Is there a trick to taking out this damn front sling swivel? I'm trying to mount my Surefire X300 on an MI FSB light mount so I want to swap the swing swivel over to the bottom. I've been going at it with a punch and hammer with no real progress. I actually broke one of my punches in the process.

Some pics to explain my retardedness:

Should I be trying to hammer out the silver, concave part?

Remove the handguards and the rail section that you have on the FSB then drive these pins out with a punch...

It can be a pain in the ass trying to get those roll pins out of there, though working some lube in and around them helps. If my memory serves me right, I got the pins started with a 1/16" punch then drove them through with a 1/8" one. Or maybe it was vice versa? I don't know, you're just going to have to work at it. On the up side, you only have to remove one of those roll pins that Buck pointed out to remove the swivel mount.

I found a pair of pliers was easier to get them halfway out than a punch and hammer. Just put the top of the pliers on the roll pin and the bottom on the base of the sling attachment itself to drive the pin halfway through. then tap it out with a punch and hammer.

Be warned, they are bastards. :p
