Gents- It appears I am unable to post a response to a For Sale ad. I understand not being able to post something for sale without a minimum number of posts, but shouldnt I be able to buy?

Correct. You can't post in someone elses thread. If you want the item, simple send them a PM or e-mail that you want it.
