Out of sheer curiosity I have been searching for information and pictures of this rare beast for a while now with limited or no luck.

I understand this rail system was born out of SOCOM requirement for a RIS II that would accommodate a 12.5" M4 barrel with an M203 mounted. This is exactly what I am looking for pictures of and information on. Does the barrel mounted LMT 9" M203 work with this rail? I am dying to see what this looks like.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

ETA: changed the title. I guess I would like to see detailed M203 installed pictures on SSC/GL or M4A1 RIS

Contact Stickman, or hopefully he will chime in on his own. He did a write up on the rail over at Gear Sector, but I can't find it any more.

You are correct on the reasoning of production and purpose. The Daniel Defense RIS II allows the individual operator to free float the M203 grenade launcher without additional parts. As importantly, special tools are not required to mount the M203 grenade launcher. This was accomplished by integrating all of the needed parts to free float the M203 into the rail itself.

I don't have access to a barrel mount 203 on a regular basis currently.
