Rail For Colt LE6920 Daniel Defense?

Hello all-

I am looking to get a new handguard/rail system for my Colt 6920. I am looking for something that fits without adjustment, out of the box. I have my eyes on the Daniel Defense Omega 7 Rail.

Are there better options in the $250 price range? Is $250 a fair price?

I see other options like the Magpul MOE but I can't help but think that you get what you pay for...

$250 is a fair price for a free float rail that requires no modification to your weapon.

If you don't care for free float, look into the Troy Drop In Rail for $150.

I have a 6920 upper with a DD Omega 7. I really am happy with the free-float setup. Fit/finish were excellent. It is simple to install. There are really good directions at weapon evolution. I am the average American, 5'09" so it fits my shooting style well. The longer model that goes in front of the FSP is really neat. I bought my setup from a guy that is 6' 06" that wanted the extra room to grip the forend.

Centurion Arms was to develop a similar product. A smaller company with good endorsements. I would like to see the hand guard in person. I'm sure it will be excellent.

There are several less-expensive ways to go, but most do not free-float or they require mod of your rifle.

Omega 7 is a great drop in FF rail. Keep an eye out, I've seen used ones pop up for sale around $200 or less.

I'd try and find another one of these https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=68132 ($255 used) That way you can mount a light at the 12 o'clock and not have to shave the fsb for a rail with lots of room.
Plus it looks bad ass.
I have a 6940, and found little use for the first 7" of rail, aside from mounting a VFG a little closer than I like it.
Just my opinion.

Nothing wrong with the MOE handguards. I have a mid-length set on my BCM and I have no complaints thus far. Magpul makes indestructible stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DJw1XcwEHI

Would putting on the KAC M4 RAS require any modification to the Colt 6920??

And whats the difference between these two products?? Is RAS Seconds just a used RAS??

The KAC RAS will replace your factory handguard for the 6920 with no modification, the upper half will clamp into place with the barrell nut and the handguard cap. Lower will simply slide in and be kept in place by the delta ring. This rail is pretty expensive for a carbine length that does not Free float the barrel.

You can save quite a bit of money by opting for the factory seconds, which I did. The seconds are not used but their are usually blemished in some way the factory deems inappropriate for sale as a normal KAC quality product. Generally, the blemish could be slight discoloration, rail index markings going the wrong direction, ie, R14 being on the left rail and not the right, none of them are out of spec in any, way shape or from.

Let's put it like this, I have inspected my own with a fine tooth comb and haven't been able to find a flaw that would designate my rail a second, I can't imagine paying $200 more for something that I feel is already rock solid as a second.

The KAC is also the currently issued rail for US troops on the M4 and A1 carbines, that speaks for itself. Comparing it to the DD from the first post: the DD has the extended rail over the delta ring assembly which gives you an "uninterrupted" upper rail, whereas the KAC has a gap from RAS rail to upper reciever rail, they do line up heightwise though. I also believe the DD is a lighter weight item but I am not certain of these figures. My .02, get the KAC seconds.

All it says to me is that they were the lowest bidder able to meet the military's requirements. :D

All kidding aside, it's a great rail-system. It's a little heavier than a DD or the likes but is just as durable as anything else out on the market. I personally like the M4 RAS for it's two-piece system, makes maintenance a breeze.

It's cool.... everyone knows Magpul is known for crappy breakable plastics. :rolleyes:

If you're set on a quad rail, have at em. I'm just trying to say that the "get what you pay for" doesn't really apply here. Maybe Magpul should sell them for $150 so people can then assume because of cost they are durable. :sarcastic:

Not cracking on Magpul at all. I'm making fun of the review. I'll take a closer look at the Magpul, but yeah pretty much set on the DD now thta I have heard others chime in. Thanks for the help though, I appreciate it!

DD rails are great. I'm sure you wont regret your purchase!
