View Full Version : Putting a TA01NSN on a 16" gun?
I have a spare TA01NSN, and I want to mount it on my 6920 w/a 16" barrel. I know they are built for 14.5 guns. I will me shooting 62gr out of it. Draw backs? Bad idea? Can this work?
Thanks!
Bartholomew Roberts (very informed guy, BTW. Posts frequently on TheFiringLine.com) has a BDC chart for different barrel lengths/bullet weights/ACOG types on ar15.com.
You'll have to zero a little differently, but will generally be within a couple of inches in the BDC.
cool thanks. I found the chart. It doesn't appear to matter if it is on a 16" gun:
62gr. 5.56mm Flattop BDC
ACOGS that use this BDC are the:
TA01NSN, TA31F, TA11F, TA11F-A
For a Flattop 16" firing M855:
Sight in per your manual. If you can notice this difference on the BDC you don't need to be asking me for advice.
I have a NSN on my 16'' Pony... I even use the "wrong" twist ratio since it's 1/9.
I could only try it at 50, 100 and 200m but the BDC worked fine
