I sent in the order on May 16th, and after much waiting and anticipating, it finally arrived. My M1 carbine from the CMP. She's a real beaut:

It's enough to bring a tear to the eye....My completely correct matching numbers 1953 Springfield Garand from the CMP with my beautiful Inland M1 carbine with a seemingly flawless IBM barrel:

I couldn't have picked a better carbine if I had gone to pick it up in person.

Many thanks to the CMP for hooking me up with such a fantastic little carbine!

If you want one, you can still get one of the other brands if you get your order in early. The Inlands are pretty much gone by now.

Excellent... looks great!

I just got my first Garand (also from CMP) last week. They told me back in May that they couldn't fill the order, but then they did. :cool:

My wife was laughing at me because I was like a kid at Christmas with a new toy!

The pictures really don't do either justice. They are in phenomenally good condition for weapons that are older than I am and that were issued a number of times.

I wish I could. Unfortunately I am absolutely swamped for the next 30 or so days. :( ....not to mention broke! I still owe Larry money for the low light class that was recently moved to November.

I would love to get some decent range time with my Garand, but alas....I must wait until some other time.

Certainly a hell of a lot prettier to look at.....

I took the opportunity to disassemble the M1 carbine and clean it last night while watching Dallas SWAT, and the finish is in PHENOMENAL condition. It looks practically brand new, as does the bore.

It's not a historically correct parts matching gun (Inland receiver, IBM barrel) but I can't imagine finding a shooter in better condition than this one is in....and since I was interested mainly in a shooter anyway, that's just dandy by me!
