View Full Version : Any way of excluding specific forums from "New Posts" view?

I use the New Posts feature to read the board.

Is there any way excluding a specific forum from these tailored searches? I believe the LE forum does this, but it may be due to it being restricted access.

The signal to noise ratio is getting totally out of hand again, and I'd prefer being able to see only technical threads if possible.

Thanks!

You are actually not excluding forums, however you are including the forums you want to see.

Ok tested it and it seems to work. You have to replace the numbers with the specified forum. For example the Site Questions / Comments (where this thread was posted) is # 65 To find the #'s you want, simply click on the forum and look at the browser bar URL and you will see something like... m4carbine.net/forumdisplay.php?f=65 The 65 is the forum number.

I hope this helps.

Edit: the forum code is shortening the link. I will try this...

Thanks - I think that will get you the current posts from the specified forums, but limited to the current day. (Again, I think - I'm a mod on a large vB based board, but I leave this stuff to the site owner.)

A hack for "New Posts in Subscribed Forums" would be ideal, and then you could just subscribe to the forums you were interested in reading. Now that I think of it, I'm pretty sure I've seen this hack somewhere...

I can see why you'd think that by looking at the "getdaily" however if you click the link you will see that it shows today's and yesterdays too. It seems to be capped at 25, maybe by chance. I dunno.

I missed your update while I was posting. You know, looking at the search code:

https://www.m4carbine.net/search.php?do=getdaily&include=15,16,12,33,52

I wonder if it would work by changing it to this?

https://www.m4carbine.net/search.php?do=getnew&include=15,16,12,33,52

I'll have to try it later! Thanks for the tip -

I'm pretty sure "getdaily" is also capped at 24 hours...
