I have their Diamondback 4-12x40 (http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-diamondback-4-12x40-riflescope-dead-hold-bdc-reticle) scope for my AR, but I honestly didn't shoot much yet to have an opinion. It appears to be well made.

There's been some pretty brutal test done, and it passed. What are you using it for? More than likely it will be good, search there's plenty of info.

Here's a thread on SPARC - https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=51025. I just ordered 1 for my M&P 15-22.

I have had a SPARC on a SBR for a while and its done fine. Took it through a 3-day advanced patrol rifle school with it raining one day and it never lost its zero. The battery life is short (compared to an Aimpoint) so I'm still buying an Aimpoint to go on my patrol rifle so I can just throw it in the car and leave it on.

If its just a range toy or home defense gun than its a great value IMHO.

As others stated they have gone through some pretty decent tests and have passed.

Here is a small test someone did on a sparc at ar15. It may not be an insanely torturous test, but for I was pretty impressed for what it is...

As a counterpoint, my experiences differ somewhat.

I bought the SPARC because I really like the overall package. A seemingly well built sight, appeared to be ruggedly made in all the reviews I could find, and had a great warranty. I mounted it on my work gun, which is used both for patrol and SWAT Entry functions. It survived until the first SWAT training date. I scaled a six foot wall, cleared another obstacle, engaged a target, and the dot was off. Thinking I had bumped the NV button, I transitioned to irons, and completed the course of fire.

After finishing, I found the entire control module had broken from the sight, and was dangling by a wire. My dealer replaced it immediately, and I returned to the range to zero. When I tried to do so, I found the sight had no elevation adjustment whatsoever. Windage was fine, but no matter how much you cranked the vertical, nothing happened. That was the end of my Vortex relationship.

My opinions....Its a nice hobby sight. I think its as good sight as 150 bucks will buy. I think the control module sucks. The buttons are terrible, and the NV button is entirely too easy to inadvertently hit, rendering the sight useless. A simple rotary knob would have been fantastic. The Warranty is great, but not much good when the sight is down, and you need it.

Bottom line, its a hobby grade sight, nothing more.
