Just checking on the feasibility of a 13in TROY/VTAC Extreme Battlerail, with BattleComp 1.5 on a 14.5in middy barrel. I've seen plenty of 11in rails set up this way, but no 13in rails. I haven't heard anyone say it can't/shouldn't be done, though.

So:
Can you do it?
Provided you can, is it advisable?
Are there any potential drawbacks?

If anyone has a setup like this, I would appreciate some photos.

Thank you.

It will work. I have a 14.5 with a 13 vtac and surefire MB556K. It works great. It has become my favorite setup.

That's great, glad to hear it. Have you noticed any residue build up on the muzzle end of the rail? Could I trouble you for a photo, just to see how far away from the muzzle the rail actually is?

The biggest issue I've seen/heard of with this particular style of build, long FF tube w/ a wep light out as far as it will go, is the lens of the flashlight getting discolored and pitted from powder burns/smoke.

At the end of the day it's not a big deal but , I've personally had to replace the lens on my surefire several times. Finally moved it back a little, about 1/2", and that seems to have minimized the problem.

As you have heard, it is do-able for sure and yes, consider your light placement relative to the comp.

I have the 11" VTAC Extreme on both my 14.5" w/BC1.5 and my 16" rifles.

I decided I wanted to try 13" on each rifle to see how I like it, but I didn't really want to add more weight in doing so.

Consider that the 13" Troy Extreme is the SAME weight as the 11" VTAC Extreme!

So, if you want to shave a little weight, the Troy is lighter than the VTAC, given the same length. That's why I decided to go with a Troy instead of the VTAC for my 13", which should arrive on Monday.

I run a 12" rail on my 14.5" setup with the light mounted as far forward as possible. It's easy for me to activate and is still out of my sight picture, so I leave it there. I counteract the lens problem by using a lens cover on my flashlight. When it becomes gunked or just beaten up...I simply replace the cover and move on.

How is the sling mount in that location? I am running essentially the same set up with a chopped rail section to have only the QD socket at 9:00, but wouldnt mind something a bit cleaner.

DHart did you ever switch from 11" Vtac to 13" Troy? What are your thoughts. I'm contemplating doing the same.
