View Full Version : Digital powder scale ?
My PACT scale just puked, any opinions on what make/model is the best digital scale?
How old was it?
Less than a year
I'll bet it's under warranty then.
I've had a BBK for several years although it hasn't gotten much use lately. It's accurate enough for my needs, it always checks within .1g of a check weight, and more often than not it agrees identically.
If you decide to go to another vendor, realize that RCBS and PACT are one in the same. PACT builds RCBS stuff and rebrands it for them, so there's no difference. And while you can purchase scales with resolution down to hundreths of a grain (Acculab), I don't feel that level of precision (assuming its accurate) is needed. Not for weighing cases, bullets or dropping powder.
I have no insight into other vendors' products reliability.

That isn't the case any more. The newer Chargemaster is made by Excell. The RCBS and the PACT also perform very differently. http://www.6mmbr.com/powderdispensers01.html

Does that apply for the entire product line or does it just apply to the Chargemaster combo (which is a combined scale a dispenser)?
Thanks for the link, thatw as interetsing reading. Do you happen to know if the Chargemaster and Hornady units are made by Excell? Just going off of memory, but they seem to look the same, except for the color.
The scale itself says it was made by Excell. I didn't look to see if the dispenser said who it was made by.
I'm not sure about who Hornady sources theirs from. I don't see the similarities between the RCBS and the Hornady tho...

Oops, I meant to say to look at the pics of the two about 1/3 of the way down from the top of the thread.
