Against my better judgement....

Cabela's (Lehi) has Winchester Q3131A1 (5.56 mm M193 spec) ammo for $6.99 a box. This is a hell of deal (typically $11/box locally).

I bought all I could afford. If you guys don't go clean the shelf, I will have to go back, buy more, and sleep on the couch for a month.

This is cheaper (and much better) than S&B M193, UMC, and PMC .223. I think it was actually the cheapest brass cased ammo there tonight.

Not really a "smoking" deal especially if you buy it in quantity. A case would cost almost 350.00 not including taxes.

You can get a case of Prvi Partizan M193 clone for 329.00 from ammoman which includes shipping (and no sales tax) or you cant get a case of PP M193 clone from Wideners for 309.00 + shipping. Either way it is cheaper. Ammoman also has a 900 round case of Federal XM193F for 329.00.

I know markm and others have commented that the Q3131A is in the middle of the pack as far as it's loading is concerned.

This I know.

But...I always end up buying 100-200 rounds of PMC's (when it's $7/box) when I go there. I live really close and my son is always bugging me to take him. I have to be sneaky and hoard/hide ammo. Large, heavy loads from brown trucks and Fed Ex cause domestic disputes in my house.

200 rounds for $75ish is not too shabby in this boys life.

I 'think' the Q3131 Cabelas sells is the A1 version which is Korean made. Its not the same stuff as the US made Q3131.

Ive never really heard anything saying there is much of a difference but PMC has worked just fine for me, and is cheaper. I also shoot a lot of Hornady steel case at around 260/case. I also have a lot of IMI M193 sitting around, and that is regarded as one the best military type loads out there.
