View Full Version : Is it ok to use Weaver style rings on Picatinny rails?

I am looking to mount a CompC3 to an Ultimak I just installed on an AK. (Can't swing an H1/T1 right now) I guess my question is, can I just use the C3 stock mount that came with it? The height is good, but the crossbar is weaver style. I'm just worried that it might vibrate loose since only the "side claws" are holding the optic in place unlike a true picatinny where the crossbar fits snug between the rail grooves as well.

If it all fits, I'd try it and watch to see how it holds up. I've seen plenty of quality picatinny mounts that have slack in the cross-bolts, although they generally fit tighter than the Weavers do. Just push the ring mount forward until the cross-bolt is against the front of the slot.

I'd probably degrease and dab some blue Loc-Tite on all of the threads...JIC.

But maybe it's just me...
