Does anybody know of any practical carbine competitions currently being conducted in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area? I'm not talking USPSA or other three gun matches, but more of a carbine based type competition.
Thanks up front for any help on this.

Wayne:
I would be interested in the same thing for the mid atlantic states as well. It seems like everything is geared towards pistol or 3 gun with limited carbine action going on. Hopefully someone on here knows of sources for carbine competition in our areas.
Hello Wayne!
I'm not familar so much with the Dallas area anymore - there are folks on Enos that could easily answer that question though. I do know I've seen guys talking about them up there though. Not sure if they're talking USPSA 3 gun rules though.
We do have a carbine only type match down here, more near San Marcos than Austin. I hear it's pretty decent - more of the IDPA crowd that shoots it - I plan on making a few in 08 if I can.

Bryan,
Could you email me a schedule and other info on this? My daughter is at Texas State, so driving to SM would get me a match shot and a visit.

Wayne, CCIDPA has a 3-gun match quarterly in Greenville: http://www.ccidpa.org/threegun.html
And CTIDPA has a carbine only match in Johnson county. They've just started this up, but it looks like it may be very other month. http://www.ctidpa.com/carbine_rules.htm
Neither are sactioned but IDPA or USPSA, but have basic setup and scoring similar to those disciplines. Basically, they're fun and a good reason to get out and run the carbine.
Also, I'm a member at NTSA (http://www.shootntsa.com/) and they have a monthly carbine match on the first Saturday of each month. Not near the caliber of the above two, but you can get out of it what you want. They have been on hold while the berms are being reconstructed. You are more than welcome to attend with me once they start back up, if interested.
