I've been scanning through a rather long search list and gave up.

Just scanning through pages of various sites, and reading... folks tend to be harsh towards Bushmaster and I was curious if there were legit gripes about them or just a backlash from over-hype.

I've never had a problem with them, but I have also always considered them the Buick Century of AR-15's.

BTW howdy folks!

Bushmaster has changed hands and focus several times in its life...

Not to long ago they won a Contract to make A4 rifles for the Corps, but they had to back out because their production line was not up to the task and it would cost to much to fix...

For the most part, Bushmaster makes quality forged uppers and lowers and they also use (mostly) quality parts... Several years ago they decided to go for a price point and eliminated a lot of the QC checks that one would want in a rifle you were betting your life on...

Things like using the wrong front sight base, wrong extractor, comerical receiver extension, carbine VS H buffer, and barrel twist rate...

Or things like not torqing the carrier key screws and not staking them, or not staking the extension castle nut...

Or not shot peening and pressure testing the bolts...

Now a Bushmaster can be overhauled into a fine rifle / carbine, the issue comes from the thought that it shoud come from the factory that way and for the same $$$ you can purchase one that is ready to go...
