I am planning on putting a TR24 or a TR21 on it. I have owned both scopes and am leaning towards the TR21 because of the longer eye relief. I don't want scope eye with the 45-70. Anyone out there have a simular set up.

Pat, what distance are going to be shooting? If it's within 50 to 75 yards, how about a Trijicon RMR? A friend of mine is doing an article in a magazine about RMRs on African Dangerous Game guns. We did a photo shoot with one on a CZ 550 375 H&H magnum. I'll try to post a pic. We used an RMR on an ADM mount.

Nothing against the RMR as its a great sight. I also considered a T1. But I want the ability to zoom in if needed for longer shots. Most shots will be inside of 50 yards. But if I take it hunting I may have to go out to 200.

Understood. I was just thinking along the lines of using a shorter rail on top of the shorter Marlin receiver.

Well almost done. I still need a butt cuff and a flash light mount but I have the scope mounted and have fired it. This thing about made me cry with handloads using 430 grain Laser cast bullets at 2000 fps. But it was fun to shoot with 400 grain laser cast bullets at 1100 fps.

That’s a real slick looking rifle. What light/mount are you thinking about using on the rifle?

I have been toying with doing a build like that but in 30-30.

As a side note I saw a stunning case of scope eye the other day. From the way the guys buddies were picking on him I think the wound to his ego was much worse than the busted up eye socket.

I am thinking of using Daniel Defense 1 oclock mount and sticking my x300 on it.
