I noticed that some somes are marked ".22LR". Does .22LR require different scopes? A friend of mine told me that he heard but can't confirm that if you install just any scope on a .22, it could be damaged by the recoil. He heard that although the felt recoil is almost nil, there is a sharp recoil impulse that's different from centerfire ammos. Is this true or is it just a myth?
Can I install a high power scope on the .22LR?
Thanks.

The "different" recoil is absolutely not true. Scopes made specifically for 22 rimfires usually have shorter eye relief, usually are parralax free at 50 yards instead of 100 yards (which is normal for rifle scopes without parralax adjustmen) and are usually less resistant to recoil (the lower quality ones will come apart if you use them on a high power rifle). I have used good rifle scopes on 22 rimfires without any problems.

Thank you sir, that cleared it up, as they say on tv, "that myth is busted".

Your friend is probably thinking of air rifle scopes, which I believe do require purpose-built scopes due to a different recoil impulse.
