty weapon, or to use one in a personal defense role, this class should be considered mandatory.

Instructor bio:
Larry Vickers is a decorated US Army Special Forces veteran as well as a national pistol champion. Larry Vickers has nearly two decades of special operations experience (1 SFOD-Delta). Much of which was spent as his unit’s Primary Firearms Instructor. In addition to his special operations accomplishments, his competitive shooting has yielded a 10th and 9th place finish in the 1993 and 1994 USPSA Limited Nationals as well as a 1st place finish in CDP class at the 2001 IDPA Mid-Winter Nationals at Smith & Wesson. Larry Vickers is a founding member of IDPA. In addition to being a highly experienced operator and national pistol champion, Larry Vickers is also one of the premier and most sought after 1911 pistolsmiths in the world. His work has been featured in several firearms publications and on the cover of American Handgunner. In addition to all this, Mr. Vickers has served as a consultant and technical expert to the firearms industry. Mr. Vickers is featured on two firearms, tactics, and accessories focused T.V. shows called Tactical Impact and Tactical Arms.

An experienced 1911 shooter had this to say about a recent 1911 Operator class:
I've been shooting 1911s for nearly 20 years and learned a lot. If you run a 1911 you need to take this class. Larry absolutely knows the gun inside and out, not only from the gunsmith angle but from someone who has carried one for real in harm's way. The 1911 is a great pistol and will serve you well but you have to be committed to it and stay on top of maintenance. Larry said "If you treat your gun like you do your lawn mower the 1911 isn't for you, get a Glock".
