For my Bro-in-Law. He's deep into his PS3.

He loved Red Dead Redemption but isn't a shooter fan per se.

Was considering "Hot Pursuit" or "Gran Turismo" but don't know if they measure up. Any other suggestions?

$100 max.

A playstation plus membership would be cool if he doesn't have that. Or a playstation network giftcard. The problem is that you need to know what he likes and what he has.

If he likes racing games then Gran Turismo is it.

Playstation Network gift card is a good idea. The Playstation Plus membership is a better idea. As a member, you would get discounts on downloadable content and exclusive content. How about a Gamestop gift card? Maybe a Playstation Move bundle? These are good ideas if you don't know exactly what he'd be interested in.

I'm a big fan of Gran Turismo, and can't wait to pick it up tomorrow, but it's a pretty serious racing simulator which a lot of people would find monotonous quickly. If he like Red Dead Redemption, does he have Grand Theft Auto IV including the Lost and the Damned and the Ballad of Gay Tony? Same style, same company.

How about a football, a Frisbee, a baseball, and directions to the nearest county park?

How about confining your commentary to the parameters of the OP?

He's a runner, camps, fishes and otherwise gets plenty of exercise chasing my little niece around. I wasn't asking you to comment on his lifestyle and if you have nothing relevant to offer maybe you should refrain.

Has anyone played "Hot Pursuit"?

I think your best bet is to get him a gift card to Gamestop. If he's a serious gamer, any game you think of he may have the day it comes out.

I second the gift card to Best Buy / Gamestop.

Let him pick out what he wants. I've got a couple games that other people bought for me, and I never play. But because they saw me playing a game in the same genre they thought I would like them. Not so.

This is why I created an Amazon Wish List. My mom was always saying how hard I was to shop for me and insisted on still buying me birthday and Christmas gifts, so now she knows what I'd like!

plus membership and a gamestop certificate :)

the reason is many want the plus membership but dont bother ? so as a gift that would be cool to get

the certificate cause games are so personable

we have the motion thing :) its cool but my 6 year old enjoys it more than me :) so that could be a hit or miss ?

Best accessory I ever received for my PS3 was the Bluetooth remote...$25.

Whoa there, lets keep the panties from wadding up too quickly. Apparently light humor is taken WAAAAAY too seriously in your neck of the woods.

Gamestop gift card = he gets exactly what he wants. I'm enjoy a 1st person shooter more so than I do racing games, but Hot Pursuit is definitely one of the more fun racing games out there. Gran Tourismo is too bland for my taste.

EDIT:
est accessory I ever received for my PS3 was the Bluetooth remote...$25.

Definitely!

Sorry I didn't see a smile or anything so it's hard to judge someone's tone online without it.

A couple of my buddies have said GT5 is kind of a let down. Supposedly has kinda crappy graphics.

Which is funny as hell considering how many years it was in the works?

I should re-say I mean bad graphics for a top PS3 game.
