I was checking my 100 yard zero the other morning before I went out for some hog hunting (which it was so dry we didn't see any which is a first...) when I had a strange visitor come check out what he was up against :p

An interloper have we? Nah, just passing by. . .

That's a cool picture pose there though!

It was a weird deal, he was hanging around despite gun fire, then about 30 minutes later a spike came through the field chasing a doe as well :D

Had that happen to me at my range, I was shooting steel hung inside tires at our 200 yard line and a deer jumped down to look into the tire and see what the noise was.

The deer get a copy of your states hunting proclamations and know what the season is so they don't worry. Once the season starts they all go on vacation and are not to be found.

You can come to my house. Every morning they are hanging out near my garage next to the brush. Just milling about. It looks like Home Depot at times, they just need some coffee and a hammer and I would put them to work.

PS I don't hunt so maybe they sense that I like them.:sarcastic:

Looks like South Texas.

If so, it's prime time rut going on right now. Bucks get real dumb when they're looking for love.

Had this happen on the 100yd range while we were doing some move and shoot drills. Deer and a bunch of fawns just hung around for 45 minutes. We even ran up to them and waved them off, didn't budge.

At a class in Dakota Territory, some buffalo wandered out of the trees onto the range during a break in live fire. It was during the shotgun portion of drills, and we could've filled a lot of freezers.

That deer sure knows how to pose right in front of your target doesn't he. Kind of like he is rubbing it in that the season is over and he's home free.

Happens here too. Last October, had a doe and two fawns run right out in the middle of a 300yd range... and they just stood there.

We had some deer wonder onto the M203 range at Drum. I was shocked considering the noise.

There's an Iraq/Afghanistan deployment joke in that somewhere... :sarcastic:

Seen lots of deer on Bradley gunnery tables/ranges in Germany. Makes for some interesting viewing through the ISU/thermal sight at night.

It's actually pretty funny, a deer sees his buddy vaporize when a 25mm hits him, yet he just stands there as if nothing happened.
