The adapter is made for all Gemtech HALO suppressors and will only fit Russian or Bulgarian type AK74 or AKSU-74 (Krink) in 5.45x39mm and 5.56x45mm.

Anybody have any more info on this?

Say, has anyone tried this setup on a 5.45 or 5.56 krink?

I have one in my toolbox for my SLR-106R for when we get around to sending the M4-96 in for conversion to a HALO.

I've got a 106 as well and am waiting on paperwork for a Bulgy 5.45 krink to come in.
And one suppressor that will work with those as well as my AR stuff would be really great.

That looks good. I need to find a way to check one out in person.

AHHH, I am getting my halo in the next several weeks, this would let me mount it to my 74 instead of adding threads and an A2 break.

Wow, this info could really influence my decision to purchase a HALO.

I bought one at the SAR show in PHX last December. I think it ran around $75.00. Looking at it it looked very well made but I was a little concerned how well it would work, you know, baffel strikes and such. Tried it on my SBRed SL106CR. It works great!

If you have a Halo, and a 106, go for it.

I have been checking their web site and have seen nothing on it!

Would someone post a pic or two of what this adapter looks like please?

Wow. Maybe I should have bought the Halo instead of G5.

Well once I get in your area let me know if you really wanna sell the G5...I may buy it off ya.

Good. I can actually make money.

Not gonna happen though. You know why this G5 is special, don't you?

I am having a hard time figuring out how this adapter works, any one care to enlighten me. This would be PERFECT for my 74- and I already have the halo.

Unscrew your ak brake. Screw on the new mount, unscrew the halo collar, insert the spacer into the halo and insert the halo into the adapter that is now on the rifle.

I'm assuming these are for 24mm threads? If so...won't work on my ROMAKII unless they custom thread it to 22mm. Or I could get a Bulgy 24mm FSB and shim the barrel.

Or are these standard 14X1 LH threads?

SuicideHz
03-24-08, 17:37
Pat- I can only assume from the name they are for 74s and not your freaky little rifle.

You could have Steve press on another FSB but that is expensive.

Go ahead and buy a $700 Bulgy.

$700....ha....that'll be going towards the LMT SBR/Canned project goofy.

I've heard of guys putting Bulgy threaded FSB's on Romy barrels using shims....who knows.

ETA: And it can't be much more expensive than what I paid for a KVAR 22mm Romy threaded FSB and a Hotbarrel made 22mm Romy brake. (Those together ran me about $150-160) :P

hmmm, I have a Sar 2 with no threading, I may have to see what can be done.

My HALO is on order...

My adapter is inbound from PoHF; wanted to be sure I got that before/in case they stopped production. HALO will get ordered by the end of the year. I was initially going to go with a cheaper thread-mount can for my ARs, but being able to use the same can for ALL my carbines (AR *and* AK, 5.56 and 5.45) was just too appealing. I'm all about getting the most possible bang (or in this case, "pfft") for the buck. :D

Agree with the cross-platform thing, especially since this is my first can. I think this will suit my AK-105/102 very nicely.

Jay- that's cool. Got my G5 Wednesday. I'm 10 minutes from the range right now. I am tempted to try and ask Kel about Halo parts so I can use this on the 74.

What are you going to use the Halo on? I'm interested in hearing how it sounds on the AK versus an AR.

You might want to get that yaw issue resolved before you put it on that rifle you had in class.

I would love to get one of these, as I'm in the market for a .223 can, but doesn't look like it would work with my SAR-2s.....one has no threads, and the other has a 22 or 23mm (not 24 :( ) Romanian FSB from K-Var.

Time to bump this thread back to life.

Any plans to produce this for the AAC 18 tooth supressors?

I have a threaded Arsenal SA-5 but no way to mount an AAC on it:confused:

Katar,

Works well.

I am between training workups so I have time to play. I will haul out the 102 and the Halo and take some more pics. Perhaps vid with audio would be more fun...

My 102 loves this can but my 105 does not play well. I've come to the conclusion that the 102 has a smallish gas port while the 105 is super over-gassed. The Halo causes random malfunctions in my 105, which helped me experiment in this thread:

Thanks for the update.

I went ahead and ordered one for my Bulgarian.

Were you concerned at all about baffle strikes?

Initially I was paranoid (I think this is common) but it never happened.

I ran the HALO on my 74 this weekend. First of all, I thought the mount was excellent. I ran 4 mags thru it with no problems.

Katar,

How much of a poi shift did you see? Myself and a buddy had no problems hitting a chest size plate at 100, but when we moved up to 25, it was hitting high left off the plate. I am going to try it on paper later this week.

Overall, it is an excellent setup.

Went out and shot the 102 today, but nothing spectacular and certainly nothing worth a pic.

I shot 55gr and 62gr ammo at 25 yards and at 100 yards, both suppressed and unsuppressed.

End result: I need to do it again on a day that isn't so windy - and with a red dot. The shorter sight radius of the AK-102 isn't the most precision gauge to measure POI shifts at 100 yards. The POI did change, but I am going to need to shoot some more.

I'll set this up a little better on a day that is not so windy and overcast, an try again. I *can* confidently say that I wouldn't have any issues hitting something like a reduced IPSC steel target. The POI shift is not that drastic.

The Katar,

How much of a drop are you experiencing with your HALO on the 74?
At 100, I am seeing about a three foot drop. In fact, I could not zero my micro aimpoint with it. It is mounted on top of a Tapco Intrafuse handguard, and I ran out of vertical adjustment with the optic.

I have not tried irons with it yet.

One thing to consider is that I have been conducting my shooting with 12.5" barrel weapons. Your AK-74 has a 16.25" barrel which could be a big factor in your large drop in POI.
