I could only make it through 1/3 of it. Once he started sweeping the shooter on the line, I shut it down. Dude has ZERO concept of safe gun handling.

Years of USPSA/ipsc and 3gun have reduced my tolerance for unsafe gun handling to zero.

He deserves a BFR to the Kevlar for his gun handling skills. He needs another to the groin for thinking all that crap on his rifle serves a purpose. Looks like someone I know quite well. Type of guy who would listen to any statement someone makes and immediately attempt to refute it with his "extensive combat vet experience" and thorough knowledge of any subject above and beyond any other expert. Any attempt to explain to him that he's entitled to his own opinion is met with contempt and sarcasm. He would insult a marine combat vet if his own "statements of fact" were refuted by actual extensive knowledge....In one simple word he is a TOOL. :sarcastic:

That's easy. You're automatically a member if you have a frontal lobotomy performed by a medical school dropout in the back alley of a hardware store. :suicide2:

"And this thing here moves" (stock). Now lets fiddle with the bipod a little while and see if it deploys the same way it screws onto the rail. No, no, that didin't work ok save face here...And, oh yeah the tac light it has a tac light.

"What about the bipod?"

"Uh, just a minute..."

Long range scope, 3/4 turn fast scope, lay it on the side irons. Course the irons are only good for one shot because of the probability of gas coming out of the ejection port.

And who created the nice accuracy device to connect the FF rail to the barrel? I bet somebody at Crane.

Holy crap !! I posted that vid this morning to get a few laughs and this thread is 2 pages long already:laugh: Maybe it should have gone in the Humor thread ??

Seriously though, I met a guy a few weeks ago at Teneroc range in lakeland that had all kinds of whiz-bang stuff on his AR and had his dad calling shots for him like he was a military sniper. He started having lots of FTF's and was blaming ammo,mags,primers,god,me,you...get it ?? lol

I did not recognize his frankenbeast of a rifle then he told me it was an oly:eek: Had to chuckle to myself as he kept fumbling with his rifle.

That thing has to be at least 15lbs, everything but the kitchen sink and it's butt ugly. It should be a crime to make any AR like that and the slapdick showing it at the range like that should be banned from that range.

at least the bolt was locked back...

That just means he needs to replace those grips and sights with ones that have extra picatinny rails on top of them so you can mount accessories on accessories.

Wonder if he's got an accu-wedge or that twang-buster.

I would be pretty impressed with that rifle, if I was 14 again. Did you see him insert a loaded magazine behind the firing line? I saw his finger on the trigger. This guy is a fatal accident waiting to happen. When it does happen, I hope he and not some innocent bystander is the fatality. They have some pretty low safety standards on that range. If I caught him handling guns like that at my range he would be going home with his rifle stuck up his ass.

In my short time on this forum I have become well aware of your contemptuous nature. I spend a lot of time on the range and see a lot of people who are inexperienced. That does not make them stupid.

Perhaps not. But, they are still dangerous. Difference between most ignorant behavior and ignorance with firearms is: the result shown on the video is potentially a fatality.

Such a level of ignorance is NOT acceptable when dealing with firearms. That is not say we should have "contempt" for the individual, but rather, contempt for the ignorant behavior with firearms that he performed, recorded, probably reviewed and then chose to POST TO YOUTUBE. On that point, I believe we can all agree.

I also agree with GotM4's sentiment that the person in the video should not have been allowed to endanger the people on that range & should have been escorted from the premisses until he becomes aquainted with the very most basic fundamentals of gun safety (such as: do not point your weapon at people; keep finger off trigger, don't handle/load gun behind line/point it at other shooters, etc.).

It would be worse if he actually KNEW such rules and still managed to ignore them for the video.

This guy needed to be thrown off the ****ing range in disgrace.

It doesn't matter how well meaning, nice or inexperienced the guy is. All that goes out the window when there are firearms present and living human beings being muzzle swept.

His precious hurt feelings can be remedied with some herbal tea, incense and a cry session with a left wing therapist.

The consequences are far more dire and life changing if someone is shot by this moron.

Suwannee Tim
12-13-10, 15:59
Don't get me wrong, I have seen some stupid people. I could tell you some stories. My favorite is the guy who, when I was chewing his ass for pointing his AR up and down the line said "But you were way down there!" "And just how far do you think "way down there" is" I asked. He thought it was about ninety feet, maybe a hundred. On further questioning he did concede that his AR was capable of shooting that far.

Inexperienced and willing to admit it does not equal stupid, inexperienced and unable to concede same does.

You are right, I'm very contemptuous. I have boatloads of contempt for idiots that bolt stupid shit on their guns, claim to actually have some kind of application for said stupid shit, or even worse who pontificate about real-world applications for said stupid shit, all while muzzling their neighbors. The internut is full of these types.

and FWIW, one doesn't have to only have an idiot-gun to be an idiot. There are plenty of idiots who have mined the internut to find the latest and greatest, purchased same, and then pontificate about their choices with little to no rounds downrange. Save the muzzling, these guys are just as bad.

I just spent three days in a class with 25 other shooters who all came from various backgrounds and had various levels of experience, and almost to a man every single one was honest about their situation. It was very refreshing, and the sharing of information, knowledge, and experience was invaluable.

rob_s
12-14-10, 09:20
Ouch.

Just to clarify, I meant this more in terms of his accessorizing and pontificating than the safety issue. Although that is a major challenge as well, as anyone who visits public ranges can attest.
