Okay Michelle shot my hog so I took my frustration out on a rabbit.

Nice, I use a T/C Contender with a custom MatchGrade Machine 20" barrel with a 1:7"twist so I can shoot my hog killings reloads of .223 75 grain BTHPs that I use in my SIG 556s, nailed over 60 last year up to 500 pounds in the backyard....

Nice! I just got an axis this weekend with my AR. I haver never shot anything with it besides rabbits in fear of losing the animal.. but It dropped in its tracks.

Nice!
I think my boys and I are going to have to make a trip down to Texas this year for some hog hunting.

Yours is too, but thanks!
These hogs make it look like my rifle's are SBRs.....:D
Awesome hogs! I really need to go out for one of them one of these days. How does the .223 perform on those beasts?
All one shot kills out to 225 yards max, most are 90-140 yards, DOA.
A couple are head shots but 98% are lung shot since it is too difficult to penetrate the shoulder to hit the heart. I aim for right behind the shoulder through the ribs, no problem.
I use Hornady 75 grain BTHP, Prvi 75 grain BTHP, Sierra 77 grain MatchKings, and 77 grain Nosler Competions and lately 70 grain Barnes TSX - all perform extremely well for instant kills.
Proper bullet placement is required to bring these large beasts down with a 5.56mm/.223, you don't just shoot them in the arse as they are running away from you....even with a larger caliber.

Man! You better hope you were out of wishes before you made that statement. :)
You don't want those nasty things around, they will completely take over an area.
In a good year they can have 2 or 3 litters of at least 8 piglets. Female piglets can start breeding in 5 months. Do the math, they are about like rabbits but they don't have any substantial predators.
But maybe it's just me.

Any opinions on eating them? I have read where you can and can not.
the boars smell bad cooking but usually taste alright. The sows are awesome!

That may be true, I have heard things but never met or spoke with anyone with any first hand sightings. I only live about 2 hours from the PA border and I know they have them.
Nice shooting. Need to find a place to go after some hogs, looks like fun.

They've been moving in on some family ground in southern Illinois, seems like every time we shoot one 2 more pop up in it's place...
Hogs are fun to shoot and all, but I'd rather not have any to kill than be planning our family gatherings around thinning out the hogs on our ground.
