I personally believe there is a need for at least 3 AR's. Here is my list:

10.5-11.5 for CQB. Believe this should be a chrome lined barrel.
16 for all around purpose (Recce). Believe that a good quality SS barrel should be used.
18-20": for longer range shooting. Believe this should be a SS barrel as well.

I have 2 AR's

While I would love to buy more, it just makes more sense economically ( for me ) to buy uppers and save the dough for accessories and ammo.

A 6.8 upper may just be my next big purchase :D

One LMT MRP in 16" that is loaded with M960 SF, OTAL Laser, TD VFG, Troy front and rear BUIS, MIAD, MOD Stock, and an EOTEch, all with LaRue Mounts, but feeling the need for another M4 configuration in a more of a KISS format.

Thinking just an LMT 16" M4 upper and lower with 7" DD rail, and a Troy rear BUIS. I can swap my add ons from my other AR as needed. But then agin, I'm feeling like I want to try an Aimpoint.

Oh crap...here I go again!

Get ready Grant...I'm feelin' the itch!

I own 2.

A Sabre Defence with a 16" bbl and 12" free float Troy rail, Magpul MIAD and EOTech sight, Troy BUIS and flip up front sight.

A Colt LE 6920 with a VLTOR rail system, Aimpoint ML2 on an ARMS mount, VLTOR stock.

Planning on getting either an LMT SBR which I will build or maybe a Colt LE 6933, as soon as I set up my trust, etc...., or maybe BOTH!!!:D :D :D

Oh and I have to get approval from the wife for any more AR's...

But I don't have BRD.......really..........no seriously..........:D

Wouldnt a good bolt action sniper rifle be a better option for long range shooting? I am new to ARs so be kind with your reply:eek:

There are quite a few well built 5.56x45 AR's that will match or exceed the accuracy of many precision bolt guns at ranges up to 600yds with the right ammo and a skilled shooter. The 6.5 Grendel will move that range out to 1000yds.

Only one that's completely done. I have a 9mm carbine lower finished with the mag block and internals, just waiting for the upper (or to save the pennies for same), and a couple stripped lowers awaiting the attention span and money to turn them into functional rifles.

Sure, there are some 5.56mm AR's that will drive tacks, but they won't drive a man down at 600 yds reliably. I think that you're going to run out of terminal ballistics after 300 yds or so with a 5.56mm., especially with a mid length or an M4. You just won't get any expansion.

If we're talking about 600 +yard sniper applications, IMHO it needs to be .30 cal minimum, and prefereably a .300 Win Mag. Past 1,000 yds. it's time to break out the .50 Cal.

I know we can discuss .308's and its' virtures all day long, and I love the cartridge...but if you have a choice at long range....bigger is better, again IMHO.

Right now I have 2 finished, a 16in M4, and a 7.5 pistol.
I have one half built with an A2 stock, I’m just waiting for the $ to finish the upper, and buy a nice trigger for it. And I have 2 stripped lowers I got in a local group buy, one I decided to build a 14.5 M4 w/perma FH, the other I don’t know yet.
I'm kinda thinking I want a 11.5in SBR, but I think I want my first NFA item to be a suppressor.
Silly BRD. :D

I'm down to one. (I've had as many as 8 at one time) And I haven't even seen in for nearly a year. :( I had to move to Germany last year for work and I have a friend send me pics from time to time. He takes it to the range occasionally and cleans/re-lubes it as necessary.

If I could figure out a way to get a stripped lower in Germany, I'd be in high cotton, but it'll be another year or two until we are reunited....

1 Bushy M4 with ARMS,Sir flat top. Cubfoot stock, Surefire grip light, Eotech and flips. TiN bolt group, match trigger

1 Bushy Commando, ARMS SIR, H-bar, grip and surefire light, cubfoot stock Eotech, match trigger

1 Bushy AR pistol, 12" bbl, flat top, Eotech, rail

1 RRA AR pistol 9mm, flat top, 12" bbl, railed, Eotech

Most of my lowers are of various brands

If I can do it all over, I would just buy POF and Leitner Wise or other gas piston system

Same idea but different thought process. Here are my three POW'S.
AR#1-The cheapest one I could find. Money was a little tight in the Army. Note: VERY Close to the 15000 round count. But I still won't recommend this brand to anyone. I'm just one guy with one cheap AR.

AR#2-This was going to be the one. Making enough money to get what I wanted. But it couldn't be a Colt because thats to much like being back in the Army. Thing is, I rushed into it and didn't notice that the carrying handle was welded to the upper Receiver. Gave it my 12 yo son.

AR#3-Finally I talked to enough people and spent enough time at these five day commando courses to do it right this time. Still can't bring myself to pay for a Colt. So I convinced myself that xxx and xxx are just as good, they really are. Besides if I get a Colt I won't have enough money left for those Green Rail Covers. With Patience I didn't think I possessed. I finally assembled all the best parts, the upper and lower that is. Done.

How much are Colts going for these days? A friend of mine wants to know:D

2:

Colt R6601 Match HBAR (soon to be replacing the upper receiver with a Daniels Defense flattop and swapping out the FSB for just a gas block, mounting a scope, probably a Super Sniper)

Stag 3H upper on a Stag lower with Aimpoint ML3 on a GG&G mount, Sampson front sight and ARMS 40 rear. Will be installing Daniels Defense Omega rail one of these days.

Oh boy! Never enough! But anway...
#1 AR15A1-SGW receiver and every thing else on it Colt Military surplus. My Retro rifle and only because I put it together over 20 years ago. Absolutely an M16A1 copy short of being full auto. Same version of weapon I trained on in ARMY basic lo those many years ago. It always shoots good groups and has never quit.
#2 AR15A2- Full Bushmaster. Built it after the Army converted to A2's. Another that shoots good groups and it looks like I'll get to use it in some Nat'l Guard matches coming up(I hope!)
#3 AR15M4A3- SGW receiver and every thing else Bushmaster. Built it after 9/11. The receiver on this weapon is an NFA receiver done by Frankford Arsenal when they were still in buisness. Originally on Rifle #1. Weapon runs great although from what I've been able to read, it shouldn't, or will break any moment, or the parts brand are all crap, etc., etc.
#4 AR15M4A3- DPMS receiver and every thing else Bushmaster. My Patrol rifle. Got it w/a 16" barrel(Patrolman's carbine). This weapon gets all the goodies. EOtech 552, MI forearm, G,G&G MAD site, Magpull CTR. Shot it today after installing a heavier buffer and the damn thing gave me a 1/2" group at 50yds. I have run it thru several tact classes and never any problem other than a loss carrier key. ordered a MOAKS-jr and solved that problem fast.

Got to play with a Calvary Arms receiver yesterday and WOW! was it light! Thinking of trying one for a Patrol Rifle as I am tired of playing with collapsing stocks. I think they are a PITA.
As Serling used to say "Submitted for your approval" JL Out.

One at the moment, my 6933. Am thinking of adding a 6721 to the stable as soon as my CC's catch their breath. After that, and IF I ever find the Colt upper for it for sale, a Colt M16A4 clone like my last issued rifle. Figured I would add that upper to the 6721 lower and add the A2 stock. Then just use the 16" upper on my SBR lower for plinking.

So I should end up with 2.5 to 3 ARs!

A colt 6920, a right handed Stag and a LWRC. Only two have been sighted in and none are really tested yet.
