Other than the S&A, what other options are there?

There are many other mag wells available.

The S&A is the only one thats integral with the main spring housing. Others involve cutting frames, silver soldiering, being held on by the grip panels or a cross pin.

I generally dont run a mag well, but if I did, I want the strength of the S&A. I KNOW its not going to shift in any way.

I have SAs on three now and agree with what you are saying. Was curious on others for a new pistol...thought of cutting the frame down and silver soldering one on to maintain standard length this time...
Thanks

In that case, I like the Heinie version. It just looks cleaner.

The only complication from mag wells that require frame cutting is your grips have to be modified to fit, which means you cant just bolt on the new set of your choice without having them relieved.

MARS armament mainspring housing and mag well with recessed lanyard attach point - it's a drop-in part like the SA - maybe with some minor fitting:

i've seen these in person and they're very nice. i've a 1911 being worked on at MARS and will be getting one of these on it.

Wilson shows an option for a MSH with lanyard loop of some sort on their Options page (http://www.wilsoncombat.com/index_options.asp). Don't know much about it but would be interested to hear if anyone else does.

I am not sure if you are asking about this one from Guncrafter Industries. It seem as if they are using this with a magwell bolted onto it.

I voted for a gunsmith some people know, Chuck Rogers ;) :

Couple disclaimers, no its not refinished/blended, class-training schedule hasn't allowed it and its not rust, pictures showing some wear in the light:

If I miss the reload, not the pistol's fault.

I learned a long time ago when I used to race cars that the limiting factor was not the equipment but me.

I have a full house SA coming from www.millercustom.com soon and I opted for a welded Heinie magwell. I like the fact that with the Heinie you are not adding height to the already big GM 1911. I'll post pics when I have the gun in about a month.

If you are looking for a great up and coming smith check out Robert Miller...great gentleman to work with. Very customer oriented.
