What is the word on these?

They have the Tarani folder -

And the fixed blade -

the SBT is 'okay' if you can get it for cheap/closeout. the one thing i didn't like about it was that the detent to hold the blade closed wasn't very positive. it opened while in my pocket a few times and i stopped carrying it after that. the liner lock is also a bit on the thin side. i didn't find the edge particularly durable either - i've got some nicks on the edge from doing very mundane things.
my .02 - it's definitely not a strider. just a strider collaboration.

WHO has them? from what I can tell they've been discontinued and only available through private sale.

I have been looking for an 882 with ATS34 and BOS heat treat for a long time

Look at the CSAR-T for a beefy Buck folder with BOS ATS34 blade and Buck/Strider-like build (although TOPS design). Excellent knife for the money.

I have had one of the folders for years. Great all-around pocket knife. But I am no knife connoisseur.

I had one of the folders it was really heavy and really thick kinda boat anchor in the pocket like.

I had one several years ago and the blade almost closed onto my fingers because the liner lock wasn't engaging positive enough.

If you are looking for something in a similar price range take a look at a Benchmade Griptilion. I have had both and would take the BM over the buck any day.

i believe you and i had the early version with the thin liner - later versions had a thicker liner due to that very problem.
i totally remember that now - when i used to push on the locked-out blade to test it, the liner would move. i never completely moved off the engagement surface, but i was only using hand pressure. it was very disconcerting.

just to throw in my .02 - while i like benchmade quality, i think that ZT 0350 knife offers a better value, dollar for dollar in the same price range, when you compare both in hand.

After I learned the history about the Strider guys I sold all of my Strider knives except for two that have sentimental value.

Strider Knives are nice, but I know I not going to use it if I had one. Because it cost me too much.:D

Emerson, HEST folder, Spyderco are also good brand to check out.

They are nice knives but they are big and thick. A bit too thick for carrying around in your pocket.

OK thanks.

I thought I had a line on the fixed blade brand new for $125.

This. I have a coyote one, and even a moderate whack to the back of the blade will make it close on your fingers. Even after a trip back to Buck to supposedly fix it. The liner lock is too thin for the weight of the blade.

I have a few Buck Striders. Picked them up used or on closeout for $25-35. At that price, they make a good spare or kit knife, and little is lost if they are lost or have to be ditched. They are durable enough for most daily tasks. They are also heavy and bulk compared to others. They do have a tendency to be self opening, so be careful how you carry and grab them.

I did the same as Iraqgunz, but kept none. Traded the last to a former Mod. on this forum.
