Looks like if they have metal detectors it may be a no go.

Never seen metal detectors there. I have heard about signs saying no CCW, but they are not legal.

Weapons Policy
It is the policy of the Denver Zoo to restrict the presence of weapons within any facility on the grounds, or in institution controlled parking areas. This policy applies to all employees of the zoo, visitors, vendors, or those who are not specifically authorized.
The following are hereby authorized to carry or possess weapons on the property of the Denver Zoo:
Law Enforcement Officers (Federal, State, County, Municipal) while ON duty.
Law Enforcement Officers (Federal, State, County, Municipal) while OFF duty and under direction from their agency to carry weapons off duty.
Authorized “Shooters” from the Animal Department Emergency Team.
Holders of Concealed Weapons Permits valid in the State of Colorado

OPEN CARRYING OF WEAPONS IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED ON ZOO PROPERTY except by those law enforcement officers and authorized “shooters” as noted above. Plain clothes officers are encouraged to keep any weapons concealed while on zoo property.
Persons found to be in possession of weapons in violation of this policy will be detained by responding law enforcement officers.
The Denver Zoo will not store weapons nor permit them to be stored anywhere on zoo property. Employees in violation of this policy may face disciplinary action to include termination of employment, and/or criminal prosecution.

You are good to go. They are owned by the City and County of Denver and as a result they cannot ban the carry of handguns by CHP holders because they cannot override the State law as a municipality.
