i didnt see a post about this already, but has any1 had problems with the federal 5.56 XM193 fmj-bt ammo in a BCM rifle? i just ordered my first BCM and i want to buy ammo in bulk cause its cheaper than buying 100 at a time. if any1 has any suggestions, im all ears.

Federal brass cased '08 and '09 has had some reported problems, as it was produced during the rush and I assume they were running flat-out.

My personal experience with earlier lots has been it all goes bang just fine.

The brass tends to fail early under multiple reloads, however, so if you're considering ever reloading, I would start with a different base.

It's mediocre ammo that's loaded pretty hot. I'm sitting on a bunch of the old $85 500 round boxes from ammoman. Not the best ammo out there, but there hasn't been much decent bulk ammo in a long time.

what about bulk pmc ammo? or maybe i should just by ammo 100 rds at a time of several brands to c what my gun likes? or even buy 500 rds of federal or PMC?

PMC is the opposite. It's very weak ammo. But if you have a carbine length gas system, it'll probably run great.

I would be inclined to buy several boxes of 20 count to see what the rifle might prefer. Once you find a few loads it likes, then you can start balancing cost vs. accuracy, etc. to see which brand you might want to try getting in bulk.

Just an idea.

I've been very happy with Prvi Partizan's M193 clone and M855 clone loads, have you looked at them?

I've been running PMC through my centurion arms middy upper and it seems to cycle fine, have also shot wolf though it fine as well.

www.luckygunner.com usually has pretty good deals from what I've seen(I work for a gun shop and its pretty close to what we pay)

The PMC XTAC m855 clone shoots pretty good and is fairly cheap compared to some others I've seen.

Nope. All non-corrosive.
