so I have a this forearm

I have rather long arms and noticed that where the light comes out really cuts my grip short. I was thinking about maybe switching it out for this forearm instead

anyone have any experience with the railed forearm?

I am 6'1 and have no issue with the lighted forend. Have you tried a longer stock?

The foreend is such a great product, I would do what I could to keep it.

it has a 12 lop stock which may be the issue. I have to find a 13-14 inch lop hogue stuck and that might solve the issue. I like the forend I have now. it's very well made.

Pretty much all stocks for the 870 come in either 12" LOP (Youth/Compact) or 14" LOP (full-size). To acheive a 13" LOP, just stick a Limbsaver buttpad on your 12" LOP stock and that should give you close to 13" LOP and reduce felt recoil significantly to boot.

I have kept it. all I needed to do was get a standard length hogue stock and the problem I was having stopped.

Good call. I've had my eye on one for a while. If you decided to switch I'd snag it from you. I've shot a few 870's with them and I have long arms (I'm 6'2"), I think the issues as addressed is the stock length. When you get one with a longer LOP I think you will realize that you made the right call.

My 870 PMAX came with the surefire light set up, and I used to have a scattergun tech with the old style surefire set up. I think hands down it is the best light set up for a pump shotgun period.
