Followup – if something 'goes bump in the night' what is the best COLOR or CAMO for a plate carrier or vest setup for home defense?
I would think black is good at night, but I usually wear a white t-shirt to sleep, and there is ambient city light and night lights, so black could stand out. Perhaps ACU would blend better and not stand out among household furnishings?
Multicam looks HSLD but I don't have any house plants to hide behind!

What do you guys don if something goes bump at night at home? Any pictures of rouy PC in low light?

If there is someone in my house in the middle of the night then they have pretty well seen the cars in the driveway, ignored the barking dogs and know I'm at home, so my element of surprise is pretty well gone.

I'm also not taking the time to grab a chest rig and I don't have armor so it'll be me, in whatever I wore to bed with a Glock or SBR in my hands while the wife calls 911.

If you decide a chest rig is right for your home defense needs I don't think the pattern will matter much as you clear the house in your drawers.

Ok...

Black is a terrible choice for most situations. If I had to pick one as per your request, it would be tan or coyote.

There are more important considerations than the color of your plate carrier inside your home.

Ummm, ok I'll bite....

If something goes bump in my house at night, chances are Im suddenly waking up in the dark, with my sense not fully awake, and trying become aware of my surrounding. Im not about to worry about armor and gear, Im grabbing my G19 and maybe my AR and getting on the move to secure my home and protect my family. Im very confused by the situation posed by you. Do you plan on fighting a battle in your home? Why not sleep in a Navy Blue jumpsuit with a soft vest underneath and a plate carrier and MICH near the bed?

If you're looking for usable gear that doesn't stand out much, then a solid color will make sense - Tan/Coyote, or Ranger/Foliage greens are a solid choice.

My bump in the night setup is certainly not going to involve finding and donning a plate carrier as first priority, and unless the situation starts providing a lot more information I'll be happy to have a flashlight, a weapon, and a phone on me and concern myself from there.

have one made out of couch upholstery. depending on your current home fashion, ACU might not be a bad idea.

or just use paint...

or you could try some urban cammos, easily found at second-rate surplus stores across the country... what your color scheme?

All I bother with is a pistol and a flashlight. As for gear, I'll probably be wearing skivvies.
